Bonus! An actor's first gay kiss

You might know Dante Basco as Prince Zuko from Avatar, or as Jake Long, or as Rufio from Hook. But back in the 90s, he was a break-dancer and he played a gay wrestler in But I'm a Cheerleader -- though the director was worried that he wouldn't manage to pull off the required gay kiss. Not only did he prove her wrong, it turned out to be a learning experience for everyone.

I've got the story in this week's bonus video, plus the story of the Chiquita Banana's terrible musical lies.

I know this isn’t the main point, but you just blew my mind about Bananas. I just thought you were never supposed to refrigerate them. Ever.

Thank you for putting “But I’m a Cheerleader” on my radar! I’ve somehow missed it until now? Probably because I was in the situation that Megan was at the beginning of the movie, shall we say, when it came out. I’ve watched it four times since then, each one healing my ex-Evangelical queer little heart each time. So many lines just hitting me hard. Many laughs and smiles too. Healing tears.

“It wouldn’t be the worst thing United Fruit has done.” Understatement! Also Dante hosts the Avatar/Korra recap podcast “Braving the Elements” alongside Janet Varney. I’m a fan.
