What We're Going To Do

How are you doing today? Everything’s good on our side. We’re working on a lot of exciting things that we’re looking forward to sharing with you. Meanwhile, this week, I thought I could give you an update on the next steps in the development of this “Paralives” game. This post is for Patrons only so don’t share it. Thank you!
The Next Two Months: Paramaker Progress
We’ve made good progress on the build mode and we showcased our tools back in June in this 11 minutes long house building video. We still have work to do on the build mode like full support for basements, roof tools and custom stairs. However, we will be resuming the work on that in a little while. Starting now and for the next two months, we will be focusing on the Paramaker and all the character customization tools. This will allow us to create and showcase more Parafolks. Here’s an overview of what we will be doing:
The Following Months: Live Mode Basics
After our boost on the Paramaker, we will seriously attack the live mode to get a first playable version where we’ll be able to have our Parafolks do various actions around the house. We will start by working on the following core features needed for that :
After these “boosts” on the Paramaker and the first version of the live mode, there will be more work done on every part of the game to add more features to the live mode, build mode and Paramaker.
Side note: we are 4 programmers on the team and we used to work on different things : Jérémie and Étienne on the build mode, Anna on the live mode basics and animation systems and me (Alex) on the Paramaker and mod tools. We’re changing this to instead work on one part of the game together at the same time. It will be the Paramaker for the next two months and then it will be the live mode basics. This way, we’re aiming to make faster progress on a specific part of the game instead of slower progress on multiple parts of the game at once. We’ll also be unblocking other team members like Léa, Sonia and Alice who need additional features to be able to create more clothes, accessories, hairstyles, animations, etc.

All news is good news, as far as Paralives goes. I'm so excited for this game, crazy excited for this game, did I mention I'm excited? Y'all are wonderful, and I love y'all. I am 100% a fan, been so since the first announcement.

It feels like a turning point for the development of the game : Paradevs have created solid enough foundations to the game that you can now focus on these next steps together. I can't wait to see it take shape :)

Comment: Would be interesting to have a Morning Hair, a Wet hair / A work Hair / and a lazy Hair setting, so as you do things and change scene your paras hair matches the scene - For me, I'm a male that has long dark hair, and when I'm working my hair is in a ponytail , yet if I'm listening to music, watching a film ill let it down , if I'm doing sports it's up again into a ponytail , yet after a shower its either/or, so people have different habits at different times of the day , doing different things, - such as at night I put the hairband on the side ; but during the day my hairband is around my wrist ... small things like that become important

Sounds awesome! Quick question, will there be an option to randomize separate items and not just the entire Para? Like for instance, when I’m in the hair category and don’t want to choose for myself, will there be a button to click to randomly choose a hair and subsequently for tops, bottoms, shoes etc.? I think this will also work well with the Paras’ ability to react to their outfits etc. Edited for extra question: Is it possible for randomizations to also pull a random color from the color wheel outside of preset swatches and can this be done with hair/eyes? (I do like playing with unnatural hair/eye colors and take too long making a decision for myself 😅).

I’m really pleased to hear you are going to make a big push on live mode before the year is over, because I haven’t seen as much progress as I expected on that in 2021, and I feel like it will be the most time-consuming to implement. I hope this new approach yields more results faster. I’m rooting for you, team!

This might be too difficult, but please consider it: a hair texture slider ranging from pin straight to afro textured. That way all hair textures will be represented for each hair style. I hope I'm explaining this clearly. I'll try to make an example: Pig tails for straight hair would look like long and sleek and pig tails for afro textured would look like either hair puffs or braided and long. Thoughts?
It may may sense to just make those hairstyles separately vs doing a slider. Each texture can still have pigtails, etc. but that way they’re each done justice.
Having a good fat and muscle customization is such a an awesome thing. Someone might just have strong arms or legs and a pudgy belly. Someone doesn't have to have fat or muscle in every place at the same time at the same amounts
