Sewers of Paris: We Went Through the Ringer (Ep 568 - murder mysteries/Caleb)
My guest this week on The Sewers of Paris is Caleb Roehrig, author of young adult mysteries and the occasional romance. Caleb had always wanted to be an author, but life intervened and he found himself living in LA, working as a producer on reality TV shows. He didn’t realize it at the time, but that work was a training ground for storytelling. Though he still might not have figured it out until an economic crisis forced him to try something new.
Also, just a reminder that The Sewers of Paris will take a pause for the month of May — but you can come see me live, because I’ll be on a book and speaking tour all month long. Come see me in Stockholm; Vienna; Utrecht; and Heidelberg, Germany. Details and dates here!

Well, right away I could relate after hearing of Caleb's affection for Sue Grafton's alphabet murder mysteries! It was a fun series of books to read, and I always thought there was never any intention to write a "Z" book once Grafton found out she was dying. It's just the greatest way to create a mysterious aura! As Matt says "tantalizing!" Also, it was stipulated that her books would never be made into movies or TV shows. If I remember correctly, she had worked as a screen writer and did not like how books were changed when made into screenplays.
