Inner Monologue Mod | Preview
๐ญ Inner Monologue โ click any Sim and read what they are ACTUALLY thinking
Your Sim is standing at the counter. She looks fine. She is not fine. ๐
Inner Monologue lets you click any Sim in the world โ your household, a townie, a stranger at the gym, a cat, a ghost โ and read what is genuinely going through their head right now.
๐ง It is not random flavor text
This is the part I care most about. Every single thought traces back to something real about that Sim.
It reads:
๐ญ Traits โ how they think
๐ก๏ธ Mood โ and how strongly
โจ Moodlets โ the richest source of all, because a moodlet is a record of what just happened to them
๐ Needs โ hunger, energy, bladder, hygiene, social, fun
๐ผ Work โ their job, their level, whether their performance is quietly tanking
๐ School โ grades, homework, the report card they do not want you to see
๐ Relationships โ spouse, household, best friend, worst enemy, whoever they are quietly hung up on
๐ Wants โ their actual current wants, in their own voice
๐ฅ๏ธ What they are doing right now โ the computer, the workout, the washing up
So if a Sim thinks about grief, they really are mourning. If they think their job is going badly, their performance really is in the red. You can always trace it back.
๐จ Every Sim thinks differently
The same situation reads completely differently depending on who it is happening to. Traits and mood pick the voice.
Both of these Sims are hungry:
Cheerful Sim:
"Could really go for a sandwich. Or four."
Gloomy Sim:
"I am hungry. I am always hungry. Nothing ever actually fills it."
Both of these Sims are on the computer:
Lazy Sim:
"I will get up in a minute. That is a lie and I know it."
Genius Sim:
"I have got about nine things open and I am reading none of them properly."
There are twelve voices in total โ gloomy, grumpy, cheerful, goofball, romantic, lazy, active, genius, loner, evil, confident and neutral โ plus dedicated writing for children, teens, toddlers, infants, pets and ghosts. ๐
๐ถ Yes, toddlers. Yes, pets. Yes, ghosts.
They do not get adult thoughts with smaller words. They get their own logic entirely.
TODDLER IS THINKING...
BLOCK.
- that is my cup
- being carried again
- eyeing the stairs
REX IS THINKING...
Someone is at the door. Someone might be at the door. I should mention it.
- that noise machine
- staring at food
MITTENS IS THINKING...
The bowl is empty. The bowl has been empty for a very long time.
- plotting something
- the red dot
AGNES IS THINKING...
The house is very quiet now. I keep cooking for two.
- still grieving
- old friends
๐ Click again
A mind does not foreground the same thought forever, so neither does this. Repeat clicks surface different thoughts, weighted so urgent things usually lead โ a grieving Sim mostly thinks about grief, but sometimes about work, because that is how it actually goes.
๐ฏ๏ธ Heavy thoughts, your call
Grief, loneliness, regret and resentment are all in there, but they only ever appear when the Sim's actual state earns them. A happy, healthy, well-fed Sim never spirals.
If you would rather keep things light, one console command turns the heavy range off entirely: think.dark
๐ก๏ธ It will not break your game
โ Overrides no EA tuning and replaces no EA function
โ Every pack supported, none required โ any trait, mood, moodlet, career or want, automatically
โ No hardcoded IDs, so patch day does not break it
โ Works on Sims from other mods too, because it reads real state rather than listening for events
๐ป Install
Drop both files into your Mods folder:
InnerMonologue.package
InnerMonologue.ts4script
Turn on Enable Custom Content and Mods and Script Mods Allowed in Game Options โ Other, then restart.
โ ๏ธ Script mods only load one folder deep โ Mods/InnerMonologue/ is perfect, Mods/Scripts/Mine/InnerMonologue/ will not load.
Then just click a Sim and pick What are you thinking? ๐ญ
๐ง Commands
Ctrl+Shift+C for the console:
think.show โ read your active Sim without the pie menu
think.dark โ toggle the heavy emotional range
think.menu โ re-add the pie menu entry if it goes missing
think.why โ show exactly what state produced the last thought
Thank you so much for the support, it genuinely keeps these coming. ๐

As much as I loved this mod, I had to remove it. The mod worked perfectly which was good as I have a very heavily modded game. But with this mod + your Burnout mod, they entirely dominate the first page of the interactions pie menu with other sims. It has both the "how am I holding up?" and "how are you holding up?" coming up in the first page of the pie menu, as well as the Burnout ones with both the "you & I" options. Don't get me wrong, I really loved this mod and the Burnout one. I want them in my game. I've been enjoying your other mods so far too. But when the first interactions pie menu pops up with only these interactions from this mod, I feels like a brick wall when playing. Please let me know if there's some pie menu organizer from you I'm missing, or if I've done something wrong. Other than that, your mods are kick a$$. Genuinely, they've enhanced my gameplay tenfold :)
will this clash with other tuning mods like MCC?
THIS IS TOOOO FIRE
