Fancy Movie Time #40: Secret Honor (1984)
On this episode of Fancy Movie Time with Brian and A.J., the Fancy Lads make their way to a drawing room in Saddle River, New Jersey to scream conspiracy theories into a microphone as they cover Robert Altman's 1984 Nixon-fest: Secret Honor. Does Philip Baker Hall's stunning performance and the DIY nature of the filmmaking make it a Fancy Feast? Or does the unhinged script make it a Failure to Fancy? One thing's for sure: nobody knows what Spiro T. Agnew sounds like, least of all Richard Nixon.
Next Episode: The Old Dark House (1932) feat. Aysha U. Farah.

I love PBH!Nixon’s final unhinged monologue. "They said they wouldn’t buy a used car from me, but they gave me the biggest vote in American history!"
Here to recommend Frank Langella’s autobiography “Dropped Names: Famous Men and Women As I Knew Them” as a cornerstone in the gossipy little bitch genre
Maybe I’m just a deranged Nixon autist but I don’t find the film particularly esoteric in its Nixon history it’s more interested in the deeply pitiful and disturbing character of the man but maybe that’s just me
I’m not quite old enough to remember them, but I’m old enough to know how the boomers listened to music in the early 80s: 8 tracks!
I genuinely love eight tracks it’s the cheapest vintage music thing to get into because it’s shit and nobody should care
I really enjoyed the sidebars about heroes of the fourth turning and Anna Deveare Smith. Fires in the mirror is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.
I am convinced that trump conducted some sort of black magic ritual to make himself immune to assassination in exchange for his body rotting from the inside
This episode confirms my belief that Brian and I are basically the same person, except he's more depressed and I am more of a drug goblin. Great episode lads.
You guys are going pretty hard on Spiro and I don't think that's fair. The final evolution, Fearow, is only one point of speed slower and it's hidden ability, sniper, is stronger in certain team compositions that pidgeot's tangled feet or big pecks abilities. It also lacks the normal type which gives it a defensive advantage against fighting types
I prefer Spyro
