Nice Boats

After a complex month of July with the Japan Expo and the 3rd heatwave, I finally manage to film the boats I was teasing on Twitter.

"Why rubber boats ?" you may ask.

Well, for some childhood reasons, boats are one of my favorite inflatables (most favorite ?).

Have you experienced hopping into a boat that got distorted for staying hours in the sun ? The slightly rancid smell of the PVC, hint (or loads ! ) of sand between the floor beams, those humongous squeaky sausages that blobs with the sea waves, etc ...

On top of that, in the 80s, "inflatable dinghies" used to come with super colorful designs and sometimes with very rubbbery PVC.

Well....

Here are two videos that were filmed inside the canopy with a certain amount of heat. i'm sorry that it's not 5D cinema to enjoy the smell of them !

• Intex the "Wetset" 3 person boat (1995 millesime)

in the 90s, there was a time where the maker were using this specific thin PVC in swimrings etc ... It was a bit grainy (until stretched) and very very rubbery.

This boat is made of that PVC. Using the sunlight and the help of a air drier, I managed to transform this boat in a rubbery floating PVC prison.

• Sevylor K105 "caravelle boat" (recent boat currently "onsale")

Sevylor was a proeminent french inflatable brand in the 70s-90s. Their catalog was totally incredible with new crazy designs every year.

They were specially famous for their "caravelle" boat (<- my childhood). There was a time when those inflatable boats were "cotton coated-rubber". I have one like that but it's a 1m version :D

Anyway, Sevylor was bouth by a State company and now it sucks. The only design left are quality Kayaks and those "Kxxx" Caravellles in blue and gray.

Got that one for cheap on leboncoin.com since it had a ugly repair on the outter beam. So let's pop it ?
