Pulse (2001): How J-Horror predicted 2020
Hey lovely patrons!
Happy Friday to ya! While working on making the Collections section of the Patreon a bit more robust and streamlined, we realized that we never posted Brian's video essay to the Patreon, so, we're fixing that now! Please enjoy this video from a few years ago, back when we did video essays! It's about ghosts! In the Internet!!!!
Your Worst of All Possible Hosts,
A.J., Brian, and Josh

Good news: The year is 2026 and this essay totally isn’t somehow still applicable to the world we live in now. That would be upsetting
I did a J Horror episode of Fruitless in October and used it as an excuse to force my guest for the ep to watch this video essay. Genuinely one of my favorite video essays.
I actually love all your YouTube stuff. Probably wouldn't have found the Podcast without it.
I almost showed this video to my classroom a couple of years ago. I ended up not doing it because I had some ideological issues with it, and it felt like a dirtbag move to show something from people I know that I had issues with. Still. FANTASTIC video
Taking this opportunity to recommend everyone watch the BBC made-for-TV movie GhostWatch, for more top-notch ghost-story-as-media-criticism content.
It's so good
