Censored Effect: Giving our Parafolks Some Privacy!

That would be cool if you add all the censor effects you show here in the game and make an option to let us choose the one we prefer !

I'm so glad the censorship bar got changed from pixelation to white pencil, definitly fits the art theme better!

No blur. It is no different than playing with real dolls. If suggested age is 12 or 13 most have played with Barbies and Kens by that age. Optional blur would be fantastic!

The white scribble!! I feel like this suits the art style of the game so much and differentiates it from what's already out there.

I love pixels since it blends in nicer, but i like the white effect, maybe it could be a bit smaller/softer/not as harsh white color(more off-whiteish)? Pixels or the white effect! or let us choose!! :D

I like the idea of having all of those shown as options for the censor bar, and being able to choose which is used in settings. My favorites are the black bar, the fire, and the red x

I wouldn't like the censoring be a cross or something. Thats so negativ and thinking of kids playing this, there should really be no shame or anything negative about having private parts.

neato! I really like the different censor effects as photo stickers but yea I can see it being weird on moving characters. Maybe a little bit of both as an alternate censor like some smudge or blur brush strokes? something similar to smudging colors in photoshop or painting idk

i personaly think, that the white scribbles go best with the art style, but the buttons are also kinda fun. i havent seen anything like that in games before XD

Personally I like either the censor bar or the red X or the white scribbles. If it becomes the pixelated one, it would be better if it was a tad smaller so the arms don't get pixelated as well.

I'd say I like the regular pixelated one. I feel like the others may stand out too much for my personal taste

I love the red x one, the scribbled crayon look blends in well with the game style in my opinion. Also I love the use of stickers to make some paras anonymous. I used to do that but with emojis back in high school when editing some photos on my phone

I've been thinking about it, and I think that since the arms are moving, regarding the pants and toilet use, that since the area will be obscured anyways, it really doesn't matter that the pants aren't coming down. For people upset about it, perhaps a scribble would be better, although I personally would prefer the blur (just a smaller square/circle so it only covers the area).

I'd honestly prefer any of the other options as long as it doesn't flicker. I can't stand the mosaic and would get rid of it as soon as possible, no matter, if the Paras underneath look like Barbie dolls lmao. Just do away tohose moving pixels, I can't stand it. 🙈

I like the fire emoji version 😊 it has more personnality than the blurry mosaic, in my opinion. Maybe it can be a blurry emoji, so that the image will not grab our attention ? (like a blurry cloud with a face, or something like that ?)

I think just needs to be smaller 🙂

How about using the pixelated type, but in a smaller more discrete square or circle? Just big enough to cover what needs to be covered, but not necessarily so much bigger than that? It seems now that the squares covers almost around one third of the body. Perhaps that isn't necessary? Just some thoughts. It will be great no matter what, I am sure!

I really like the idea of having emojis as censor bars, if you do end up going with the blur though I think maybe it would look a little better if it was slightly smaller, especially on Marvin it looks like it obscures his arms too much and I think it would be better focused on just the pelvic area.

Ogm I'm obsessed w this poor Marvin spinning around naked, poor Maggie suffering on the toliet, poor Sebastián flushing the toliet like that. you all really put these paras thru Situations 💀😂

I would really encourage you to reconsider the pants not going down. The animation is going to be censored, so it really doesn't need to be detailed. Using the toilet with pants on has always been sonething that stuck out for me when playing The Sims.

I personally like the chalky/crayon look of the X and the white bar the most! Though I also feel like it would be nice to skip the need for a mod and let folks switch to doll/no censor mode if they wanted to? It's not exactly "realistic", but I can see how some folks might find it less distracting. Unless it's a rating issue, in which case could there maybe be a dev-released mod/patch for folks who want it? Definitely seconding the "let folks choose their censoring" at least, that would still go a long way if folks don't get on with one particular style/find it takes away from the gameplay.

I’m kinda bummed that you are leaning more towards not animated or even having the pants disappear when they sit on the toilet, for me it brings me out of the storytelling :(

I like the red cross and the white square. Of course we haven't seen much of the UI but it matches the vibe of what we've seen of Paralives' visual identity as a game. I understand that can be considered intrusive but I personally would prefer something to be found that matches the art style, rather than big ugly pixels that stretch (might I add) a very big area around the Parafolk and distort, potentially, more than just one person. Sidenote : only in the life simulation community is "toilet interactions" a reveal ! XD

The red X is my favorite, there's just something so funny about it to me. Also, the classic generic black bar is pretty amusing too. Will we be able to select the censor effect from these options, or are you planning on selecting one to focus on for the game?

omg i love some of those alternatives. The scribble is the standout for sure imo, it looks as if that sections just been erased out of existance. Would be cool if there was an option in the settings to choose which censor you want!

I don't know if anyone mentioned this idea yet, but what about fluffy little clouds censoring the designated areas?

I think it'd be hilarious if it was a censor that made it look like faulty computer pixels!!! As if the Paras removed the ability to get that section of their bodies from being shown on your computer monitor.

Love the level of detail. Would love easy options on the extended settings but I think the white scribble really compliments the art style y’all are going for!

I think the circular censor could be a tiny bit smaller. So it's less intrusive. Also, will Para's open the toilet before they use it, in the future?

the genital censors are looking good but imo it's a shame about the breast censoring decision detailed earlier in the comments: will breastfeeding, should it exist in the game, also be censored as a result of this?

I hope there won't be an upper body censor by default, I don't like the automatic sexualisation of "female" breasts, and often in games it just goes over the character's face and it ruins bath moments! Edit: just saw Alex's answers above. Well, I hope everyone has nipples, and I won't use the censor :)

I actually think the white scribble is my favorite! It's simple but still unique.

I would personally just like normal naked bodies, hair and all. But I really like the white scribble and red cross. Really fits your style of the game.

Not the dolls that I make. My dolls are very detailed and realistic. I love and appreciate realism. And I don't like the censored effect. It would be great if you could add an option to turn it on and off without modders.

I love the black rectangle censor! (Or being able to choose it in game?) It leaves place to imagination, instead of kind of seeing that Maggie’s pants were still up, you know what I mean?

I really liked the white scribled censor bar, that one has my vote! But I think that any of those options would work, except the emoji one as I personally wouldn't like it without the option to switch to a different censor bar. I do think that having the emojis in photo mode is a good idea tho

How about a donkey head to cover naked buttocks? But seriously—I think a blur effect would work best for all private areas. Simple, not too distracting, and not silly (sorry—I’m not a fan of the emojis). Also, I love how Moustachio Para is creeping naked behind the window.

The white sketch and the red x are my favorite, but I also like that I can mod and create my own blur.

The options shown all draw your eye to the censored area, which seems weird? I'd love to see something more subtle and less distracting, maybe a simple blur.

Could we please make the censorship optional? I can understand that it will upset some people but I was brought up in a household where nudity is an accepted and natural thing not to be ashamed of.

If I were to pick one of the other censor images, the one that looks like a scratched white box looks like a good one. Although, a censor that changes based on the activity would be interesting too.. Like the fire one during steamy activities or a surprised emoji face when another folk walks in on a folk nude..

I actually really like some of the other censored effects. I think the flame could be great and unique. And about taking pants down while sitting on a toilet; one Sims 4 mod has this function in some way - the pants disappear once the sim sits on toilet and shows back after they stand up. I think that maybe this could be considered.

After talking on Discord with some people who similarly to me found the mosaic hard on the eyes and kinda headachy, we came up with blur as a cleaner way to give similar effect without sharpness and flickering of pixelated mosaic

I think the white scribble goes well with the art style. I agree with everyone who says that it would be preferable if the censor bar was smaller.

What if the blur was the default, but players could change it to something else in game settings? Like you could change it to the black bar, the Red Cross, or one of the funny stickers :D

I like the censor, but I think in Marvin's first gif it's too big. It hides too much of the parafolks bodies. Wouldn't be possible to make them smaller so the rest of their bodies wouldn't be so hide?

I personally feel like the black bar feels more distinct and more in line with the art style.

I like the mosaic and the black block versions. Others feel a little bit distracting. And also the cover area could be smaller? I can’t see the hand and forearm which really bother me.

We know so much that the first thing modders will do is create a complete body model and remove censorship, as in any self-respecting game xD

I like the pixel censors personally, as it feels less obstructive to the overall game play. Perhaps if the pixel box could be made smaller, it'd be more agreeable for people who think it's difficult to look at? The scribbles and Xs feel a bit distracting to me.

Should be able to put in your date of birth and then allow us to a) disable b) select a type of censor . Suggestion for pixelation would be randomized motion animated use of pixels rather than static and, also have a slider to choose size . The big circle seems way to large at present

thank you so much for sharing! i think both the pixel effect and the white scribble design look really cool. i might have asked this before, but i forget - will breasts/nipples be censored too? if so, how will you/the game decide when to censor them? (we can see marvin's chest in one of the examples of course) asking as a nonbinary player

Personally, I'd prefer something more original than the standard pixelated effect, but overall it's not a big deal. I do wonder why the backside is also censored? Is that a ratings thing or just easier technically? And since Marvin's chest isn't censored, would that also not happen with female paras (considering Charlie is base) or would it be different for female paras due to double standards for ratings?
