Maidens of the Fall, Arc 4, Autolysis, Chapter 6
Chapter jingles and jangles, clatters and clangs, bouncing down the stone staircase in the heart of the old castle, chasing unwary interlopers out into the moonlit forest night.

An epub of the chapter is also attached, as always!
And thus the mysteries of our magical menagerie begin to melt into morbid musings. Or maybe I just felt like a bit of alliteration, for fun. Ahem. Seriously though, Octavia's got a lot to learn, and she's finally getting underway??? Well, sort of. I can't say much more about the chapter here, of course, not until you've read it!
I seem to mention arc length and plans in every single chapter post lately, and I hope that's interesting, getting a little glimpse of the process behind the scenes and all that; I guess in part it's because I'm trying to be so much more careful and deliberate with structure in Maidens, trying to put into action everything I've learned in the past. Anyway, point is, plans have once again adjusted! Arc 4 will be going to 8 chapters, absolutely for certain. But not more than 8. And then we'll be onto arc 5, the title of which I have yet to reveal, for ... reasons. Ehehe.
Anyway! I hope you all enjoy the chapter, dear readers. As always, I couldn't do any of this without all of you. Thank you so much!

Rather than working with or for the govt, given how dangerous Lucid Dreamers are being described as. I'd say she's probably the one, or one of the ones on top. Probably even a proto dream God of humanity with Britain as her domain in the same way the moon is Nerys'.
Ohohoho! Yes, very interesting theory, I was wondering if any readers might raise a suggestion along these lines. If there are Lucid Dreamers within the British system, they're so powerful that they must be on top. Perhaps there is an apex to the pyramid of state power that we've not quite seen, not yet.
Point of order, Occy: cats are in fact quite zooglike
Octavia probably could have gotten away with phrasing it that way!
Attending this business meeting on the moon is like sitting at the Mad Hatter's table for a tea party. If you have any expectations of getting serious business done, then you my dear, are the crazy one.
Hahahaha, yes! Perfectly put, thank you. I don't think anybody truly expected this 'meeting' was going to go remotely to plan. Except Signal, maybe. They are holding it halfway into a dream, of course.
Was having a real bad night dealing with some friend group drama, and wouldn't you know it you bless us with another chapter. Reading about Octavia and all her chaotic and messed up emotions genuinely helped a ton with regulating my own, so thank you onceore for such a lovely chapter!
Aww, you're so very welcome! I'm always especially glad when my storytelling can help anybody out there who's having a bad day. Octavia is particularly messy, indeed, and sometimes reading about that is the perfect medicine.
