Showcasing the Mountain and a Peek at the Countryside ⛰️🐄
Hello everyone! Chloe here to bring you today’s Patreon post!
Progress on the town is going well, and we have pretty much settled on the layout of everything. All that’s left is to finish the lots, polish the town itself, and add fun stuff for players to do or find in the town. I’d say the hardest part is done! Today, I will be showing you the mountain and countryside areas.
Aaah, the mountains, where the air is fresh, and nature bountiful! The town centre and the mountain are separated by a large chasm, which you can also explore via some hiking trails.
A long road borders most of the chasm, connecting the lots on the mountainside and the countryside, and a trail passes through the gorge underneath the two bridges.
There are 3 main trails climbing the mountain, one of which is accessible at the end of the paved road. Lots of winding paths here!
The park you may have spotted at the beginning of our trailer got a little upgrade! Two hiking paths start from it, and they are steep climbs! This park is the perfect place to prepare. Not only is it larger, it also has added facilities, like bathrooms! A bathroom break before a big hike is necessary.
At the top of the mountain, a little rest stop awaits. At the highest point in the city and endowed with binoculars, it is the best spot to enjoy the nice sight of the sea and the city below while enjoying a little coffee. Mmm, I wonder what the platform at the edge is for..?
At the bottom of the mountain, you will also find a vacant lot, ripe for the taking! We picked out this lot because of its prime location in the mountains, yet not too far from the town center. Perfect for a DIYer. The opportunity of a lifetime! You do not want to miss this.
Now, for a small peek at the countryside. Lots are big there, and offer a lot of building space. An old friend from some years ago can be found, and could be your neighbor! It has gone through some changes, but we kept them to a minimum; we just wanted the house to fit more with its new environment, for instance.

Details are looking amazing the feel and the looks are giving me so many vibes, the only thing that I don't particularly like is the ground texture in the woods, especially in the picture with the resort at the top of a mountain where that texture meets grass and stone
funny how that works, i love the ground texture but not the biggest fan of how the stone texture looks
I'm already picturing my paras horse riding here.. I'm really really happy to see a town that has lots of nature to explore.
Beautiful pics thanks for this. One thing that I noticed in beautiful pictures #5 and #8 was the ledge at the end of the hilltop rest area. When looking at pic #8 the "look out ledge's [roof]" looks different or more 2D then I think it should ? I know it's most likely part of the development but one thing I really enjoy is taking pictures of my lots from far away so I notice tiny details like that haha.
I love this so much!! It kinda reminds me the countryside in Portugal (Alentejo) during spring time! I think that it would be so fun if there were random fences in the world, near the road. I'm curious tho to see what kinds of wild animals you would add! I think you've mentioned before that you would like to add that, but I haven't seen any further updates. Is it still/is it going to happen eventually (maybe after EA)? Congrats, team!! I couldn't be ore excited for December «3.
I LOVE that there are hiking trails in this game!! So excited to explore those. The world looks beautiful, by the way! I'm hoping that that hidden gully is some kind of excavation pit -- a chance to engage in some archeology, paleontology, or cave exploration, perhaps...??
SO gorgeous!! I just noticed that one of the train tunnel entrances lead directly underneath a house,, and I’m not sure if this happens irl but I feel like that could be disruptive? idk
Are there actually animals in the world/in the individual areas, or will they be added gradually in the future? For example, cows in rural areas or butterflies, rabbits, hedgehogs, etc. in the normal cities.
I have been lurking in the background, watching and patiently waiting, and i am glad it all paid off and early access is coming. I want to warn the fans here and the developers, you have no idea the tidal wave/monsoon/devastating response that will be incoming from fans of other life sims games. Prepare yourselves for the avalanche of hate and troll bile that will come. I'm telling you this because i want you to ride it out, don't panic or try to make quick fixes to placate them. NO, stand your ground, remain in your integrity of a small independent game studio. it's going to be rough, you might need to disable comments for a time, and filter messages through a dump email so you don't have to see it. The active fans here who are filled with love and praise for this treasure of a game are going to say "It won't be like that! Stop being so negative!" I have been a fan of these games since 1999, and so many gave up when the fanbase turned into a flamebase. Don't give up, stay strong, don't placate the masses with more hairs, more chairs, more worlds; don't do what inzoi is doing right now and failing at. Stay strong, stick to your plans of updates and DLC. We honestly can wait. i love you Paralives, I love everything about this game.

Wonderful!! I love this so much thank you guys for all your hard work. Cannot wait to play this game ❤️ I really love the countryside though I am wondering if there will be different towns and cities? Maybe one city with skyscrapers and apartments?
We don't know our future plans regarding other cities and/or the expansion of this current one! This will probably be dwelved into as we enter Early Access :)
This makes me wonder if there might be any sort of variance in lot price depending on nearness to the city 🤔 Looks so good!

That first screenshot looks sooo beautiful, the environment graphics are really coming together beautifully. You can practically feel the breeze and smell the grass! It all looks so realistic rather than artificial as is often the case with video game maps. Its like you took a real location and rebuilt it in the game! Makes me want to live in this town for real
wait a minute, wait a minute, don't tell me that platform at the rest stop is for zip lining...like, yes, it could be for pictures, but there's no fence...I'ma go cry tears of joy, I'll brb, let me calm down 🥹💞 This gorgeous town looks like a dream come true. This coming from a multi-decade life simulation game lover. We're in the "Embers" guys, only a few more months 😭🌇

Is the neighbor Maggie? Since she was the one we met so long ago, well the first Parafolk we met! I noticed there is something pixelated in the background on the upper left side of the photo with the yellow house, so I figure it might be Maggie's loft! But I guess it could be Sabastian too, but he has his son, so that's more then one neighbor! And will be have a castile nearby to explore? I do like that there are trails for our Para's to walk, hope they actually walk the trail, unless directed to go off the trail. Obviously I want to have my Para walk around off the trail too, since its more realistic!
Can we drive?
Cars are only planned to be released during Early Access, so for the time being, no!

I'm excited at the possibilities to do generational/historical play! The rural area and old town will be so helpful. One question I have is: will it be possible to ban some townies from some areas or whitelist others? E.g., will be possible to prevent some of the immersion breaking things in Sims 4 (like Nancy Landgraab appearing everywhere). And for a historical save, it would be nice to have a white list of Paras we've updated in historical dress to be allowed, etc. (And not a priority, of course! And perhaps something for modders.)
It is not currently planned!
Also, while I know cats, dogs, and horses(!) will be in the official launch(not early access), seeing this video makes me look forward to walking a trail with a dog and leading/riding a horse in the valley. Oh! and if we can put a cat in a catpack.... OMG that would be amazing. Not a priority of course and perhaps modders will find a way if not included officially.

There are so many details in this post! The wells, the blue house, the realistic mountain stop! AND THE CASTLE, it looks amazing!
I just noticed that on the second picture, the trees are sideways!! Is that a thing in real life? Sorry if this is stupid lol
Lots of plants, even trees, will continue to grow after being disturbed by an event like a landslide if they survive, however they do usually start to curve back upwards towards the light (There's a really cool mechanism with how the cells that divide for the stems of plants react to changes in light direction, allowing the plant to curve). Given the darker dirt there, I think that's what they are trying to represent.
The world looks so organic! I love the way you naturally separated areas but they still look like the same place. I think I’m most excited to hear the audible differences in the ambient soundscapes - escaping the busier city to the quiet mountain forest will feel so immersive.
will maggies loft still be part of the town?
Yes! We are currently working on the different lots in town, including the houses of Townies we have seen in the past :)

Hi Chloe! Thanks for the wonderful post. It's always a real treat to see more of the world. And I love all the little details and the fact it looks far more rural than the rest but still has lots and properties out there. ❤️ I could imagine some really love farm lands out there and farm houses. I can also picture my Paras going on nice walks on the hiking trails.
Very Pretty! Can't wait! December Three months + 3 days away. I glad I invest This Patron over the years. I wanted a True Sims game Again! I remember when you showed the Tech Previews of those Bugs now most of them are gone! Now we have a large play area! If this was a Kickstarter Project I would Back the game in a Heart Beat! Being on Steam in December is just fine.

Gosh I’m so impressed at how beautiful and distinct this town is looking! You guys are brilliant for adding so many terrain levels, bridges, mountains. Honestly so impressed and in love with this town 😍 Is there gonna be any other water element other than the sea and beach? Like some canals or maybe waterfall running trough those mountain and chasm tracks? That would be glorious! I also have another question, when you reference the town centre and the mountain are separated by the large chasm - what will be considered the town center? Is it in the old town or industrial part? The town updates are my favorite to read at this stage, I simply can’t wait!! ❤️ But need to admit that I’m now dying to get to know some more official townies, wouldn’t mind an introduction to who’s moving to some of those beautiful houses 😍
The town center is the little town plaza we have showcased before, along with the castle :)

Is hiking and activity paras can actually do? Or is it mostly for scenery and they just walk like they normally would? What a pretty landscape
they will walk like they normally do, it is not per se an activity; we do plan on having little surprises in the mountain to favor exploration though! :)

I'm not crying, you're crying. Fantastic job, Chloe. I was not prepared for how emotional I would feel seeing these beautiful sights... It's like the Toronto Don Valley (before it, you know, became a highway) mixed with French or Quebec small town vibes. And I cannot wait for my scrappy DYI Para to hand-build their tiny home on the bottom of the mountain!
I agree! When I lived in TO, I used to pause and admire the valley whenever I was on the Bloor line passing over it.

Looks great! The verticality of the world makes it feel really distinct. The sideways trees in the second image look weird, though. Might need a different set of assets to make it look natural. That platform has to be reserved for the return of the zip line from all those years ago!
Some curved trunks would probably be the best option there. We had a tree fall over on relatively level ground and grow like that, so it's not like they'd need to be limited to vertical planting situations. Barring that, something with a shorter trunk like a bush would get a similar effect without looking odd.
I wanna guess platform is for the zip line! I’ve been quiet recently but absolutely loving all of the posts these last few months, and I think we’ve all been anticipating the countryside! It’s looking beautiful so far and I’m already very intrigued at what it’ll be like to explore, and what ✨ secrets ✨ we may find! Keep up the amazing work team!

I cant wait till I can get my hands on this and can start exploring the world. Only thing Im bit worried about is that there seems to be lack of empty lots to build ourself but that could just be you not showing them since they're really not that interesting part but otherwise this looks SO good

Hi! We do not plan on changing the skybox to a realistic one, since it would clash with the more stylised look of the game! We chose this current one because it works with the ghibli-like clouds and vibes, and also it changes depending on the time of day! :) hope it clears that up

I didn't cry during the video...but your comment is making me tear up. It's been a long road (100% understandable as game dev takes time) and seeing LBY get cancelled...I'm so, so, so thankful Paralives is producing this game themselves and not relying on shareholders/etc. It's worth the wait. :)
