97 - Whit Fucking Dies (For Real This Time) (feat. The Socialist Shelf) [Whit’s Endless Summer 26]
Jacob Dallas-Main and Joss Olson (The Socialist Shelf) join the lads in Odyssey for adventures in Hollywood self-absorption and saying goodbye to the god-king of Odyssey himself: John Avery Whittaker. Topics include using art to exact petty revenges, the moral dubiousness of post-mortem performances, and the long, illustrious career of the original Whit: Hal Smith.

These interstitials truly are incredible. I'm hooked on the Lorne Lagorium saga
The general revelation of a semi-nude truck 😂
Hearing the proto ytp technology to pilot whit's corpse around like a marionette was super fucking grim
Not gonna lie, the music que for the earthquake made me think we were about to spin into a Final Fantasy Tactics fight.
I feel like this podcast is deprogramming latent shit in my brain.
Bernard's whole conversation with that child was already creepy, but I fucking HAAAATTTE that he went into her BEDROOM (・_・;)
when stepdad started playing i literally jumped out of my chair #missyouultramark
Also, speaking of semi-nude trucks, the modern-day remake of Bernard and Eugene's road trip should make the car a Cybertruck
I think the real moral of the Hollywood story is that if you're a neglectful parent then weird evangelicals might spirit your kids away like fey creatures
Big Bargain Bill's, home of challenge pissing
fuck you, odyssey!
I am here for the Gerald R Ford International Airport appreciation. Two terminals, three restaurants, 15 minutes in TSA 👌😩
Alan Young being the voice of Scrooge made me realise just how similar Whit is to Scrooge, except in a world where everyone just thinks Scrooge is good and cool and has no flaws whatsoever
For some reason this episode cuts off at the 56 minute mark for me?
can't replicate this on our end. try redownloading it?
“Good enough for a US president!” You mean the one that was assassinated at the Pan-American exposition in Buffalo? Nice.
Nothing sells AI Brian more than than the utter silence
You guys were talking about how the AiO writers not knowing any references outside the 1950s made me want to point out a reference I think you guys missed. Smith-Hammer Films is almost certainly a reference to the British horror production company Hammer Film Productions which was the big company churning out a lot of edgy, transgressive B movies… in the late 1950s lol. They wanted to reference something adjacent to Roger Corman or whatever but all they knew was the 1950s version of that
I messaged you guys about an episode suggestion. hope you consider it
Hip Hobson is the rapper alias of James Dobson
The old Whit is dead; the new Whit struggles to be born; now is the time of monsters.
september, 1994. tom riley is master of odyssey. only jack allen stands before him. airports are now battlefields
Also you missed pointing out the (probably unintentional) coding of the unrequited gay Tom Riley has for Whit
The lads do a bad ben episode when
Wes craven was actually raised fundamentalist and one of the reasons it’s so fucked up is because he had never seen a horror movie so he thought this was just what all horror was
Scratching "TVLand Reference" off my Weird Conservative Childhood bingo sheet.
Banger
Whit at the airport was 100% this bit... https://youtu.be/5xbyJGM1iUY
I'm SO ready for more of the Lorne bits, probably the most surprising parts of the show
I've been eagerly awaiting the episode where you guys cover Bible Man since I started listening to this podcast 🤞
I haven't been eagerly awaiting a bible man episode but I'll start today. That would make for great episode
Oh, I completely agree with Brian. The Bishop's Wife is terrible. It's like "what if Miracle on 34th St was Catholic propaganda?"
