Inclusim - A Disability & Accessibility Mod | Announcement

I’m still deciding on the name, if you couldn’t tell LOL.

Anyway, I’m currently working on a huge, fully fleshed-out and carefully researched mod focused on disability, accessibility, and different ways of experiencing life.

I know this can be a sensitive subject, and I want the mod to feel respectful rather than stereotypical. If anything ever feels inaccurate, uncomfortable, or misrepresentative, please let me know. I’m completely open to listening, learning, and making changes.

The autism-related features will be influenced by my own experiences as an autistic person, while the other parts of the mod will be created through extensive research and community feedback. Please leave your ideas and suggestions in the comments!

Currently planned features:

Autism

  • Sensory overload

  • Stimming

  • Special interests

  • Masking during social events and while visiting public lots

  • Self-soothing interactions

  • Comfort and support from family and friends

  • Custom animations, buffs, moodlets, and interactions

Genetics

You will be able to manually activate the mod for your active Sim by assigning them a hidden trait through a pie menu.

Some disabilities and conditions, including autism, may also have a chance of being inherited. The likelihood will depend on the traits and criteria of both parents. This system will be expanded significantly as development continues.

Wheelchair Users

  • Walking and running animations replaced with a custom wheelchair object and animations

  • Gameplay designed around accessibility, with stairs and certain environments creating realistic challenges

  • Elder Sims may begin using a cane and later transition to a wheelchair, entirely under player control

  • Additional wheelchair-friendly animations and interactions where possible

I unfortunately cannot replace every animation in the game with a wheelchair-accessible version, but I’ll do my best to make the experience feel as immersive, functional, and respectful as possible.

This is still very early in development, so nothing is final yet. I’d love to hear what features, disabilities, accessibility tools, interactions, or systems you would like to see included!

As someone with Depression/Anxiety, RA, Fibromyalgia, Avascular Necrosis, and having had 19+ operations, including 3 joint replacements....(sorry that was a long sentence lol) I love this. This game definitely helps when I'm feeling down.

I would be happy if I saw deafness being included. I am one myself, and of course it would have a spectrum. It would be amazing to see my Sims be able to sign and communicate in Simlish sign language! Amazing post!

Interested in seeing if a chair lift would be possible, like elders use to go up and down stairs. 🥺

Ramps in build mode would be possible?

As someone with chronic pain who uses a wheelchair anywhere that requires a lot of walking, I really appreciate this inclusivity!

I saw you were working on the wheelchair animations, and I wanted to say it would be so cool if other mobility aids were included, maybe with some shared animations (like using a rollator and pushing a wheelchair could be similar). I think representation for chronic pain and invisible disabilities would be awesome. I'm so excited to see this come to life!

I would like to see POTS and other chronic illnesses representation in the sims as I have POTS

J
Juliet · July 14, 2026

I have fibromyalgia, and I agree! Some days are always going to be better than others, so a moodlet for a "flare" day would be awesome. Also, I'm sorry. I know POTS is no fun. <3

Ahhh this is great news! I always have a ton of ideas but I know I've given quite a few already so I'm happy to wait and see where this goes for now. I'm very excited! Thank you for all your hard work!

I was just talking about wanting a mod that uses wheelchairs, etc. I love that you are doing this :)

Chronic pain is a big one. I would love to see a mod that can represent Fibromyalgia but not to the point of not being able to do anything with said sim. I believe there was one that made you tired easier and you needed to rest more often. We for sure need this mod in general. I can't wait to see what you come out with.

I personally have agoraphobia, ptsd, anxiety, tics, asthma and am a late diagnosed autistic that is learning to cope with the unmasking of my autistic stems and traits. Inclusion is so desperately needed. Also am apart of the lgbtqia+ community.

I absolutely love this because I've worked with kids with autism when I was in middle school, and my godbrother has autism, and so does my boyfriend, and I can't wait for this mod :)

Good for you! I'm honestly not sure I'd use it, but I'm glad it will be available. I was told several years ago (by an orthapaedic surgeon who had a lousy attitude) that if I didn't let him do spinal surgery on me, that I'd be in a wheelchair sooner rather than later! Nope! And hubs and I know we made the right choice after his name came up at several other surgeon meetings. Not. Good. Unfortunately I have been using a wheelchair at airports, and in concerts that are SRO. I'm honestly glad I have it, so many people offer to help us with luggage and so on :) .... and I often get good stuff from the bands! :) Anyway, hubs and I are both struggling with the realization that we both had ADD. Not diagnosed officially, but it's pretty obvious. I would like to see that, because I'm honestly confused about it :/ I just turned 67 last month and I didn't think I'd ever develop it! Yeah.. hubs realized my patting his stomach, or my own, without realizing I'm doing it :/ We both have fidget rings and I do find that helps somewhat :)

I'd love to see some chronic pain representation in Sims. As a spoonie, I'd love to see a sim with limitations to their daily activities, like brain fog making learning harder, being too tired to cook or increased pain after the effort of standing to cook or clear etc. The days getting out of bed feel impossible, and leaving the house feels like too much effort. How being out is constantly followed by a sense of 'i just want my bed' all the time even when it's an enjoyable occasion... The bad day flare ups or good days feeling like you can do loads then suffering for it if you overdo it too much. Exercise is more than just 'feeling sore 'for a few hours the next day it's a guaranteed flare up day. Brain fog, constant fatigue, pain at the slightest thing especially exertion, the stomach issues that usually go hand in hand with it, the difficulties maintaining a job, home chores, family etc...

You are an absolute BEAST, you know that? Thank you for all that you do for us.❤️❤️❤️❤️

J
JennaonSims · July 13, 2026

i'd quite like different levels of the autism spectrum instead of just one, represent all of us with different struggles, more buffs/different interactions depending on needs? Noise cancelling headphones would be amazing as well. Maybe something for the parents like 'have meeting with teachers' 'advocate for __' etc? One thing i'd really like would be a cubby/sen safe bed in sims. My little brother has one and he adores it and it keeps him safe, it would be nice to have that in the game, adds realism. I suppose i'm mainly suggesting realistic features and tools, not making it cutesy or one size fits all? Sorry if this is a lot, i can't find any mods for inclusivity that represent me and my brother at the same time.

J
Julyan · July 13, 2026

Second this. There's so much diversity within the condition it'd be good if it either had different 'types' or just a variety of symptoms to pick and choose from to customise the experience. School related things for sure as well like your parent advocacy suggestion, and maybe different moodlets for the sim with ASD - a day of sensory overload, a meltdown, a social flop, an unexpected change of routine causing upset... But things like that don't stop when you finish school, uni and even work can be difficult too even if some get better at masking and stuff. One of the packs already brought Sims feeling like they need a break from work or having a midlife crisis or something, right? Something similar for the stresses of life and needing a break from work, or a mental health day, or even to find a new job because the boss is awful and inconsiderate....

This is so cool! Don't forget sickle cell disease and the trait. I have the trait thankfully I don't have the full illness. I'm also in a wheelchair ❤️Thank you for this mod

R
Randee Sampson · July 13, 2026

I agree . I have the trait and my son had the disease. If you want to add and need some information please feel free to contact me

I think it’s really cool that you’re doing this and I really like your mods so I’m excited! I have adeepindigo’s mod that’s similar to this but it’s only for mental disabilities and disorders. Fun, but I always wished it had a little more :P

N
Niko Pressley · July 13, 2026

I think it should be free as in inclusion and diversity should not be something people have to pay for as someone with a disability I think eventually it should go public

J
JellyPaws · July 13, 2026

Planning on it, and a great point! I want this mod to be accessible to everyone. :)
