42 - 1776
The lads drink rum, swat flies, and endure the heat of Philadelphia in July as they try to crack the egg that is the Sherman Edwards/Peter Stone musical extravaganza: 1776. They discuss the surprisingly subversive book, the hit-or-miss score, and the inherent rot at the core of the American experiment.

The United States is built on a rotten foundation, and nothing but rot can come from that.
I still do not understand the AJ's Horse Corner of the Goku Inflation thing.
From now on when I see a big jacked up truck with a 1776 sticker im gonna just imagine they are big musical fans.
I started listening to the newest shows, and then thought that I should switch to chronological order, so that I could understand the more esoteric bits. Now I find that for every AJs horse corner, there's a Goku inflation that just comes outta fucking nowhere and defies any explanation
I was actually in a production of 1776 when I was younger. I went to a single-sex school, and this was basically the only musical we could stage. (We hired professional actresses for the two female roles.)
I’m just imagining Jack Warner in the early 70s accosting random people on the street, saying, “President Nixon is my best friend! I made Ronald Reagan! He was a nobody before I showed up! Hey, why is everyone walking away?!…”
Let me go ahead and vote early for your next listener poll. More DBZ Goku gluttony content please
