I thought I'd heard this one but apparently I'm remembering a YouTube video. Only partway through and excited/dreading hearing about the Lewis part. I didn't care too much about this game the first time I played it; I was suffering in a grad school I'd be forced out of and streaming it to my future partner so we were chatting and I wanted to play well and show off being a hashtag gamer (we hadn't played co-op games yet so I didn't know there was no need to do that), so it didn't click right. Then I listened to the aforementioned YouTube video and was stabbed repeatedly by suddenly remembering and understanding the premise plus realizing how deep the wound from Lewis was. I like my job, I'm doing what I ended up going to school for, but I *wanted* to be a writer. A video game writer, mostly (I love(d) coming up with ways to marry gameplay and story, I taught myself basic C++ so I could make an old-fashioned text-based choose your own adventure game), but I'd written stories and read voraciously forever. I dropped my Creative Writing degree to do Psych and Biology. I bought a house last year (with said partner, who is a skilled and starting to be successful artist [painting/digital] who I am supporting financially if you want to add another layer to this). I don't regret the choice. I'm trying to get back to writing. Emphasis on trying, because my job, that I mostly love, plus my mental and physical disabilities, kill me. I still write a little for Shadowrun and DnD games I run, and I used to write very elaborate TTRPG characters for my DMs. But my bigger ideas are like, acid reflux or something. They feel like they're going to burn their way out if I don't put them somewhere, and I both fear and desperately need to expel them before they do. A car almost hit mine on the way home from work today as I listened to this. I'm terrified I will die before I can even try to make it as a creative. Anyway I originally wanted to comment to say zoom-to-focus in Brian's Camera Corner was funny to me because that's sort of how some microscopy works lol sometimes you do need to zoom to be able to properly focus 😂
I love how once an episode AJ says something easy to clip out of context: "I think child death... is beautiful..."
The Lewis section is so painfully real. Being a creative person working in a monotonous, meaningless, unfulfilling job and coping with it through your fantasies, but in doing so you become completely alienated from reality because you have nothing else, and eventually you just decide to leave reality all together.
I love beyond good & evil
thanks, i hate genis the penis garter
i am begging for a life is strange episode honestly
Listened to this one twice in a row, which I've never done before. Great episode!
Umurangi Generation is a photography game that apparently does a pretty good job of translating the actual process of photography into mechanics, and also skating. And has very "dying empire" vibes.
I was also coming to say Brian should check out Umurangi Generation, if he hasn't.
The Stranger Things pilot script (Montauk) is the unfilmed TV pilot equivalent of a David Cage game in terms of not actually knowing the setting
When I was a bellman at a luxury hotel in the city, Megan Ellison was having a Hollywood lesbian (and a couple of bi women) party where also her dad was there, and someone dropped their phone in the toilet, and I got a huge tip to run to the bodega and buy them rice
pathologic mention! patho episode when
Brian, have you seen Lushfoil Photography Sim? It seems to do a pretty good job of simulating actual camera mechanics.
Saltiness is another fatal flaw of the popcorn trick. All in all it's just a bad idea. Why wasn't that taught in sex ed?
Reindeer were the second animal domesticated, after dogs.

As someone born and raised in Northern Idaho, the forests of Washington in particular have always had a lightly haunted quality to them and I wonder how much of that comes from the media about them.
I am absolutely a Worsty.
Beyond Good & Evil is a game with some fun camera biz.
