There really aren’t any other shows that do what you guys do. Thank you all.
I too came on the "walking home in a straight line" bus but stayed for (and just finally got caught up on) Whit's Endless Summer. Watching this today that I realized who was who visually, I had AJ and Brian swapped for some reason. Also, Detroit or GR show when?
Now I am deeply curious about "Heart of Duckness". Huey, Dewey, and Louie going upriver to find Scrooge?
Here's the tagline for Duckness: "It's the Berlin Conference of 1884 and Europe teeters on the brink of war over its colonial holdings in Africa. Every character is a duck. And we're all corkscrewed."
Good thing you know Australia's greatest Smurf expert (Ding-a-Ling "Tom Walker" Smurf) for the inevitable Smurfs episode
I've been binging the Endless Summer episodes since becoming a Patron, and I finally had a dream about y'all. I was in a cluttered electronics shop looking to setup an entertainment PC, and you guys helped me pick a "sound card" I could solder onto my motherboard and it would work like a speaker. 😂
I'm someone who is not and has never been a FAN of anything or anyone. That doesn't mean I'm not passionate about anything, I just don't have in me, whatever it is that makes people be fanatical about stuff. Having said that, I've noticed that I keep referring to this podcast team as "my boys" when I discuss an episode with my better half and that I have to be very careful about parasocial tendencies. So this is as close as someone like me will ever be to fandom. It's no exaggeration when I say that I love this podcast and I think you are beautiful, BEAUTIFUL people doing beautiful work. You enrich my life in many ways - not just by encouraging me to engage with media I otherwise would've missed or not given as second chance, but also by making me see it in a new light, giving me an appreciation I didn't have before (f.ex. I played "The Dig" alongside the podcast) TLDR: Thank you! <3
1: thank you so much for the lovely response to my question, much to chew on! 2: I'm 7 minutes into listening to Music for 18 Musicians and oh my god this is beautiful, I think I need to listen to more of this.
I can't wait to hear you do Detroit: Become Human in the age of (what we've been calling) AI in the real world. Also, if you ever want to read and/or talk about a webcomic relevant to your media territory, I cannot recommend Dumbing of Age highly enough
A friend of mine who I recently got into this show described how she tells your voices apart as “AJ sounds like a children’s show presenter, Josh sounds like a dork (or a college professor), Brian sounds the most depressed.” This was meant with the utmost love and appreciation.
Also, I knew what Josh looked like already from the Traditional Scrench, but seeing AJ and Brian’s faces was extremely disconcerting. Not sure how I pictured them looking, but somehow still not what I expected.
Well, I’m very excited for the Hair and Muppet Christmas Carol episodes! I’m not that into D and D, but a lot of people I know are, and AJ’s absolutely correct in saying that it sounds like someone describing their crazy dream. They tell you this extremely intricate thing and you have no idea how to respond. The theatrical Multiverse and sounds really amazing and in my specific niche though. I’d love to hear more about that.
Jake is on Bluesky, and if you don’t reach out to him I will, because I would like to hear that Lost episode.
Smurfs victory, snorks failure
'Homestuck Made This World' is a (now completed) podcast that does a thorough dive into it, I think it'd be exactly what you three would have wanted to do if you did it, and it's already done for you
Hitman stage adaptation that gets really into the Rube Goldberg nature of the assassinations and lots of stagey red string connecting things together Ala the Hitman mobile game Also since very few dice rolls are story ending failures in Disco Elysium you could have the dice checks live on stage and make everyone’s job a living hell (here memorize five different scripts!)
Delightful. Like a box of chocolates. I sat down, thinking I would eat just one (watch a few minutes) and instead I finished the whole box.
“We’re not going to give any hard yeses” (proceeds to give like fifteen hard yeses)
definitely agree no one is out there doing it like 'all. You have an INTERMISSION!!!! I still find myself singing "Write for a Baritone".
Anyone who's been hoping worst of all would talk about homestuck should go listen to the podcast homestuck made this world, it'll scratch that itch
So glad the Muppet question went down as well as I hoped it would.
I think that question definitely won the Funniest Responses award, and is probably in the running for Best Question award of this AMA.
To clarify I have listened to the whole podcast minus lads casts twice.
Minus the lads cast I'm in the same boat. Lot of time to sit and listen to podcasts while working.
Hearing how excited AJ was to do Muppet Christmas carol just made my month.❤️
1. Shocked my name was said correctly. Nice job. 2. Also happy to stump you all for a second.
It was definitely this year, I remember listening to it on break during my brief return to education
Apologies I was just curious if y'all liked Florence + the machine I didn't think you would ever cover her for an episode 😅 but her Gatsby musical is really good and better than the Broadway one
i (josh) have abiding respect for anyone who can pull off anything florence + the machine at karaoke. but you gotta come correct because of how disappointing it is if you can't actually do it
Seeing your faces has been an earth shattering, yet satisfying experience. Thank you, gentlemen. Side note, do Immortality with Jacob Gellar if you can.
I second this! The way TWOAPW and Geller talk about media is very similar where jokes are made sure but also going deep into non-serious topics to find what things really mean.
Absolutely loved your answers to my question. You didn't read my name to credit it, but I think that is 100% on me.
Long shot with KODP but if anyone was gonna talk abour a simulator that has paintings instead of graphics, I was guessing it’d be you folks. More cows and divine LARP for me lol.
unrelated to the episode, but if the patreon page is to be believed, this is yall's 451st post. the immersive sim number. neat!
I adore Coheed and Cambria and would say that is a worthy "No." The music is interesting. The more interesting aspect, is the concept aspect of the band, which is a sprawling, audaciously-mid space opera across 10 (currently, there are two more planned) albums, adapted and expanded via 3 1/2(+1/2)(+1/2) comic book series, 1 incredibly abstract graphic novel, several novellas, and at least one other Claudio Sanchez side-project. The most compelling thing about C&C is the paracosiality of the fact that frontman Claudio Sanchez writes most of the music autobiographically, and to get at any of the actual substance beyond *that* would require pirating everything outside of the music itself, as most of it has been out of print for at least a decade, and the more recent novellas were published as Collector's Edition inclusions.
there is also a pretty good podcast covering the whole lore of the thing, on the Abnormal Mapping network: The Amory Score https://www.abnormalmapping.com/tas/
