Coming back and hearing about "PR for the Hospital" is hilarious considering this recent series by propublica on the very hospital in Albany GA https://projects.propublica.org/albany-georgia-hospital/
My folks started a ministry with the CRC denomination called Family Fire and it was about “stoking your family’s fire” and it’s a family and marriage ministry and this movie came out about that same time. The local Christian radio station did add for my folks’s ministry and then made fun of their name because fireproof had just come out and they said something to the effect of “we’re getting conflicting messages. Should the fire be in your marriage or are you protecting your marriage from the fire” and we never forgave that radio station for making fun of them. This movie is awful, and I will never forgive the creators for making it.
That clip they played where Kirk Cameron yelled at his wife was so jarring. It was actually triggering for me in a way I wasn't expecting.... I'm really enjoying the episode overall so far, but I'm going to take a few minutes for my heart to stop pounding and my anxiety to lessen.
I thought it was weird when his wife showed up on red and said, "You promised me you’d take me there again someday. But you never did. Well, I’m alone there now, In our ‘special place’… Waiting for you... Waiting for you to come to see me."
My boat would be named St. Francis of A-Sea-Sea
I had to use this to prove that I wasn't hallucinating this movie. I was explaining how they used a boat as a surrogate for porn, how they got everyone to volunteer, and no one believed that I was talking about a thing that existed.
I still think you should try and get Maggie Mae Fish… https://youtu.be/Gh581gMSZY0 (Yes, there are other things you can talk about.)
god, you mentioned doing the Extreme Days movie. I haven't seen it in so long, but I genuinly don't even know if theres enough happening in that movie to last a full episode without some sort of supplemental material. Christian Hijinks: The Series of Montages. It says so little, but also so much about being in my bible study in the early 2000's, and the 8 (yes, eight) mission/road trips we took to mexico.
As someone who used to live in Albany, this is a surreal episode. I have a friend who worked on one of Sherwood's movies. Yes, volunteer for Jesus lol. It's the "big" city in its area. I live in an even smaller city now. Some juicy Albany lore, it's a fairly liberal city because all the rich, business owning white people moved to/live in a very small city next door called Leesburg. They love to brag about how good their school system is. Don't worry, we still have some old money white people in Albany, who else is going to charge ridiculous rents so local businesses keep closing up shop downtown.
Also, there is no "pizza bar" and if you hang out with the right (wrong) crowd you WILL hear a lot of Christian music. Not to mention the businesses that play it. GOD I got so sick of fucking Casting Crowns back in the day. Thank you everyone who came to my Ted Talk.
What was the episode of radio free tote bag they recommended at the end?
I've heard the stat that 50% of marriages end in divorce like it's the worst thing ever. That actually sounds perfect to me. Marriage has a good enough success rate that it's worth doing if that's what you're into but half of them should end. Better than coercing people to stay together just to make a boat perv happy
Milf eye doctors in your area want to give you a great deal on Lasik surgery
At some point the cum drops will be so numerous and played in the right sequence that they will comprise the melody that ends the world. The lament cumfiguration if you will. I have yet to determine if this is by Brian's design or more of a 100-monkeys-with-fleshlights situation
i spend that whole 140 minutes ruminating on how strange and pitiable it is that evangelicals seem unable to grasp the tranquil side of eroticism, and how awful it is to make sexuality so inextricable from violence, and then i show up here and write this
You all live in my brain with all these episode topics you've been doing. I remember my dad making the whole family watch all three of the movies at the time, his favorite was fireproof. So fun lol thanks for covering this. I always watch whatever reviews of fireproof I can find.
I spent a week in Albany, GA for work once--pretty weird place! Ray Charles Plaza was kind of cool I guess..
Ok this is my dream episode of TWOAPW
Please let there be a You Lucky Dog reference
