New Video: Holiday Outfits!
Hey everyone!
This is a public post to show you our brand new video about Maggie and her holiday outfits. The post is public so feel free to share! There will be another private post for Patrons only tomorrow.
Recently, we have improved Paralives’ clothing system to make it as customizable as possible while keeping it easy to use. Mix and match items to reveal your unique taste, select a design that best suits your personality and choose one of the premade swatches or a specific color using the color wheel. Get creative and impress everyone (or not) with your new outfit!

We want a more in depth relationship system, everything i am seeing everyone else writing makes so much sense. the one sided relationships are a must in my eyes, the memory system, the idea of likes, attractions, dislikes, career paths all having to do with relationships, also the fact that there can be a bunch of different outcomes making the game more playable and less boring because we can expect something different every time with more options. I am probably not making complete sense, but with actions, and conversation there should be a bunch of different outcomes. I also think as far as relationships dwindling goes, that it should be as in depth as possible and happen slowly. That goes back to the memory system we are all hoping for, and background stories. Say a Para has an enemy from high school because that was there bully, or having frenemies, parents getting divorced maybe the child chooses not to talk to one and picks a side for awhile, this is kind of off topic but for divorce i think being able to have the kid stay at different houses easily would make the game more realistic, mom has kids during the week, and dad has them during the weekends, we make an actual schedule, the dad actually comes to pick them up, to choose to go on family outings even when divorced. To have a relationship with said ex husband and wife that is either good or bad, or minimal. Maybe the kids hate their stepmom or step dad and theres a lot of actions for that, to complain to mom ect. I'm rambling I dont know theres so much I want for this game lol
but back to the divorced parents, setting a schedule for who gets the kids when, and being able to do this without having to remove kids from home and move them to the other, would be cool. Choosing who picks up who from school
Wow, everyone has so many good idceas on here that I really hope the team takes into consideration because by the looks of it we all basically agree!

I absolutely love everything about this (the animation, her knees??, everything), but may I just say how absolutely BEAUTIFUL the clothing looks?? It fits so well? It looks like real clothing and I LOVE it

Simply beautiful! I am amazed by the shadows of the snow falling, the warm holiday vibes, and mismatched socks! this is a legendary production, I am so proud and excited for Maggie's progression (the stance is more natural) a super round of applause for what team Para has achieved in such a short amount of time. thank you

Love how the socks are their own category! It looks amazong. Plus, the way Maggie moves her weight while looking at her outfit feels real!

Am I the only one who can't stop staring at her knees? Gorgeus improvements which stand out positively in the in-game environment. You've got the passion and the results represent it for real. Well done, the whole team! In addition, I'm really happy to hear your principle and focus will be layerability in clothing. Though being WIP and in the early progress, the PAM already shows its potential.

Okay. I am blown away. First off the animation is so fluid, I'm in love! The layering! The mismatched socks feature getting its time to shine. The shadows if the tree and the snowflakes. The lighting effecting Maggie. Oh, and Maggie! I was one of those people who felt a bit iffy on the character's original design. But I love everything about this. I love that her face is more well defined, love the hands, love the knees! And who could forget the feet, and her little toes! You guys seriously didn't miss a beat. And she feels like she actually fits into her environment now! There's this soft vibe that I'm really digging. It's all too clear that you're finding your look. And I think you're so close! I can't speak for everyone, but if you changed nothing else about the paras, I would still be a happy customer. It's a good blend of cartoony with hints of realism. ( I know lots of people want hyper realistic characters, but I really don't want to play with uncanny valley mannequins.)
I'm so loving Maggie!! Major improvements to her body shaping, facial features and her hair is lovely... she is evolving beautifully. Maggies smooth body movement from sitting to standing leaves me speechless and wanting to see more!! Now, turning to the clothing options which can be changed with such ease within game play, color wheels which will allow the limitless creation of styled looks unique to individual Paras, layering of clothing, oh my, my head is starting to spin!! And the exterior lighting creating such wonderful interior shadowing is so calming, and the small touches and attention to detail, I could go on and on... Thank you Alex and team for your dedicated hard work and talents in developing a game I'll continue to support and one I can't wait to play!! Merry Christmas to you all...you've just made mine a little brighter!!🎄😁🎄
Awesome! Custom coloring on the fly. Don't let up - make it feature rich, give us a lot of control over the simulation, and keep pushing to make it deep and complete! Don't be afraid to ask for feedback or learn from other games!
Looking good, Maggie ! I really appreciate the improvements you've been working on, particularly on her face. I'm all for knee details and everything, don't get me wrong, but it's definitely the face that in my opinion was going to make or break my affection for Paras, and we're really getting there. Though I also think her hairdo is better. One last thing : Maggie doesn't like her mismatched socks ?! Paras have different reactions to the clothes we give them ? That's pretty cool. I'm going to create a Para but I'm also going to have to learn about my Para's tastes ? That makes them feel very real (even though I imagine it's probably going to be conditioned by how I create them). I really like that and can't wait to see in what other ways it is expressed.
Oh and I also like how the animation to show her reaction to the sock only happened when you switched to another type of clothing. She didn't react to each sock combination, just the "final" one.
the parafolk are improved! am I the only one who didn’t recognize that this is Maggie? her face looks a lot different, I wish they kept her facial structure/look from before, but with the improved art style. Also I noticed that her expression is bland and almost like a mannequin, and her expression at 00:51 reminds me too much of Sims 4. I’m glad they removed the black outline from the environment, and I hope they have a toggle to remove it from the parafolk and anywhere else they put it. I love the animation fluidity, and the shadow of the snow in the window! I hope small details like the bows on the presents in the back are fixed.

I’m still not 100% keen on the outline but everything else looks absolutely stunning and I’m so impressed with how far everything’s progressed lately ❤️
I believe there was a post from earlier this year that said the para outline was optional? If so, it’ll help make them look more realistic and I think it’s a great option to have both available to us.

I Love the new graphics on Maggi. The animation is so smooth, the lighting, shadows, the layering system outfits customization, the sound effects when clicking is calming. I just love everything I can't stop loving this😍😍😍
Will there be a jacket section for cold weather? I'm kinda hoping jackets will be separate from shirts so that paras will just put on a coat to go outside rather than have a full outfit change if it's just chilly, if they need full snow gear that could be a sperate outfit.
Wow, it looks amazing! Every time it gets better and better! I love this so much that I don't mind if it'll release tomorrow and I'll just change socks all day, while you working on the other things..and I really love the clicking noise when you choose things, hope you'll keep it in the game! Kinda noticed Maggie is a bit cross-eyed... Is this in purpose? A Mistake? The angle? Something we'll be able to tweak? Can't wait for this game! Looks awesome, thank you so much for all of your hard work and considering our opinion it is not taken for granted!
I was concerned by the new skin texture at first, but now that I see it in game it looks great! Love the animations as well
Amazing,the progress is very noticeable.I love the way that the game looks. The only thing that I DO hope is in the final version is hair and clothes physics,it's reallyyyyy important imo.The trees,the grass,the clouds,the curtains are moving but the CORE of the game (the parafolks) are with hair and clothes that are stiff? I hope they will be able to implement that feature.
They do have clothing and hair physics but the code wasn’t fixed yet when they made this video.

Oh, I love it! It'd be great if we could choose their favorite style of clothing and according to this they would react negatively (gesturing) when we put the opposite style on them, or positively, if it matches their preferences.

What type of diversity ? They’ve only introduced two characters and one is a POC (Maggie) and Sebastian is gay (sexual diversity?)

Yup! All of clothing will be able to be used by any gender!

I was hesitant about the style change before but after seeing how its integrated here I like it a lot more!!!!! I want to see the other characters now even more. Seeing some of the animations is awesome as well! I cant wait to see what else there is!!!
I was slightly disappointed in the first para reveals, I still had my doubts after seeing Charlie, but seeing Maggie in game now <3 I'm absolutely loving it, and I'm so glad you guys took the time to improve on the paras. Also, I just can't get over the lighting in this clip, so gorgeous. Can't wait to see what you guys have for us tomorrow!

I was one of the people that had some critical things to say in the last art style post and I'm so happy the team pulled it off so beautifully when they integrated the model into the environment. I love the shading on Maggie's face, especially her nose, which sort of blended into the face in previous models when you looked at the character straight on. Now it really stands out! Also, it seems like, unlike the most recent videos before this one, you guys got rid of the outline around the objects in the environment? I'm curious if this was intentional or if that's how it gets rendered in dimmer lighting, but I really love it! For me, it's the best balance of using outlines to make things stand out while not making the scene overly 2D so far! Amazing work!
Thank you very much Michelle! There were some technical challenges to make the outline look good everywhere in the environment so we disabled it on objects. We're still playing with the idea and making different tests to polish the art style!
I am AWED by the animations!! Like, it looks so natural! the way she moves and the way you can see her her chesting moving from breathing. I loved it and it feels so in sync with the vibe of the whole game. Great job everyone!
Not going to lie I thought the character improvement would make me not like it as much. But it looks more proportionally realistic which I love.
I love how the sweater is tucked into the skirt and automatically! I also love that you can wear the pants and skirt at the same time. The new look is amazing!!!
WOW, I'm loving the development of Maggie +1 to fitting better into the environment. Did anyone notice her dislike in wearing odd socks. I hope to see more of that in gameplay, great animations.
Okay, this is excellent! Everyone's already mentioned all the amazing stuff from the animations to the improved model to the layering of clothes! All I can say is I love it, the art style is really looking great with the recent refinements. Also, whoever designed Maggie and put together that amazingly cute fit *chefs kiss* <3
I love the fact that you can wear mismatched socks! Will we be able to do the same with shoes for a scruffy look? Obviously, same-level shoes. And it shows that you kept working on Paras models - Maggie looks great!

The art style is looking amazing!!! ❤️ I adore the soft painterly qualities and the serene aesthetic that you guys are going with - it reminds me almost of classic Disney, especially Sleeping Beauty (my all-time favorite). On top of it all, the fashion is completely stunning!! Turtleneck + mini skirt + tall socks/tights is just... 😍😍😍 I can't wait to see more!

This is the best I’ve seen paras look! I was one of those not completely on board with the 2D cartoony style, but I can like this:) Maggie is beautiful! Also - the skirt and sweater is gorgeous!! I want them for myself lol
Holy sh-t, I love this! I was a tiny bit worried at the last art style update because I thought the face looked washed out, but it looks so much better in this video. And the smooth animations! The color wheel! The way Maggie keeps her gaze on the viewer! All the little details, like wrinkles in the clothes! The general ~vibe! <3 Great work!

Honestly this is great! I see a lot of people commenting on the art style and while I was on board regardless of it as it's only improved throughout development, I was taking more notice on the functionality. I'm very glad to see the color wheel implemented with the clothes to add some customization. One thing I'm wondering about is if we'll see custom fabric patterns like in The Sims 3. We did see a preview of it being done in Paralives with the counter tops and being able to change the texture of it, I want to be able to do that with clothes. The other thing I noticed and I was very happy about was the layering function for the bottoms. I love that and I hope this carries over to other articles of clothing like the tops and possibly even accessories. I think this functionality though will save a lot of headache for players as well as content creators to be able to make the perfect outfit. And the last thing, the socks. Love how you can mix-and-match the socks and you're not just stuck with a pair of them. The one thing I thought about that might be a nice improvement is having a height slider (or predetermined lengths) for the socks. The ones with the bows are super cute, but if the bottoms are just a little too long and clips over them, no one will be able to see how cute they are. This is actually a pretty common problem in games I play where the accessories can't be layered or they clip over each other and it can be quite frustrating when you're trying to make that perfect outfit. Just some suggestions and feedback, I know you guys have quite a bit on your plate so far, so do what you can, but you're doing phenomenal! Keep it up!
Not 100% certain but I do remember them mentioning in the past that we’d be able to upload our custom textures using their modding tool.

This looks great! I'm curious if it would be possible for certain top styles to have a toggle that allows you to set it to rest either on top of, or be tucked into, the bottoms. I think it's a good aspect for character creators, and would give players more outfit customization options! The style change is an improvement IMO and I really like the animations and UI for it all.
OMG, cutest "ugly" sweaters ever! I love her reaction when her outfit gets changed. You can see how she likes certain things, but not others. Her personality really shows through!

OMG!!! Maggie looks so good! I love how y’all managed to improve on the graphics of the paras but still stayed true to the aesthetic you’ve implemented! The clothes look so good and everything is sooo well made! Editing our paras as well as their outfits looks like it will be super easy and the UI looks so clean!
