Turns out, Shirosaki’s “we never talked” story has more holes than a colander and between a chatty salaryman, an uncharacteristically shy off-duty beat cop, and two nosy, geezers with the memory of elephants, the tea is hot and the truth is about to boil over.

I could’ve stuck with the original story beat, but honestly, the story needed to move forward and begging for fresh perspectives. Preferably not from someone who’s been proven to be always dodging the truth or another who's version of things are blurred by love drunkenness. Yeah, I might’ve skipped a beat in the story's natural flow, but having Officer Kaede step up and actually use her cop instincts to extract blunt truth from the udon shop owners just made way more sense. With this comic being only one page a week, I’ve got to make every scene count and advance the plot. So I made a choice: skip a bit of narrative beat in exchange for a solid push forward in the plot. Sometimes, you’ve just got to move the story where it needs to go, even if that means cutting corners here and there.
