I'm really glad that I wasn't so online as a teenager to get all of the references (or fluent enough in English to understand them had I been really online), but I really appreciate all of you for explaining them. I also hate you because now I know about that game and its wider cultural context. That being said, the reading of the copypasta was perfect.

I gotta say for me this was possibly the weakest episode in a while, maybe it's just because I've never heard of this game before. But even with other episodes on topics unfamiliar to me you guys usually have me convinced that there is a worthwhile discussion to be had about that topic. The lack of Shaq Fu references could also have had something to do with the fact that there was an RPG Maker game in development around the same time called Shaq Fu RPG. I forget if it was ever finished, but it was fairly popular and I could imagine they were like well okay that's been done already.

Silvagunner is pretty much the sole reason I know of this game existing, learning about what exactly is about is eye opening, great episode, hope this RPG season continues

Shaqfu was the only fighting game I had as a kid, God it was terrible.

I was never really on 4chan or the something awful forums, but I did spend a lot of time on an anime themed forum called GaiaOnline, the rise and fall of that site is a saga in and of its self. Ever seen a forum with an economy? Want to see them mess it up so bad they need to introduce a new default currency? All in the pursuit of the coolest avatar. Lot of fond memories regardless.
