These were mostly for me. The mechanics and engineering of these are fascinating! I spent a good while after I got back from the museum just trying to understand the Model T gearbox. I still don't understand how reverse works. It looks like it should be another forward gear.

Am I to guess this means that you are back working on the escape? I wanted to up my contribution when the project is back on!
I am! Sort of. I'll provide an Patreon update next week. Progress has essentially gone backward on it
"If I turn the wheel, the entire body shifts". My Tesla Model X does exactly the same thing. Apparently they all do. It doesn't inspire confidence.
My grandfather had a model T in the 1920's and his honeymoon was a drive up the east coast from North Carolina up to New York (from where there are plenty of photos). Considering the fact that roads in those days were mostly local dirt roads, well, a bit of a crazy thing to do.
Such a great little walk through automotive history. I always wanted to know how the original Benz worked. I've read the description, but seeing it and having you explain it makes all the sense.
There is an Australian guy who runs a YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@ModelTMitch). He owns a Model T and has created several highly detailed videos showcasing the mechanics of that car. I highly recommend checking it out if you're interested.
