Patreon iOS / Apple device charge updates (for new sign ups after Nov 1st 2024)

So, this post will have a lot of detail, please read thoroughly IF YOU PLAN TO SIGN UP TO PATREON VIA THE APPLE APP STORE OR VIA YOUR iOS ACCOUNT. This info will not affect users on any other platform, or existing users who signed up prior to November 1st 2024.

After November 1st 2024 Apple is forcing all apps to pay a 30% fee if payment is taken through the iOS patreon app or through Apple account payment. So if you sign up to patreon through iOS you will incur an additional 30% fee. To avoid this fee simply sign up on any other device and process payments through any method other than your iOS / Apple account. The iOS fee will not affect any users who sign up through patreon on a web browser, android, or any other means that is not made by Apple. This fee change will also not affect existing iOS / Apple users who signed up before November 1st 2024, though it may affect you if you change your iOS payments in the future. Short version, don't sign up on an apple device and don't pay through your Apple account and you won't have to deal with an additional 30% fee.

Sorry for the hassle, I know its lame, but it wasn't my idea.
