Discord?

Hi all!

I hope you're all doing well, and had a nice weekend/start of the week.

First of all, I would like to thank you all again for the continuous support. It's thanks to you that I can wake up every day excited to work on videos, courses, learning and experimenting with techniques, and making music and weird sounds. So, thank you!

I was wondering what is the best way for us to stay more connected. I think that posting here on Patreon might be a bit uncomfortable for many of you, and the last thing I want is to spam you with posts. Since a few years, we have a Discord channel just for Patreons, but it's kind of quiet there, so I'm unsure how to approach this.

It's totally understandable if you don't want to connect, and if you already have too much going on on social platforms, that you don't need another group to spam you. It's just that I like the idea of having a community where I can share what I work on, the music I listen to, get recommendations from you, and just hang out with like-minded people.

So, what do you think? Do you like the idea of having a Discord channel just for us? Do you prefer to keep everything on Patreon? Or, maybe there's even a better idea I'm not aware of.

I would love to hear your input!

And, just in case, for those of you who are interested in Discord, this is how you can join: https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/212052266-Getting-Discord-access

Thanks again!

personally, i believe discord’s organization and ability to categorize topics/ conversations is great! but i don’t find myself coming back to it and engaging as often as i would like, due to the lack of activity. I find your content incredibly valuable and find it so rewarding to support via the patreon very much so! i and other members see the value in community, and enhancing the engagement between one another would be extremely beneficial! I would love to see some collaborative projects, community based events and just overall peer to peer connections allowing the patreon to feel like a true network and a valuable space! Regardless, thank you omri for the amazing content and wealth of information you provide

Thanks so much for the feedback! That's something I would love to work toward to.

I honestly check out discord like once every few months, so I tend do see stuff too late to properly interact on there. Patreon is much cleaner for me.

I will continue posting about stream and videos/pacthes also here

I prefer Patreon, much easier to use and not crowded, keep it coming :-)

I find Discord's UI a bit overwhelming, it's easy to miss stuff there. I find here, it's better contained.

Thanks Omri, Discord is fine and adds a extra layer of communication. I like patreon but already use a lot of discord for groups and pateron members, etc.. There is a new dia platform the is gear to music maker of all types. I visit Synth Nerds United (run by Melvin Rijlaarsdam) reqularly on www.skool.com

Oh, nice! I will also join there and see how it is and how it works. Thanks!

I would love to be able to be more involved/interactive but have a chronic illness that restricts me so much that I can't. I love your music and videos. Keep on doing what you love.

I appreciate your support!

I am interested in the Discord (I'm a bit shy so I don't really post there but I do read. I should try and be more engaging.) I like Lapte's ideas.

I hope to make Discord a more comfortable space for everyone.

Keep Discord but maybe on top of restructuring the topics, try ways to make it interactive. It would be nice to see what others do with the sound design challenge for instance. Would also be nice to have people present themselves to the group by say answering some standard questions (for example by calling out someone per week). I assume most may want to share some of their work. It might be fun if you were able to give some monthly themes. I'm sure you can get really creative with this. I would very much appreciate more of a community feel. Hope everyone else would as well.

Yeah, those are great ideas. I always held myself back, because I didn't want to pressure anyway, and definitely not spam people. I know it on myself that, with all the information available everywhere and all the social platforms, it can be overwhelming to follow everything and participate in challenges and so. I will have to see first how to rearrange things so they are easier to follow, and how to create a better place for us to communicate on a deeper level.

Discord is good - and I agree with Marcus - not too many topics. Keep it simple.

O
Omri Cohen · April 19, 2026

Yeah, as it is now, there are many topics... I will see what I can do.

M
Mr SkipMonkey · April 19, 2026

I came to say pretty much what Mike said and I have no issue with more interaction from you on either platform.

O
Omri Cohen · April 19, 2026

Cool!

Dean Pachano · April 19, 2026

I like both but there is a lot of noise in Discord. Removing some of the least used topics/sections will make it feel a little less noisy.

O
Omri Cohen · April 19, 2026

Reorganizing is a good idea!

Scott August - Impulse Kontrol · April 19, 2026

I joined your Patreon because I wanted to support you and learn from you, not for a social outlet. There is enough noise in my life without having to wade through a chat stream. Your Patreon videos are great and to the point, not a mess of others input. You say Discord is quiet? Maybe there are others who feel like I do and therefore are not even voting for that reason. Polls like this tend to be very lopsided for that reason.

O
Omri Cohen · April 19, 2026

Yeah, I see what you mean. I also feel sometimes like there's too much noise everywhere, and the fact the Discord is mostly chats, makes it harder to find a calm place to discuss things. Thanks for the feedback and the support!

Discord, yes. I wouldn't touch any others (Facefook, Instacram, Twitster <- refuse to call this X, or similar wannabe's) with an extra long barge pole. Haven't looked into it yet but Bluesky might be OK. Or Twitch, but it really doesn't fit here and also has the added baggage of being owned by Amazon so... But those aren't options so Discord, yes.

O
Omri Cohen · April 19, 2026

Oh, no, I'm not going near those platforms... I don't have Twitter or Instagram, and I just recently closed my Facebook for good.

M
Marc Coyles · April 19, 2026

Discord is fine… I’ve just gotten old and spend more time lost in my own head than engaging with anyone *shrug*

O
Omri Cohen · April 19, 2026

I'm "locked" up in my studio the whole day, and the only conversations I have are with my kids, and wife... I also need other people to talk to...

M
Marcus Barfield · April 19, 2026

I like Discord, but maybe a simplified menu to make it more like 6-8 topics and then it should be more inviting to chat.

O
Omri Cohen · April 19, 2026

Yeah, it looks like organizing things is better. I'll see what I can do.

N
Neal Sanche · April 19, 2026

I like having both.

M
MrB · April 19, 2026

Hi Im new to all of this. The group, modular, discord, patreon….your emails have the most effective way to reach me. I will join the discord and try to be more involved. Please know that even though I’m not active you have helped me and I value your efforts even if I haven’t taken advantage of all that you offer yet.

O
Omri Cohen · April 19, 2026

I appreciate it, thank you!

LunGao Son · April 19, 2026

Hello! For me, things can stay as they are: Patreon for video and patch releases and Discord for general matters.

O
Omri Cohen · April 19, 2026

That makes sense!

F
Froidevaux Etienne · April 19, 2026

I agree with Mike, I mostly used Discord when the monthly challenges was a thing. Now I go from time to time to see what's going on. I don't really understand how it works with Patreon, I just receive email about what you post but I didn't know that there where some kind of community features on this plateform

O
Omri Cohen · April 19, 2026

I also don't think that Patreon is the right place for communicating. I wish more people were interested in the challenges. They were fun!

M
Mike · April 19, 2026

I like Patreon but also discord is good. If videos and resources remain as an archive on Patreon I think Discord is better for streams and other interactions

O
Omri Cohen · April 19, 2026

Yeah, that makes total sense!
