Video Preview: Wielding Knives in D&D – Using the Fiction Players Bring to the Table
Hi friend!
Here's a video preview of an upcoming YouTube video called "Wielding Knives". Enjoy!
Please note, if the video is marked "private" and you can't see it, that means I've scheduled it to appear on the general YouTube page and it will be back up in two or three days. When I schedule it, the video goes from "unlisted" to "private". There doesn't seem to be a way around it. Sorry!

Love the flexibility, agreement and fiction-first gaming. Small feedback on the example: Why would the PCs roll perception to notice the Yetis' approach? This is now THE exciting event. It's HAPPENING. The PCs did the thing in the fiction. Unless the GM is going to wave them off and say "no...there are no yetis. Jokes on you!" then why roll at all? There are no stakes or risks for failure. Bascially, this is me soapboxing against the "roll something that won't really have consequences" instead of just passing the exciting info to the players. It's a bad D&D trope that has to go, especially with a gaming style where knives can succeed.
You're right, they're going to notice the yetis no matter what. I often roll group perception checks to see WHO sees the yetis first.
Great video and topic. I always direct new players to this reddit thread when they make a character. That is the first place I read about the knifes

Really cool video, we've been doing something similar in our game group, and I'll have to put a spin on the perception because the common saying is "don't feed the GM"
Sometimes I don't think they can help it =)
Glad you covered this. As a player, I’ve been hit with the punishment stick. As a DM, if I do this, there’s an award at the end. Whether magic, social or what not.
