[Cherry Waves] Planning and roomies 🍂
✨HELLO HELLOOOOO!!! ✨
I've been hyperfocusing HARD on several things!
Preparing assets, organizing the files so I don't die in chaos when I start the production of the reboot, gathering references to study... There's so much to do!
I'm sharing with you this little watercolor illustration I already dropped for the paid tiers (you can join for the higher resolution, some details and process, wink wink 👀). I was testing an app I just recently discovered, Rebelle 7, and it's amazing for traditional paintings 🥹 (it has a super sale rn and it's at like $10, in case you might be interested).
Also there are a few more new faces, I'm guessing most of you come from the announcement I finally managed to publish on Tapas (a bit late cause I run into a few issues, sorry!)
Welcomeeeee 🎉🎉🎉
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ANYWAY FOR THE PLANNING:
I'm still in the pre-pre-preeee-production so it's a bit hard for me to share specific things, but:
I'm preparing all the episodes so you to have a chance to get the first version of Cherry Waves before I take them down! I have no idea when that would be yet but I will keep you posted!
I'll upload the first chapter this week for the Meatballs and Super Supporters. They will be available for you to download for a while. ❤️I'll drop another watercolor test in-between practice for fun, probs Josh & Kyle! Suggestions on how you would like to see them posing / what could they be doing are very welcome!!!
I'll start making some studies this week , specifically for character clothes/fashion and style.
I I'll share more of the process with mah Meatballs and Super Supporters soon. I'll drop some of the sketches for the free members as well!
As an example of things I'll discuss & show:
I've been taking notes while gathering references and my own panels for the characters to study, like this:
*these are not mine! I gathered a bunch from pinterest for general reference and learning purposes, I'm gonna analyze and practice etc, I'm not going to actually use any of these for artwork, but to take notes on what each character would wear and see how different artists stylize the folds etc, that kind of thing! I always pair this kind of research with studying from my artbooks, real people and pictures too. It's really useful to make concepts stick in the brain!I'll do the same with mine, taking note of what I like, what I don't, and "solidify" the style!
Anyway that's all for today (whew it was actually quite a bit!),
I hope you enjoyed this little piece and glimpse of process!
See you soon with more thingies!!
ILY GUYS 🌈

Love this painting, cuddles w the boyfr— roomies are always necessary! For Josh and Kyle, could we see maybe one of them busy cooking or smth while the other secretly stares? I feel like that’s fitting for their current situation😅❤️
Yes! Or it could be a scene from when they were together... Maybe one was cooking and the other one was hugging the cooking one from behind and they're looking at each other (very in love obviously) 🥰 honestly no matter what it will be, I will love it. They're my favourite ship 😂
Mike seriously HOW CUTE ARE TREV AND RYAN IN THAT PICTURE, I CAN'T DEAL WITH IT!! 😍🌈 And I said it before, but I'll say it again: why are your characters so cute, and why are they all so funny and hot too 😂 It's too much for my heart to handle 😂 Anyways, thanks for sharing your process and holy moly that's a lot of reference pictures! Take care and I hope you have a lovely evening ❤️
AAAAA THANK YOU I'M GLAD YOU LIKED IIIT ❤️ YES they're very wholesome and cuties patooties, I needed to share at least a glimpse of it with you fghgdfkgdrg And yes I actually have way more references but I tried to force myself to keep the amount "short" for my notes. Even if I don't end up referencing every single image, I feel like I'm "absorbing" the concepts while searching and gathering. It makes it so much easier for me to learn just by processing them, if that makes any sense? xD Even having things for "no, not this", so I know what I don't like for my style or that specific character. Works for me but I have to be careful cause it's easy to go waaaay overboard ಡ ͜ ʖ ಡ My brain is... particular 🙈 ANYWAY no one asked but there you go xD Thank you again and you too have a lovely evening yourself ❤️🌈
HYELLOWS ~~ yippee downloads = thank you, you angelical being also mike!! my dear dedicated bean. you've been putting together epic amounts of detailed references dayumm. if there's time, this one channel has some in depth research... https://youtu.be/RZzmMj-Iips?si=DzULfjyNvzlHUgCI https://youtu.be/L7UPkiM_TWo?si=As5LyuInvpUR5KuY https://youtu.be/gbNg4DwXsWU?si=6ajdALuGXmT-HbDJ patreon does links rlly funny. hopefully it does work tho
HELLOOOO ❤️✨ Yes, hehe! When I'm in the good headspace and have some time, the reference research is one of my favorite parts!! I feel like I can answer so many of my own questions in the process (although I rarely have the time to properly study and develop my notes, so it's gonna be fun!!) And thank you for sharing those!! It's actually a really good idea to look into fashion channels, you just reminded me I had a couple of them on the list specific for guys as well. I'll definitely check them out soon ❤️
And once again, I'm amazed at the amount of work that goes into creating a comic. I do find looking up references and studying other artist's work can be surprisingly fun though. On that note, thank you for sharing little bits of your process c:
Ooooh I love seeing other artists enjoying this kind of process too!! I LOVE doing this but I rarely have the time for it so it feels extremely nice having a bit of time and brain to do it, especially now that I really got to know the characters so well AND I have the experience from working on the comic for a while and trying stuff.
Random idea for Kyle & Josh: getting/eating ice cream. Maybe one of those ditching class moments ^^ Ignore me if that feels out of season 🤣 It’s still 29 degrees here (middle of Oct, godd*mn it), excuse me while I go make sure I have some in the freezer myself, because now the idea has been planted.
Maybe hot chocolate/tea instead… XD
Josh and Kyle smooching 🫠
ehehehe ehehehe
Me downloading everything when its possible to put in the Mike folder ಠ◡ಠ For the art idea: I'm a sucker for someone having a nightmare and the other one giving them a shoulder to cry on and to just be there for them. In my brain Kyle had a nightmare and he's hanging onto Josh his shirt while josh hugs him for dead life ಠ◡ಠ (what do you mean we love a good piece of cute angst ಡ ͜ ʖ ಡ) Also the refs are so interesting to see and yes that's Josh his clothing style. I see the vision ಠ◡ಠ
The Mike folder, I'm ded 🤣 Aaaaah I remember you mentioned something similar for the Vampire theme!! Darn it it's SO good, I completely forgot about that. For this or for an AU be sure it WILL happen 👀 (I'll make a note, but you... might have to remind me anyway ಡ ͜ ʖ ಡ ) And yesss you can tell so much by the way a character dresses and the little details!! It's like music, you can get to feel them in a different way ❤️ I'm glad you can see the 🌈VISION🌈
