I have it in HW. The start-of-loop potmeter has a shift option allowing you to configure sampler buffer overwrite. You probably had it set to overdub instead of replace. In HW it defaults to overwrite although you can also change start values upon switching it on although i never tried that yet.

Oh and press shift and random to clear the sampler buffer (or use rightclick in VCV lol).
