I keep coming back to what you said about the fans clamoring for more Eugene, or old Whit, or Bernard brought back by AI. It feels like a continuation of what I've come to see from larger communities like this: They only care about what they get, not how they get it. The same family that doesn't tip after Sunday brunch are the same people who don't care what AI is doing to people's jobs, as long as they can get a mildly amusing picture to share on their family text chain. And it aint just Christians who are this self centered or dumb with AI, but their declaration of virtues like mercy, generosity, and compassion make it especially gauling, I feel.

The Eugene ai genuinely just utterly ruined my day. Absolutely disgusting. Gross in general, but especially being used for the actor who went on a fucking four year union strike is despicable

Hi! I'm just catching up on old episodes since joining the Patreon - are the photos from this show posted anywhere? They sound like they should *not* be missed. Thanks!

I also came here hoping for the slide deck photos. Hoping somebody's got something archived! update: I see they got taken down at one point cause kids' faces were visible -- totally understandable!

Just want to confirm I found your show through the Eugene Lot tweet and have now listened to the entirety of Whit’s Endless Summer in two weeks or whatever. I am healed.

This was incredible. Please please please tell me this isn't the end of Whit's Endless Summer! I know AIO is horrible to listen to but yall's commentary on the episodes are so therapeutic (and hilarious!) 😅

Y'all's musical interludes bring me such sincere joy, I am awed by the amount of effort y'all put into this podcast

A.J., you've been told this so many ways already but I wanted to say, at the risk of overstating harm AiO is one of those hurt-people-hurt-people things where the most effective cure is to inflict the poison on someone naïve. Your horror and disgust are reasonable and sane and in that way it's like fresh water diluting this horrible brackish thing that's choking the roots of me and so many other listeners. I know you're willing to subject yourself to it but all the same I want to take the opportunity to echo Brian and offer my sincere apologies. This shit is really toxic and I'm grateful to you for what you provide for us by wading into it like this.

Hearing that some of the kids at the show were rowdy was kind of a shock. Hopefully it means most of those parents haven't read Dare to Discipline

since the episode where you guys discussed wooton's origin, i've been thinking about torry martin and his whole thing of being a perpetual bachelor who describes himself as "married to jesus". his instagram features a lot of pictures with friends, but his "best friend" rob is a notable recurring presence. just thought that was interesting.

Denver International Airport cultivates the conspiracy theories to cover up the truth. There was a billion dollar screwup in their first constructed automated baggage system, leading to all the wierd abandoned liminal spaces in the building.

The place sounds like an evangelical tourist trap. When you describe the kid meltdowns, the image I’m getting in my head is basically Max at Lester’s Possum Park from A Goofy Movie.

I’m picturing pulling off mascot Whit’s head and there is just a smaller whit costume underneath like a matryoshka doll.

Love that you posted the photos, but maybe pull them for now and blur the faces of any kids? I know if I'd been there I'd thank you for it.

Thank you for letting us know, that was an outdated deck! It has been removed and we'll post an updated deck soon!

J
Jordyn Clementi · August 7, 2024

Did you boys do anything actually fun in my second hometown other than the live show?

D
Dergon · August 7, 2024

Oh, Christian romance is HUGE (like Eugene). I work in a library in a rural state and they can't get enough of it, especially Amish romance (yes, non Amish people love to fetishize the Amish). Also period romances. I flipped through one by a very popular author and found a 20 yr old man thinking about marrying a 14 yr old once she was "of age." *vomit sounds*

a
alioth · August 7, 2024

If anyone would care to go down the rabbit hole, "inspirational" romance is the publishing subgenre you want. You're welcome / I'm so sorry

D
Dergon · August 7, 2024

Those pics are something else. Eugene? More like, Huge-een.

D
Dergon · August 7, 2024

Aw man, not surprised to hear about the AI shit. I'm wondering if they'll just do that after current Whit is gone

J

Wow, Whit was buddies with Idi Amin back in his NSA days

if your family is from the USSR it means you could convince like at least 1 dad that focus on the family is woke now by saying "how come my country doesnt get to be up there but north korea does" and then not say which country
