Neighborhood Newspaper gives your Sims a weekly paper written entirely from real events in your save. Not random flavor text, actual marriages, actual deaths, actual promotions, happening to actual Sims in your world, most of whom you will never click on. 🥹

🛡️ Why this one won't break your game

Most mods that report on events have to hook the game's marriage, birth, death and career code. That's how you end up in everyone else's error reports, and how a mod dies on patch day.

This one doesn't do that. It quietly takes a census of every Sim every few Sim-hours, and compares it to last time. Anything that changed becomes a story. That means:

• ✅ It overrides no EA tuning and replaces no EA function — it cannot conflict with your other mods

• ✅ Every pack supported, none required — any career, any death type, any life stage, automatically

• ✅ Patch-proof by design — there are no tuning IDs to break

• ✅ It even reports events caused by OTHER mods — if something else marries two Sims, the paper still runs the wedding, because it reads the world rather than listening for events

💻 Install

Drop both files into your Mods folder:

• NeighborhoodNewspaper.package

• NeighborhoodNewspaper.ts4script

Then turn on Enable Custom Content and Mods and Script Mods Allowed in Game Options → Other, and restart.

⚠️ Script mods only load one folder deep — Mods/NeighborhoodNewspaper/ is perfect, Mods/Scripts/Mine/Newspaper/ won't load.

☕ First read

The very first time you open the paper on a save, you'll get an introduction issue about your town. population, the biggest household, your most successful resident, your elders. That's because there's no history to compare against yet!

Play a few days and real news starts rolling in. 📬

Ctrl+Shift+C to open the console:

• nhn.show — open the paper without the pie menu

• nhn.census — force a news check right now

• nhn.menu — re-add the pie menu entry if it goes missing

• nhn.stories — see how much news is stored
