Fancy Movie Time #35: Broadcast News (1987)
On this episode of Fancy Movie Time with Brian and A.J., the Fancy Lads unplug their phones and have a good cry as they cover James L. Brooks' 1987 ode to the joys of work: Broadcast News. Does the electric chemistry of the three leads make this movie a Fancy Feast? Or does its overlong runtime make it a Failure to Fancy? One thing's for sure: that Gracie Films' tune sure is catchy.
Next episode: Ordet (1955).

Joan Cusack was one of my childhood crushes. Her and Catherine O'Hara.
I need the clip of that dog standee getting his head blown off by one of Mrs. Met's kids. I say Mrs. Met bc we all know Mr. Met can't perform like he used to
I want to thank you for your offhand mention of Chips Challenge. I have been trying to remember what that game was for the last 20+ years. Also adding another movie to the list.
Pinter slander!!! His production of Oleanna not only restored Mamet’s original ending (he literally bullied Mamet into letting him do it) but was the Only Good Production of That Play Ever™ because Pinter agreed that the student is right and did an explicitly feminist reading of it. (We talked about this at length on the Call of Cthulhu/Oleanna episode of Dungeons + Drama Nerd’s Skitbash.)
All of these Windows sounds reminds me of the famous Steve Ballmer quote, "Diopters! Diopters! Diopters!"
It genuinely made my day to hear about the light getting turned on
plsplspls talk more about breaking bad!!!
Glad you're doing Ordet, because I finally have an opportunity to share my favorite YouTube prank ever (which has only gotten funnier since they removed the thumbs-down count): https://youtu.be/mzI7hBINI2E (spoilers for the ending of Ordet). There is such brilliance in how specific and esoteric and mean it is--it will only hit a couple of hundred people a year, at most, but it will make them SO mad.
All I want from Santa this year is an animated movie fmt episode
perfect blue!!
