Maggie Last Name Reveal + Potential Console Version Poll

I know I'm late to the party as I just joined but I wouldn't mind a Linux or a Chromebook.

Chiming in as another rare Linux gamer here, but unless you're doing something crazy (like invasive copy-protection), the Windows (or "PC") version will very likely "just work" through Steam's Proton. :)

I would play it on pc first and foremost then after maybe my switch. The ps5 I will eventually get is tempting just to have something to play on it

I'm a PC player but my PC is getting old(I'm hopefully going to be upgrading it soon) so after it has been better developed on PC, I think branching out to console (PS4/PS5 in my case) would be great.

I think you should only release on PC to start with. It's easier to maintain and develop one version of something, and you can port later after you've refined Paralives a bit more with less stress.

Aside from my previous comment I’d definitely want to play on the PC majority of time but would like to see a nintendo switch version as well, but it’d be nice to have the game optimized for a console controller on PC my fiancé likes using controllers but I have no problem using mouse/or either.

I believe there should be a Linux port once the PC/Mac versions are done. Not sure if the game will translate to consoles with controls and all but perhaps it could be for next gen as ports?

Thanks for asking! I’ll most likely will instal Paralives on my MacBook Air (2019). (It says ‘MaX’ in the poll?) Sims 4 runs fine on it. I can’t play my Sims 3 on it as one needs a beast of a pc to run TS3 and the mods from that other talented Canadian ;). So, I’m grateful that you guys are doing an effort to give a broad variety of Para-players the chance to play your game.

Like most I typically prefer PC for life-sim games. BUT, if you were to release Paralives on console as something similar to Sims 2 on PS2.... that’s a whole different story. Sims 4 feels very clunky on console. A simplified version where you can control characters via third-person rather than “god-mode” would be pretty cool, if it were to ever get to that point. (:

I think focusing on PC only would work best. If need be to port to a console I would say Switch cause games like Stardew Valley did well porting on there sales wise, and it’s a more family market oriented console that keeps expanding their indie market. If it’s a popular game you’ll likely get an offer from somewhere though.

i dont think sim-type games work for consoles. sims 4 was a failed one. if u do decide to, i hope u guys can find a way to make it work great <3

I pretty much only use Linux these days, so that's my obvious answer lol. That said, since Paralives will be on Steam, I expect that Linux users will most likely be fine running the game through Steam Proton. Not quite as good as having a native Linux version, but barring any obscure technical difficulties it shouldn't be impossible for us to play on Linux.

Definitely PC, but when it comes to console a switch version would be my first priority. As long as it doesn't get the censorship treatment like Sims 3 on DS where same-sex relationships have been removed.

I think if it ends up taking too much manpower and will equal less actual features in the game then don't worry about making it available on other platforms, everyone has a PC/Mac/Linux so focusing on that might be a better idea :)

Linux! Then i could finally get rid of my windows for good, only using it to play sims at the moment. Besides porting to Linux should not be that difficult, you might even get help from the community.

I'd ask for Linux support, but a painless Wine/Proton Stream install would be enough for me.

I have a question! Have you guys thought about having your Patreon members ( only If they want to) submit their name to be apart of the random name generator? A lot of us have some unique names that would be cool to add! Maybe it could be apart of the tier pledge to have your first name, last name or both added to the random generator list for naming parafolk.

I am all for Pc,However,the older I get,the worse my eyesight gets. So definitely would love Console version on down the line. So that way I can keep playing! 😊

I'm normally all for Switch ports, but the biggest reason I'm excited for this game is building and I think that would be infinitely easier with a mouse

The only other platform I play is VR... obviously too much to ask for it to be made 3D tho so I guess I just have to hope it becomes a "major platform" someday!

Im for both nintendo switch and Xbox series x console versions :) but voted for nintendo switch. Please do a nintendo switch version! They’re planning to a have a pro version/next generation console in a few years that can handle more demanding games and since there’s no sims for switch or any plans for it I think Paralives would be perfect fit for it plus we could play on the go.

I have a gaming laptop, will paralives work for laptops?

I feel like basing the game build in Linux might make it more stable and easy to maintain/repair even on PC and Mac, but that might just be me and my limited understanding of server architecture.

I think focusing on the PC/Mac version would be best for release. I think The Sims 4 made this mistake by not making the UI in the game for EITHER pc or console and the game is very clunky and boring. Maybe some cool console releases in the future though!

I only have Mac so I’m glad it will be available there!

I know this is not an option and I may not understand the possible limits but could Paralives ever be an iPad app? Seems crazy to ask but I recently subscribed to Apple Arcade and some of the games there truly seem as if they’d need a full set up to play and yet my iPad is fully capable. I don’t know, just a thought of mine I guess

I know the team might grow large enough to allow you to create console versions, but I honestly prefer if you focus on the PC/Mac for the first release. Then *maybe* a Switch port afterwards.

I love the Switch as much as the next person, but I suspect the game might be heavier than the graphics alone imply, and Switch is, ultimately, a mobile chipset with a fan strapped on it (the fan does make quite a bit of difference, admittedly).

I think at the moment a release for PC/Mac should be the main focus. Then maybe someday down the line (2-3 years) you guys can port the game to different consoles :-)

These kind of games truly only works best on pc, mac and linux. There's too much accuracy going on, in simulation games for them to be properly played on console.

I only have a PC and I'd really appreciate it if Paralives would not be exclusive to one specific launcher, though I understand you guys need to make a living.

I am a dedicated PC game player. I appreciate that some people aren't, and I support that. It would be nice for them to have access to this wonderful game in the future. But, selfish thought it may be, I wouldn't want that to affect the PC and Mac versions

Well, I'm a linux user and I'm able to play any game from my steam library. Proton do a great job. I think you guys shouldnt be worried about that and focus in a xbox or playstation version besides PC-WIN

PC is definitely first but Switch is a huge second! It would be cool if we could play the same saves universally through each console somehow. PC at home, switch on the move!

My main concern is that to avoid too much redesigning for other platforms, some features will be simplified or removed that might have worked beautifully on a well-endowed PC. The Sims already has dreadful textures so it can run ok on a cheap laptop. It would be nice to be able to choose a sims-like game that isn't deliberately tamed to run on potatoes.

One of my favorite things when I was little was sims Bustin out on gameboy Advance. I’d love to take Paralives with me on my switch!

I believe the iPhones and IPads Pro would easily be powerful enough to run the game. Plus you could play them with a controller if you want to make a console port anyway.

I'm a big console gamer... but although in the past I've played games like Paralives on them I much prefer on PC... if for no other reason than whilst PCs update, they are still essentially the same thing. I can still run Sims 1 for example on my new laptop even though it's over decades later. So for me consoles should be a cherry on top and not a focus on release. They're an ever changing world and not always backwards compatible (and not everyone keeps old consoles when they upgrade). So the lifeblood of this kind of game for longevity I believe focus should be on PC (and mac os).

Playstation and Switch would be nice eventually... especially Switch because I can take it on the go more easily, but Nintendo Switch isn't exactly a console, I'd imagine having a strong capability for a decent life simulation game... it would likely be a muddled down version. PS5 touts amazing graphics and capabilities, so it has promise!

Hey, what about Stadia? Would you considering expanding to it? I know Paralives should run on most PCs but it would be a way to make it also playable on tablet and mobile.

Mac, been playing that other simulation game on this for years and while I know it would run better on a PC, I've had no worries downloading mods for the game. When I played on PC there were virus' everywhere. Running the game on the Mac is slower but doesn't crash at all.

I totally don't want the team to be concerned about the console yet. From the market research, console games sale with this kind of life simulation is not worth your dedication and energy devotion yet. In the future, yes. But not now. The console players always voice their "desire" through social media but IT DOESN'T MEAN THEY WILL BUY THE GAME". And let alone modding. The console players always complain about "no mods" too. So, too may headaches.

Very click intensive games like this, especially when building and designing, for me are best played on a computer/ MAC with a mouse. I wouldn't have much interest in a controller console version -- never have really got into the Sims console games.

I never really get used to The Sims 4 on PS4 and I also hate that there is not CC support. So I prefer PC, but if there was easier controls on PS4 (or PS5) than it is now with The Sims 4, I would maybe go for it, becuase I could play game with best graphics
