Is Anne also Swedish? Because hiring someone to play Santa at your family Christmas is absolutely a thing we do. Unlike in the English-speaking tradition, you expect to see him in person on Christmas Eve, usually after dinner, and receive one present per person (or sometimes just all of them) out of his hand. I think the most common way to do this is to have a family member pretend to step out and then come back dressed up, but having a stranger do it is definitely a thing that happens and a thing that’s been done multiple times in my family.
