✨ CHERRY WAVES IS GETTING A REBOOT! ✨

I know it tastes like bittersweet news... but I'm actually SO EXCITED AND HAPPY I'M FINALLY DOING THIS. I SEE THE LIGHT Y'ALL. 🥹
The things I have in store for you guys... UHUHUH ಠ◡ಠ
It's going to be so much more dynamic, interesting and clear from the beginning.
Even if a lot of things remain, extra things will happen and the order and location of some events will change. You'll get to see and know more about the characters in different settings from the start, without the need for a chart xD (AND OUTSIDE THE DARNED HOUSE! We got enough of it, let's be honest 🤣).
So it's going to feel fresh and new for everyone, even for those who already read everythang!
WHY OH WHY YOU DO THIS TO UUUUUS 🥲
Okay this decision was HARD. I know the implications and I don't want to disappoint you guys with yet another hiatus.
But the reality is that I found it exponentially harder to work on this over time because both the art and the storytelling just don't reflect my current ability. I could live with that, pain aside, but I kept finding roadblocks because of how I set up things for the story.
I started Cherry Waves knowing next to nothing about making an actual webcomic, and I kept getting hit with LIFE for over four years, two of them with the comic in the making. I haven’t really told you that much about it, but you know it’s been exhausting, and this has reflected on the series and on my health.
I'm proud of what I achieved despite the circumstances and I'm SUPER happy and grateful about the reception and the opportunities and support I'm getting.
I am now in a position where I have the mental space, time and actual bandwith to give the boyos of Cherry Waves -and you- the care and story you deserve.
Now of course I will make sure to build a proper buffer this time.... and I'm still waiting for certain things to be settled 👀 So yeah, expect for the relaunch date to take a while. But rest assured, the wait will be worth it.
I AM A POOL OF ANXIETY RIGHT NOW FOR... REASONS. SO EXCUSE MY DERPING THESE DAYS OK. ಥ‿ಥ
Anxiety aside, I'm cool and ready to work with no burnout in sight, so I'll be sharing the process with you along with some studies and practice I'll be doing. I'll share more details very soon.

This is surprising but not bad news! We all prefer a hiatus due to a reboot rather than because of health concerns. I’m excited to see the new changes🤗🤗

It's such a one-of-a-kind comic for me for different reasons. I love the character building, I love the fun with the boys, I love the humor, the art style, the way you depict difficult topics and I can't thank you enough for all the representation ❤️ this comic means so much to me and I'm so happy that you put so much love in it 🥰 don't forget to take time for yourself and to rest a bit though ☺️

I'm always amazed whenever I see artists/creators do something like this because it highlights just how much work goes into creating a story and comic. Just imagining myself doing all that work gives me a headache 🤕. It also makes me glad people like you exist who are willing and capable of putting in the effort to create these wonderful works for us all to enjoy. So thanks for all the care, dedication, and effort you're putting into Cherry Waves, Mike. I'm super excited to see what you're going to make 😄

First off, congratulations! I am excited to hear that you're able to stretch and grow the story and the boys. ♥️ Secondly, a plea: please, please, please don't lose the tone of the original when you reboot! I don't know quite how to put it into words, but Cherry Waves is like no other comic I've read. What drew me in is how you somehow were able to take very adult situations and introduce them in incredibly wholesome, relatable and natural ways. Every update has had at least one element that made me remember that semi-adult stage of my own life and smile fondly at the charming way you called forth those memories. It all feels so relatable, and I can't stop reading and re-reading. I actually enjoy that the story unfolds in a series of small moments and that it has been moving at its own pace (speaking of pace - those poor guys left in limbo at brunch! Will we ever know what happened there?! 😆). Anyways, moving on from my ramble, I can't wait to see the reboot!

I feel so happy to read how the story brings you back in time and gives you all those feels 🥹 You have no idea how much that means to me cause it's an indicator that I did something right there, and that was one of the most important things to me, besides the representation 🌈 I hear you, and I understand the concern! But if this can reassure you, I can promise you that one of my main focuses with the reboot is actually not only keeping, but also enhancing this side of the story. Things will move faster here and there, but just enough to make everything flow more naturally. The general pace, tone and dynamics are going to be the same (and a lot of the interactions in the scenes are going to be kept mostly as they are), but hopefully it will be less confusing from the beginning in some ways 😂
