Exclusive Look at Our Clutter-Filled House
Hello everyone! Chloé here to bring you today’s Patreon post.
As some of you may know, for the duration of the summer, we welcomed Javiera as an environment art intern. The summer has ended, and Javi has returned to her studies since. Let’s wish her the best with school! (๑˘︶˘๑)
During her internship, she was tasked with helping to develop the look of clutter items and creating many of them. Today, I will be showcasing some of the items that were done in the previous months! Keep in mind, that:
1. Everything I will show today is still a work in progress
2. The scene’s lighting is not indicative of the game’s lighting, since I adjusted it so you can see our work better!
3. Most of the clutter items featured in this post are decorative and won’t be usable in gameplay.
4. This is Patron’s only post, so please do not share it; thank you!
For those who remember, we featured Javiera’s sketches in a previous Patreon post.
The entranceway with the new clutter items.
The coat hanger, boots, and leather bag that are found in the entryway. I very much wish I had this leather bag in real-life; it looks so classy.
The candles and our tiny cactus. Javi worked hard on handpainted textures for some of the items, and I think it paid off!
The slippers that are tucked under the hallway table. How fluffy are these slippers? They look like they are a must to stay warm in our cold Canadian winter.
The clutter items that can be found on the living room table. Grandma fancies birds (...and admittedly, especially ducks) and flora!
Our tea tray is stocked with books. You can stock your tea tray with the tastiest teas and treats, or anything you’d like! The world is your oyster.
Javi did some cute old-style designs for different pillows and throws. P.S.- You CAN change the colours of the mallard to make it another type of bird you may prefer.
Some of our packaged ingredients are on the dining room table. The family had a bigger breakfast planned, but until we finish our work on foods and their art style, they will have to enjoy a simple cereal meal.
The cupboard is filled with wine glasses and other wares. Who doesn’t know at least one elder with a dinnerware cabinet?
Closeup of the liquor bottles and dutch oven. Woah, I guess grandma can have some fun too once in a while! At least, the bottles are safely out of reach from the grandchildren.
The kitchen has been left in a state that suggests it has been used recently. Note that the food that is being prepared is not indicative of our cooking gameplay, since we haven’t really delved into that aspect just yet.
Closeup of the herbs Javi created so players can decorate their kitchen with fitting herbs. It was a little challenging because we had to optimize them as much as possible since they are quite small!
Closeup of some dishwashing clutter items. The downside of any big meal is the cleaning that’s necessary afterwards. At least, your Paras will be well equipped to get the job done!
Needless to say, our scene now has much more clutter items, and it fills up the space quite nicely. It is a bit strange looking at progress screenshots and seeing how bare it once looked. I cannot wait to see how you, the players, will fill up your spaces with the many clutter items we are creating!
It’s all for today, though! I wish you all a great weekend (*´∀`*)

please please please give millennial gray and crushed velvet !! ❤️
"Most of the clutter items featured in this post are decorative and won’t be usable in gameplay." ...*with blindfolds on* my inner eyes refuse to believe that. I don't care what diagram or explanation you used to say otherwise, I still won't believe it cause I refuse to see it for myself and to understand from the perspective of the developer of the game. I JUST DON'T BELIEVE IT. If I had a "enter a troll steam community comment" ticket, let me use it here; at least I help envision more possibilities (My God).
Important Questions!: 1. Did Javi had a brother name or was related to Java *sip*? 2. Which of the programmers had at least thought about calling Javiera "Java"? MmmHmm, how about "JaviScript"? Don't Lie!
This is awesome UwU because you don't need cc anymore for this style <3 cheers and keep the good work! We appreciate You!
So much love put into the details of this game! 💕
This is beautiful! It looks like a real home! Are some of the clutter items functional?
The duck ist sooooooo cute, i love it! Its nice that you can have so many clutter in paralives. I Always found the Sims homes way too clean. Clutter creates personallity and makes a home komfortable 😍
So Cute 😊I can't wait to start building with Paralives
This made me suddenly think about something. The text on the items here is in English, will it stay like that? Be translated for every language you'll localised the for ? Or will it go the simlish route with creating written Parabic (I think that's what was chosen for the language name) for all the in game text ?
Love clutter!!
Nothing gets me like some good clutter. Great job guys! This looks fantastic
If decor clutter or just objects in general had the option of being interactive I think that could give a way for paras to steal any items they want by click on it (well in attempt)
They like Ducks.
There's something about the aesthetic/style of the game that is already so pleasing to look at! Seriously looove it :D
me thinking the amount of CC I'd have to get for all of these in the sims XD
WOW these are amazing!!! I love these little things making the game so realistic. (I almost screamed for the tea tray! I always have one wherever I live. Thank you for the amazing work!
Amazing!!
Can we interact with clutter?
Why is this making me so excited for this game? I guess since I love building and decorating in the Sims so much, I’m really looking forward to building and decorating in paralives someday!
I love this so so much! So realistic, finally I don't have to feel bad for the state of my apartment (even when it is tidy to me). It's probably too much to ask, but have you considered an "auto clutter" function? Like ticking a box and some random items appear instead of having to place them one by one?
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more clutter and love what's already there
Will we be able to change the photos on the decor pieces too?
Amazing work Chloé & Javi!! I love the cosy look of all this so much! ✨♥️
I love all of this
These are so cute 🥺. Great job! Good luck with your studies Javi.
Great stuff as always! i cannot wait to fill my house to the brim with decorative items until my paras cannot navigate lmao
I like the extra storytelling behind the clutter items that give hints about a Para. I am absolutely in love with "comfort items", like pillows, candles, and herb/potted plants. Good job team! The Snackoo's cereal box is so adorable.
Seeing the high cupboards in the kitchen I was wondering how possible it would be to have a set of kitchen steps that the para could climb up to do an interaction of "tidy the cupboards". I guess it wouldn't actually have any gameplay value other than add good mood to a para who enjoys tidiness. But the ladder and animation could be actually functional if there is a child who needs to actually interact with something too high for them.
Wonderful as always ❤️
She did an amazing job! Is it possible to make some of the objects interactable?
ducks!!!! i love them. :)
In love with the clutter! Yay, Javiera!!! Awesome work!
Well someone likes ducks :P I hope the Paradevs gave Javiera a glowing evaluation and a warm letter of recommendation, because her work this summer was splendid. There are several objects that made me go "aw I want that in my home" (even though technically I don't have a Parahome :P ) but none as much as the porcelain duck on the coffee table, which for some reason, with its perfect texture, feels like the most successful piece among along list of successful pieces. The cooking herbs are also fantastic, and I do hope some gameplay can later be added to them. I'm slightly regretting not seeing the bag hanging from the chair, it had caught my eyes when the sketches were revealed because it felt so unique and interesting (a decorative slot on a chair ?!), but all in due time. Also... these are only 2D pictures, right ? Not new faces in the frames ? Because a new dog and new Parafolks would have been too much excitement for the old ticker XD
Both the modeling and the textures here are so impressive to me! Everything looks real and authentic while still maintaining the art style and I think it's thanks to the simple but detailed textures and realistic shapes. I can tell every single one of these items was handled with a lot of care. You guys aren't skimping on the polygon counts or the detail in the texture work and I love that! Just very, very, very impressive work! I would've liked to see the whole room again to see how it all comes together, but that would just be spoiling me. On another note, we have a home for an elder being built and the dev page tidbit that you all are currently working on creating the elder paras. Hmmm, I certainly have an idea of what the team's next big showcase could be!
This is so cute! All of the props make the home look very natural! I was wondering has path finding in game been figured out? In the Sims, a sim will try to walk around an object but give up if they can't. Will it be the same in Paralives? Or can paras attempt to step over objects or move them out of the way?
Ahhhh Im absolutely blown away by how cute everything is!! The duck pillow is something Im gunna need in real life lol Amazing work, love these updates. Just makes me more and more excited for whats to come.
Literally one of the best things I've seen in a long time! I love the aesthetic and can't wait to create a home in Paralives!!!!! I honestly appreciate the attention to detail y'all are putting into this game
It would be cool if the coats on the hanger could reflect what our para wears when they come in and hang up their coats.
It is so pretty im gonna cry of joy❤️ It is so Beautiful! ❤️
I LOVE all the clutter! 🦆
Best wishes to Javiera!
This is beyond my expectations, I don’t know what to say. The detail on these items is incredible!! Being able to decorate houses with these is gonna be AMAZING
I love all the little details!! You guys are doing such a great job. I can't wait to decorate with EVERYTHING
This is incredible. You all continue to blow my mind and make me more and more excited for this game! Amazing work Javi!!
Awesome development, this Team dissever all my Patron
So interesting! I noticed some items had English text. Will this be replaced with scribbles/a fake language, stay English, or be translated into different languages? Amazing job, guys!!
Hi Emma! We are still discussing whether or not we want a real language or not for labels and the like, and if we do use a real language on labels, if we will even chose English! So at this time, I unfortunately cannot give you an answer with 100% certainty
I love you all. Thank you.
Some cute stuff here :) I have the feeling this house aims to showcase older characters very soon ;)
🤭
Good luck javiera!
Amazing job! You’re teams attention to detail is beautiful, makes this home feel so lived in!❤️
I love all of this. It already has me plotting out my para's house. Keep up the good work
Same I'm a artist and I have already drawn up characters and floor plans for when this game comes up 💪 I'm prepared!
This is all so cute!! The granny/farmhouse style is one of my favorite interior styles atm, so I'm beyond happy that it's already in the game! (Of course everything is subject to change tho) Love how things look so far!
The clutter items look fabulous! I love that they are actually items one would use to decorate a house rather than some weird ones from other life simulation games. The fact that you can recolor the mallard to turn it into a different bird is such a great idea - small touches like that really sets you apart. Would it be possible for some clutter items to be both placed horizontally (like the cleaning gloves shown on the counter) and vertically, like hanging from the wall? I think that would be nice for (cleaning) gloves, potholders, dish brushes, hair brushes, tooth brushes, and so on. Two things I noticed though: - the door handles on the (cupboard) doors are quite low, also lower than on the regular door. Is this done on purpose? I've noticed in real life that in some countries door handles and light switches etc. can be at weird (for me) heights. - the Dutch oven's outline seems a bit strange, especially in the first pic it's showcased. Is this due to the metallic texture and/or the increased lighting or would that be normal in the game? Again, big fan of all the decorations. They really make the house look cozy and lived-in. Javi did a great job, hope all the work she did got her an excellent grade and that she'll graduate from her studies with flying colors.
Hi Zedef! I'm so glad that you like the clutter items! :) We are considering the idea of items being able to be placed on surfaces as well as walls, but nothing is confirmed at this point of development on that front. For the kitchen cabinets, it is true that different countries have different standards for heights and overall measurements. We have yet to decide the final standard that we will follow in the end. For the dutch oven, the outline you speak of is due to the increased lighting in the scene. It shouldn't have such strong highlights in the game itself!
This is so cool! Can't wait to see Paras interact with this world! 😍
Aw I love it all, it looks cozy and comfortable ☺️ those are so pretty! I can see what they are and it looks nicely stylized 🤩
So exciting!!
These look so nice! Out of curiosity, will the clutter items be interactive, or are they just decoration? (Ex: click coat hanger > put on coat or click on cereal > have breakfast) Either way, great job!
Hi Christine! Some clutter items may have some interactions in the end, but it's a bit early to say which items or what interactions they will have. Some clutter will be only decorative though.
this all looks so incredible its hard to believe its not the final product! I can see myself just zooming in on every item to appreciate those details (the nutritional label on the milk carton! awesome).
I would love for the parafolk to have useable keys which they need to open the front door if it is locked. They could give a key to their children when they are old enough...
Even if it's when a para is the first entering an empty lot
“Who doesn’t know at least one elder with a dinnerware cabinet?” Me, 26, side-eyeing my dinnerware cabinet 😆 Jokes aside, the clutter looks incredible! Already looking forward to decorate builds :)
Epitomizes charm and 'cozy' in every way! 💓 Thank you for your wonderful work Javi and best wishes for you at school!!
Yall this clutter look is so pretty. It reminds me of studio ghibli
Being a big fan of SimLicy's builds, I can tell you that it's the clutter that makes a house look like a home, lived in, cozy and real. These are fantastic!
Is that booze!? 🤩 We'll have real booze in the game, not just "juice"? Also I love that these items don't feel US-centric. Good job!
Btw, I know those bottles are clutter items, but their existence gives me hope we won't pretend alcohol isn't a part of life.
Javiera, you did an AMAZING job! All the best in school! 😄
I actually cannot express how happy this makes me! Filling up a place with clutter is my FAVORITE and these items are fantastic! I hope Javi knows she did an AWESOME JOB!
These look amazing and all the little details like the paper towels and the sponge
Omg this art style fills me with love everything is so cute I love the way the flour looks and the back splash in the kitchen is bringing me to tears
Wow! These look great! Everyday old lady clutter items! I love them! I can't wait to play with these! And I love that objects that should have a shine really do have a shine, like the green boots and the toaster. Kind of makes them, and the things around them, look more real somehow. I know you said that these were all decorative, but is it possible that the tea trolley could be movable, like from kitchen to lounge? Like a kind of "push here" thing? I'd love to be able to make the tea, place the tea things on it in the kitchen and wheel it into the living room for guests.
At the moment we are considering it as a table. It may be complex to get the trolley places without causing issues (especially if say, your house is very cluttered and doesn't have much space to circulate), so we aren't sure if we would be able to make it movable in the end!
wow, just amazing I love them all.
Looks great! Just a small advice, the slippers in the basket wouldn't keep their position like that. They should be placed the other way, they're upside down now.
Hi Edyta! It's noted!
This is AMAZING, and I love all the quirky duck stuff.
Also very pleased to see you recognising and highlighting the work of interns, lots of games would never do that!
What an amazing job Javi!!
Oh I LOVE the clutter. 😃 One thing I'd love to have on the game. Is an option to favorite furniture items, clutter, windows etc so you have like a quick access to make building faster. Even an option to group items together for different looks. If can add CC to it wouldbe so helpful! I use clutter on sims even with a mod it can be time consuming finding items
To add to that it would be nice to have some kind of sorting function within build/buy mode to help find items faster. One option could obviously be alphabetical, as well as items by rooms, but I was also thinking of sorting items by which would be more "commonly used" in a room. So for instance, for clutter items for a bathroom, toilet paper is probably going to be used the most, then probably towel racks, then maybe items like candles would be used the least. That way if you're trying to build a proper bathroom, you're not having to hunt down those items.
This looks so cute. Will the herbs have an interaction to use to cook ?
Amazing! It would be great if you could interact with some of the stuff, like hanging your favorite coat on the hanger or so and not just random clothing items the paras never actually wear.
This is (and looks) superb! Grandma has impeccable taste
I really didn't know I needed a duck pillow in my life, but now I can't live without it. Can't wait to build and put all this items around :3
I can't even express how much I LOVE this! For me, clutter is everything! It bring life into the home! Beautiful work!
I’m so excited for the duck/bird pillow! I saw it in a previous post and fell in love with it. Everything else is such a nice touch and has such a homely vibe and essence to it. It’s all so exciting to see being unveiled as work continues. I hope you all have a really great weekend! And good luck to Javi continuing with school! Super talented.
This is super awesome! Really turns the house from looking like a dollhouse to looking actually lived in! ☺️
stunning work as always! love the porcelaine material effect :) also I hope that a lot of this clutter will be interactible!
Really cute :)
It looks amazing! I love the goose pictures on the wall
