Build Mode Stream + Playtests Recap + Bug Showcase
Good morning, Denis here with a little update on our latest playtests, our latest live stream (ft. Rina) and some bug highlights (brought to you by Charlotte) that we have encountered in the last few weeks. Without further ado, let’s get into it!
🔒At this point we’re just repeating ourselves, but as always, this is a Patrons only content, so please keep this private!
🔨Rewatch: Build Mode Stream
Hiiiya it’s Rina! In case you missed it, we did a build mode challenge stream on Discord this past Tuesday where I left the house’s dimensions up to fate using dice and a spinner wheel! The end result was quite…chaotic 🤣
⬆️Check it out by watching video above and let us know what you think!!
🕔 March Playtest and Priorities
Our latest external playtest has made it quite obvious that while the game has considerably slimmed down on gameplay issues, we do need to invest considerable time working on game performance and optimization. And that is good, because that’s exactly what our production calendar had planned for most of April! While I cannot promise smooth 4K 60fps at all times for the initial release, we’ll be doing our best to make this as consistent as humanly possible.
Our optimization tests are not always good.
🤸 Animation Hiccups With Our Anchor System
On another note, playtesters have also been pretty vocal on the issues we’ve been having with some animations not playing properly, often getting tangled up with the way we anchor our characters when they sit down or interact with each other. Prioritizing glaring visual issues versus technical issues is a delicate balancing act considering the release is less than two months away. This is something we’re actively working on as we know that while they may not technically impact gameplay, visual issues can take a player completely out of the game and ruin the experience.
Toddlers do not cooperate, ever.
As you can probably see here, we still have some things to fix, and by things, I do mean anything that involves toddlers. Please just work with us small children. Please.
🐈 Cat Tax
And that’s a wrap on my part!
I missed the cat tax on my first post so I shall pay on my second and final one, here’s little Princess Daisy, doing her best. I’ll be handing the mic (keyboard) over to Charlotte.
6 Pounds of drool.
Bug Showcase
Hey everyone! Charlotte here with a little round of bugs. 🐛
When you want to do a toddler interaction so badly your teeth pop out of your face.
Uh… having a bit of trouble with the stairs there?
This is fine!
That’s all from me today! I’m curious to see what bugs you guys will find while playing the game once it comes out, and we will definitely be fixing as many as possible before the release! 🐛 ✨
Anyways, hope you all enjoyed this Patreon post, that’ll be all from us today. :- )
Cheers,
Rina, Denis & Charlotte

Will there be a strollers added in an update perhaps for newborns and toddlers
Hi, my question is will the members of this community be receiving any discounts on the purchase of Paralives. Thank you 😊 and I am so excited for the release.
Even prisons are suppose to have windows
So excited for this! It's looking amazing. I was just thinking during the stream that it might be useful to add a little icon to the objects that are resizable? I heard Rina question whether some objects were resizable and then only confirm it once it was placed. Just to remove a bit of unnecessary trial and error. :)
Woah cabinets are resizable too. Is anything in this game not resizable. 😆
Girl why not put the fridge next to the stove and put the table in the corner why why why😭
It's a pity that the windows are green. I hope it will be changed one day
Finally had time to sit down and watch the build mode stream and let me tell you: WOW. Honestly, most advanced build mode I've seen in any sims game (and I've played them all) - its so user friendly BUT also so advanced at the same time. The amount of little details and features that I didn't know I needed but now I know I wont be able to live without. Really, really impressive. And also, gotta say the music is spot on - so relaxing, I can see myself getting totally lost for hours.
The build mode is incredible; the city and atmosphere the game brings is really cool, it has its own identity. But I believe we've already seen a lot of the build mode and the customize mode. I'd like to see more family gameplay, which hasn't been shown yet. It's so close to release that I know it will be amazing. The team is making a very beautiful game, and you can see it has soul.
this build was a MESS. i love it.
The building is so satisfying! I love how the tools sound. I usually hate building in games (since I'm not really good at it lol), but this looks like a lot of fun.
Hello, was just wondering about genetics. I saw that with hair, curly was dominant, with straight being at the other end of the scale. I personally like straight hair, so will there be a way for us to access these settings? I would rather have strait be dominant in my settings.
Now to ask The Sims its impossible to NOT have bushes and trees going through the walls if you put them close to the a house, where part of it goes into the wall, but here we have it, I was expected the bushes and the tree, which has parts going into the wall, to be sticking out inside the house, but nope, its like those parts just get cut off, instead of going straight through. So it can be done, EA/Maxis/The Sims, just didn't try, and its been a thing since The Sims 1. I have a Sim which has been my favorite to play with in TS4 since I think it was 2015, her name is Nikki Cat, she's a cat alien or an alien cat person, not a Maxis alien mind you, since they're too limited, but she is more human looking, except for pointed ears and teeth, oh and claws. And anyway she is a cheerful, childish, also a bit of a glutton, and she LOVES PINK, or at least purple, so I will definitely need to be able to turn anything I want pink, yes including the toilet paper. I have always wanted to have her with pink toilet paper, so I hope maybe we will be eventually allowed to color the toilet paper. I was hoping in fact that we could recolor everything or at least all normal objects and clothes, obviously I don't mean the trees, grass and other plants, just man made objects. Also wont we have a money cheat in the game? I prefer to be able to have a lot of cheats for money, skills and say relationships, it makes it easier to playout stories, we might have, without limitations. I always use a lot of cheats, just to start things out, with some skills, and have enough money for a certain story idea. One of the things I do love about all those who have been in the videos for the game, is you all seem so down to earth and it doesn't come across like everything has been rehearsed, planned out, like with The Sims game play for new packs, they just seem to so fake at times to me. Rina especially is just like one of us, playing the game, even though she obviously knows more about how to play it then we do, of course, but she still is just a funny and down to earth person, not all flashy or not faking being down to earth like many at Maxis does in their videos!
The build mode and Paramaker are perfect, and I’m really curious about public buildings in the city — you’re so good at designing them! I know there will be rabbit holes during early access, but I hope we’ll also be able to build more specific types of buildings, like offices, police stations, hospitals, churches, fast food restaurants, malls, theatres, etc. I understand that designing interiors for these buildings in a way that works well with gameplay must be very complex. But maybe it could work similarly to games like Theme Hospital, where certain required objects need to be placed for the building to function properly, and Parafolks would then interact with those objects. These might seem like small (and possibly demanding) details, but they’re exactly what bring gameplay to life, watching our characters in interesting places.
What your describing is also what Maxis does in The Sims 4, where you HAVE to have certain objects in a certain style of public building, even if it in real life wouldn't be needed. I actually don't care for that, like to build a recreation center, you HAVE to have a tv, which a real recreation place doesn't tend to have, since the places are usually about games or maybe learning things, I wanted to just have a place where Sims could go to practice painting, woodworking, maybe have a basketball hoop, I also had a play area for the kids, but then the game said I needed a tv, I didn't want a tv, because I didn't wont Sims to just come there and stand around watching tv, which is what Sims do whenever a tv is around. Same with gyms needing music, and then we have Sims standing around dancing, in the gym, or bars also with a tv, and people standing around watching tv. I wish people would keep trying to turn Paralives into The Sims, I don't want it to have practically everything The Sims 4 has. People are complaining about TS4, so why are you trying to make Paralives be like TS4?
It looked like the platform with the bed was two notches high, and Rina mentioned that she'd need to add stairs if she wanted Paras to be able to use the bed. If the platform was only one notch high, would Paras still need stairs to reach the bed?
one of the ideas i have for a house is actually barbie dollhouse, so that bathroom really gave me so many ideas. i want the front of the house to be closed off and the back to have no walls so i can look inside the house at all times, i can’t wait to build 😭
This build is certainly...unique
Most of her builds are. I don’t think she’s a builder or a lifesim player, in general.
I got so excited when I saw the shih tzu art I squeezed my real life shih tzu haha! I showed him the screen and I’d say he agrees with the resemblance
I wanted a supermarket, hospital, veterinary clinic, restaurant, and shopping mall
Nossa seria incrível.🩷
Man how much longer until this come out? I wanna build so bad.
Per Steam, ETA is 5/25/2026
Thank you for this post and the very interesting Build Mode Stream. If you plan to do any more build mode streams before EA I'd appreciate if the last minutes showcased a little gameplay so we see if the placed objects can be used (i.e. the living room or when the kitchen table was pretty much blocking the entrance to the kitchen). About the roofs: can you diagonally change the size of a diagonal roof? (Hope you understand what I mean...) Also one thing I'm curious about is if you can place a room somewhere else? (E.g you finished a room and want to place it somewhere else). It is possible in the Sims 4 so i was just wondering (if it's not happening before/during/after ea that's fine to). Generally the stream was very funny and I liked the challenge. Looking forward to the next posts and or Lifestreams before ea. For the bugs and glitches thanks for being so open about them I feel a lot of game developers dont really mention them. As for the toddlerd you could argue that it would add some realisms 😂 and it's nothings we didn't have to deal with playing games from big companies which are also sometimes heavy on bugs and glitches (also pretty diabolical not fixed) I'm pretty sure I've mentioned it before but as long as the game is playable (like doesn't crash or gets stuck every minute) a few bugs won't be the end of the world. And I'm also pretty sure there will be people out there arguing about early access and what to expect which will be a never ending discussion. Have a lovely weekend ☀️

It would be awesome if you could make a family gameplay stream before release!
I’m hoping they show off some of family gameplay doesn’t have to be everything that’s the fun part so It’s fine if they don’t have all these to do, I’d just want to see how they react to certain things
Can’t wait to play myself! I would also like more thoughtful building & gameplay… but overall good video.
Can't wait to put the leave rug in all my para's homes!
Oh hey, that's my guy you set on fire. Thanks?
I love that we can place objects inside objects/stacked on top without cheats or error messages (i.e., the soap inside the tub). The freedom the team is giving us is amazing! I love all of the build/buy items as well.
I'm so excited to try building for myself!!! It looks great!
Hi guys! The game is looking so amazing and I cant wait to play NEXT MONTH! Thats insane! Anyways, have you ever considered a build stream with one of the expert builders who made the premade lots that ship with the game as the driver? It would be cool to see a full house built with all of the cool tools that come with the game. I feel like many of the past few builds have been quirky or basic (no shade Rina! You rock!) But we can see so many complex buildings in the world and I think the community (especially public) would really like to see a little cottage or small home built using the trims, roofing tools, resizing, kitchen cabinets, etc...by a pro that worked on those tools.
I agree.
So excited to get my hands on this game so I can build cute little cottages! I’ll admit I am still not vibing with the lack of natural interior light & opaque windows — I remember back when Maggie’s loft was revealed there was some beautiful soft lighting through the windows and I miss that! But maybe something I’ll just get used to with time :)
Why are the kitchen lamp fixtures casting shadows on the floor when they are above the light bulbs?
Yeah they need to figure out ceilings asap I’ve noticed that issue in every video
Can NOT wait to build in Paralives! Expandable cabinets. What?!?
Oh so very adorable!!! 💕💕💕💕💕
why are the windows green?
It's better for optimization. That way, they can avoid rendering what's inside.
Don’t worry, my toddler doesn’t cooperate always in real life neither 😀
I love build challenges like these 💀 It's giving Lil Simsie vibes (and we all know she's on this Patreon foaming at the mouth waiting for the release herself 😁). 10 minute build challenge next? 😂
Can't wait to play it will not work well on my current laptop but I'm buying a new laptop in September is a Asus Nitro v16 5070, so can't wait to play it
Really nice to see all the tools, I noticed that enlarging objects doesn't cost extra paradimes, but I mean the game looks great, I really can't wait to buy it. Well done guys!
i wish see more gameplay after u build some questionable builds at least to see that Parafolk can go pass kitchen ;)
That's what I'd like to see in every livestream in the future. For a Build Mode livestream, a subsequent playtest of maybe 15 minutes would be great, so we can see how much space a Para actually needs, that everything works, and so we get a better impression of everything etc. For a Paramaker livestream, I'd like to see what the creation looks like in-game. Unfortunately, with Inzoi, it looks different in-game than in PAM (or CAZ, as it's called in Inzoi).
I had a really bad day until now, then I saw this post and this made my day! Absolutely love what you guys have done with the game, and it’s coming together so beautifully I was moved to tears! Thanks for making such a wonderful game and for making my day! The livestream was very funny to watch and so were the bugs haha! Also the kitty is so adorable aaah 💖
I love the tiles for the bathroom. I should use them in my paras' house. So that's why we haven’t seen any toddlers.
Glad you like the look! And yes, while ee've been hard at work making them more stable, their unreliability is certainly part of why they haven't been featured heavily in content so far.
Thanks for this new post, Denis, Rina and Charlotte ! As always I missed the livestream (damn you, timezones ! *shakes fist* ), so thanks for the VOD :) Now I just hope Rina's IRL home doesn't have long hallways for some reason... I would have loved a precise breakdown of each category and subcategory of the Build Mode menu, but that's the wiki talking haha I understand that this would not have made for a very interesting livestream XD It's very interesting how Rina is actually someone who does minimal customization most of the time ; her instinct is to pick an object, and just place the item as is. Changing the color preset sometimes, but often not even looking at color variations, resizing only when "forced" to... we have very different building styles ! I customize *everythinguh*. Quick question : can we toggle the keys in the bottom right corner of the screen, after a while ? It feels like in the long run we won't need these tips as much. "Our latest external playtest has made it quite obvious that while the game has considerably slimmed down on gameplay issues [...]" Yaaaaaaay ! But also expected considering it was the big undertaking of the delay. It's nice to know the playtesters confirmed the effort was fruitful. "[...] we do need to invest considerable time working on game performance and optimization. And that is good, because that’s exactly what our production calendar had planned for most of April!" Well, yeah, but also this is a neverending task (particularly for a game in Early Access) so I was never worried. "while they may not technically impact gameplay, visual issues can take a player completely out of the game and ruin the experience" That's very true but at the same time, I don't know, it probably depends on the player, and on the game ! I play games where clipping for instance is just a fact of life and doesn't ruin immersion at all. In Project Zomboid, a game that prides itself on a certain form of realism (...well, you know, aside from the zombies), characters clip into furniture all the time (I walk INSIDE tables at least 10 times an hour at this point !), but that's not really immersion-breaking, rather it's merely "PZ physics". It's just that the devs at some point decided whether it was a good use of their time to add a ton of protections against clipping, and players just collectively decided that it's fine as long as you don't get your butt stuck when a horde comes your way. Obviously Paralives doesn't have the incentive of survival (that I know of !) to "justify" taking some liberties with physics, and the issues with anchors go beyond "simple" clipping and collision, but yeah. There's clearly a middle ground there. "Toddlers do not cooperate, ever." I dread the kind of non-cooperation that happens if there's a bug AND a tantrum at the same time XD Needless to say, that explains the lack of toddlers in gameplay videos. Hopefully it'll be fixed in time for the next stream...
I remember back a few years ago, a video of lots being mapped out with all different sizes and shapes. Will we still be able to do that, or are all the lots going to be already placed? I want to be able to place my own, like the old video from a few years ago.
This won't be available as part of normal gameplay upon release (but will be if using cheats, although I wouldn't guarantee its stability on release), that being said this feature will be part of the Town Editing tools in the future.
oooo kitty! she's so cuteeee <3 my favourite part of this build is def the abstraction hallway lmao
Haha always love the bug showcases! I think they show evidence of things really being worked on which is nice
They are! And they're also just really entertaining at times. (other times not so much)
So incredibly excited for this! 🥰
For a second I read "march playtest" as "merch playtest" and despite that making zero sense I was a little excited lol On a serious note I would love to see some merch for paralives at some point! I think there's some great potential and I would 100% buy some lol but before that I need to play the game dhdvdgeg I am getting so excited now not gonna lie! I showed my sister some posts the other day because she also like life sims but more casually so she doesn't keep up with new games and she really liked the life mode stuff so far so I hope I can gift the game to her a little later in the early access period c:
We're highly focused on getting the game out first! But once that's done a world of possibilities opens up!
The bug where the adult interacts like a toddler made me think about the "childish" trait in The Sims hahaha
Not a feature yet, still very much a bug!
I never manage to be there when you guys stream. I'm so glad you post them here! 🙏
Same!!
