Painting Contest: April Monthly Round Winners!

Hi everyone:

During April, we had a double dose of the Painting Contest: the April Monthly Round and the First Quarter Final. And we loved all your entries!

In this post, we will announce the Monthly Round winners, and in another post, we will announce the Quarter Final winners and who already got a spot in the 2025 Grand Final.

So, the April Round winners have been decided. The six winners are the first to qualify for the Second Quarter Final, which will take place in July. Beyond what they will achieve in the Quarter Final, they have already won fantastic prizes from our great contest sponsors: AMERALABS and THE ARMY PAINTER.

Finally, just a reminder that the May round of the Painting Contest has already started. Along with the prizes, winners will qualify for the Second Quarter Final. If you have any doubts, you can check the contest's Rules & Guidelines or ask us directly.

With no more delay, here are the winners in each category for the April Round:

For the Monthly category, where, as you know, only painted minis from our March releases can participate, we are happy to announce that the winners of the Monthly Category for the April Round are:

  • 1st place: The Goblin Painter Miniatures for their painting work on Nullborn Prophetess.

Τhis paintwork of the divine prophetess manifests the exceptional use of object source lighting. The warm and fiery glow from the molten base bathes the figure in a dramatic, infernal light. The piece stands out as a masterclass in lighting and composition, conveying both mystery and power in equal measure.

  • 2nd place: Torel_modest_paint for their painting work on Nullborn Prophetess.

This painted miniature is a bold explosion of color, texture, and narrative detail. The figure’s vivid palette features electric blues, purples, and golds. The highlight is the back of the cloak by far. A hand-painted night scene with a silhouetted tree under a full moon, creating a serene contrast to the savagery depicted on the front. It could be a powerful visual duality, day versus night, calm versus fury.

  • 3rd place: Griffin for their painting work on Solvaris - Flame of Atonement.

This miniature captures dynamic motion and elemental power with remarkable flair. The palette is striking, fiery reds and oranges erupt from the base, contrasting with deep blues and purples in the wings, and creating a vivid spectrum of heat and magic.

Let's go now to the Classic Category winners! This new category for 2025, where participants can enter with any previous Archvillain Games mini, except the current month's release models. Many have participated in this category so it has been even tougher to pick the winners in the Classic Category, and here they are:

  • 1st place: Callum White for their painting work on Aratiel - The Golden.

A breathtaking representation of avian majesty fused with divine elegance. The paint has been masterfully blended with warm tones of gold, crimson, and amber across the feathers and armor, creating a rich, fiery palette that gives the miniature a phoenix-like aura.

  • 2nd place: Satellite_designs for their painting work on Kagon - Aspect of Demogorgon.

Stunning paint job! The deep, fleshy purples and blacks of the skin give it a sinister, otherworldly presence, while the turquoise and red accents on its back add an unexpected but effective contrast, emphasizing its otherworldly, unnatural anatomy.

  • 3rd place: Scale_modeling_studio for their painting work on Torlok Matron.

The painter has expertly emphasized the texture of the skin, making veins and muscle striations pop, and used cold blue-gray tones in the hair and face to contrast the otherwise warm, gritty composition. The earthy palette composed of desaturated flesh tones, worn leathers, and aged bone gives it a grounded, brutal realism.

Congratulations to all winners who qualify for the Second Quarter Final, which will take place in July. But that is not their only reward; they also get some amazing prizes from our sponsors, which we detail for those who have not checked them before.
