Poll: PGM or CPS3

Esperanza is done with Taito's Extermination schematics. Which system should she work on next?

She will extract the schematics for the chosen system from a donated PCB. This is a step required for a precise FPGA core.

I'd love to see CPS3 but I've chosen PGM as it seems that it's got quite a lot of fans and some interesting games.

CPS3 !!

I'm a fan of cps3, but PolyGame Master would bring more value imo, mainly the CAVE ports, Demon Front, and lots of other cool stuff.

Cps3 and the hopefully the mortal kombat games. If you could get Naomi working, I will vote for you for president.

I know everyone loves Capcom but there’s already SO much Capcom coverage. It would be cool to see something more unique like PGM.

M
Muriel Melvin · October 14, 2022

Ooo… I just realized PGM might help with the Cave cores since it’s pretty common to convert some of them to PGM carts. Now that’s something I can REALLY get excited about.

S
Salvador Perugorria Lorente · October 13, 2022

I've voted PGM. CPS 3 is great, but games won't work on MiST, and it's more known than PGM.

K
Kaya Bear · October 13, 2022

The games wont work on MiST?

L
Lee Turner · October 13, 2022

Hardware availablity permitting, in the future I'd love to see FPGA's of Chase H.Q 1/2 Crime City, Violence fight, Growl, Operation wolf/Operation Thunderbolt

P
Pixel Cherry Ninja · October 13, 2022

When does the poll end?

M
Michael Martin · October 13, 2022

I voted "Other"; my pick is Taito F3 as I'm confident MiSTer could handle it, especially with Sega Saturn development being the the works. The Saturn had various ports of Taito F3 games; the most notable ones being Elevator Action Returns and Bubble Symphony. Taito, is one of my favorite arcade developers and being able to play Space Invaders '95 would be damn awesome! Please stay safe, Ukrainian citizens.

J
JakeTheDog · October 13, 2022

I would second this tbf, having the Bubble Bobble sequels left alone would be amazing! But still - 3rd Strike is a must at one point!

K
Kaya Bear · October 13, 2022

3rd Strike may be the greatest fighting game ever made, and it's hardware is proportionally as rare and difficult as the game is good. If yall fix this, yall grow from becoming legendary to becoming mythical.

A
Angelo Kanaris · October 13, 2022

Absolutely love Capcom & CPS3... though it feels like now is a good time to show some love towards PGM and make this hardware more accessible.

I'm using x68000 already with midi support. Works great.

R
Retro Games Mania · October 12, 2022

PGM, I think it is a hardware to discover and replicate, because it brings a very large and different title fleet from the more than excellent CPS3 system. This could be considered later . Although my dream would be the namco system 22.

J
James Nivin · October 12, 2022

PGM for sure! Demon front is gorgeous, and I just love the knights of valour series. Cps3 can come after :) but honestly ether way I’ll be happy, Just can’t lose!

D
Darren Chell · October 12, 2022

PGM offers a much more varied selection of titles whereas CPS3 is very weighted towards one genre

Y
Yang Wenli · October 14, 2022

Not even "very weighted", literally EVERY CPS3 game is a fighting game, and all but one game (Warzard) is just a variant of a previous game.

M
Mickaël Renou · October 12, 2022

PGM of course ! In terms of legendary games, PGM Vs CPS3 is a 4:1 score.

J

P
Pixel Cherry Ninja · October 12, 2022

For anyone wondering why CPS3? It's because Street Fighter 3 Third Strike is still popular and played competitively even today. JoJo's is another game people really like. On fightcade SF3 3S is usually the most popular game.

M
Masked Ninja · October 12, 2022

J

a
aoalej · October 12, 2022

Cps3 core would be a new competitive standard for 3S offline so that’s where my vote goes

D
Dacasks · October 12, 2022

From preservation standpoint you gotta go with CPS3. These boards are just kamizake, had 3 boards, the 3 simply stopped working for no f reason with no repair possibility. It's such a trash piece of hardware, you can't help to think it was made to fail so you had to buy another one. Also from gaming/emulation history point of view you gotta go with it. For years emulation of it was so ellusive, and from the few games available Third Strike is important to a whole community/competitive gaming scene, that would benefit greatly by having a FPGA option handy. Commercial ports and emulation are just subpar as well until this day.

L

J
Joe Tassone · October 11, 2022

Both great boards, CPS3 with 6 fighting games vs. PGM that has over 30 games (consisting of multiple genres). Due to the cps3 security cartridge and suicide battery issue it's a no-brainer on which core should be developed first though.

S
Steven A Rodriguez · October 11, 2022

Pgm for variety. CPS3 is just for 3rd Strike. Either core working would be great though.

Y
Yang Wenli · October 11, 2022

This is exactly how I feel about this. We get a bunch of great games with a PGM core. With a CPS3 core, we get... Third Strike. I personally think CPS3 can wait.

A
ALFREDO CANAS · October 11, 2022

CPS3 is nice but it's basically SF3 core since there's a limited set of games. I more interested on PGM but it seems it's way behind in the voting count.

K

J
Jork Sonkinfield · October 11, 2022

3rd strike is quite possibly the best fighting game of all time, so I would love to see CPS3... but PGM looks pretty cool too. I would also like to see the Mystic Warriors HW get some love some day.

A
Alexander Stieglmayr · October 11, 2022

I think there are more than enough games in the fighter genre on the mister already I would also like to see more classic games from the pre 90s especially from the shooter area. Raiden 1 and 2 would be a real enrichment also Twin Cobra and Sky Shark. Konami also has another great games for example Juno First, Battlantis, Pandoras Palace (runs on TimePilot hardware), Vulcan Venture, Gradius III, Ajax. Further more Namco games as Pacmania, Rolling Thunder, Dragon Spirit. These games (and many more) are still needed to fill the gap of classical games but of course taste is different.

PGM for me , CPS3 is cool but it's only 6 beat'em'up titles for ti... Here are the game lists btw: http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=809&page=1 http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=799

CPS3! The SF3s community is really looking forward to seeing it!🥰

Polygame, cps3 have only a bunch of games, half of them are sf3 variants. I prefear a bigger arcade list for mister 😊

J
John Ornelas · October 11, 2022

CPS3 would be so massive for the retro fighting game scene.

C
CorebornCreations · October 11, 2022

There are still a bunch of emblematic games to tackle (although the game boards are needed of course) such as: Nekketsu Koukou Dodgeball-bu Tehkan World Cup (I have a bootleg/joystick arcade board) but it needs some minor repair I think. I would be glad to donate Tehkhan Pinball Action Isn't the core for these 2 Tehkan games already implemented? Also: Twin Cobra Flying Shark Cabal Chopper 1 Toki Just to name a few... I think that PGM and Cps3, although worth pursuing, gameplay wise aren't so appealling to me just because they are "just" improved games imho... Great games nonetheless...

M
Marc Mouton · October 11, 2022

PGM and by far, i want to play Demon Front, plus some other great games. CPS3 only has fighting games, very few games and the majority have been ported to console. I understand CPS3 is important in an historical point of view but frankly there is not muchdiscussion here. And it is suppose to be extremly complex...

G
G Foyle · October 11, 2022

PGM for sure. I could undertand doing CPS3 first, if it wouldn't be a lot of work, but from what I have undertstood, it's not that easy and might take a while to achieve. PGM offers much more games and some definite classics, like those CAVE shoot em ups.

r
robinmasters · October 11, 2022

My graal would be namco system 22 now that the psx core is done

R
Richard Eng · October 11, 2022

CPS3 because CPS1+2 is already done. Makes logical sense to complete the trilogy. I'm also guessing that CPS3 is an evolution of CPS2 so it will probably be quicker to implement than PGM???

J
Jeremy Hopkins · October 11, 2022

I wouldn't assume that CPS3 would be quicker to implement. If anything, I'd guess it'd be significantly more work to complete the CPS3 and it would be very impressive to have a FPGA version up and running.

M
Mike · October 11, 2022

CPS3 time for 3rd Strike, jojos and red earth! :D

D
Darren Wootton · October 11, 2022

PGM for DoDonPachi DOJ/Espgaluda/Ketsui would be fantastic

C
Carlo Pedrazzini · October 11, 2022

Both of course, but PGM has much more games. CPS3 is basically just SF3, maybe we can wait a little bit more for that?

p

Sega System 32 ;) I want to play Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder :) But I support the development of anything you want to do! Great work!

T
Tuxosaurus · October 11, 2022

I am voting CPS3 as I stopped searching for an original system because it's too expensive and fragile - and the CD thing is so annoying that you're better off hacking it... which makes it all the more worthy of any conservation project IMO. And yes this would also help switching from Super Turbo to Third Strike at my local ;)

Cps3 would complete the cps trinity! Let’s go!!

R
Raziel · October 11, 2022

PGM has a some good titles like DoDonPachi DaiOuJou and I wouldn't mind if it won, but having Street Fighter 3 Third Strike on FPGA hardware kind of trumps everything else for me. It's a game I find myself always going back to, and right now, emulation is the only option other than owning the original arcade board. I actually looked at getting a CPS3 board, but my goodness, they are REALLY expensive. I have the Dreamcast version of Third Strike which obviously runs in hardware, but it's also known to be a very inaccurate port. It would be good having the best of both worlds, running in (FPGA) hardware AND being arcade accurate. So for now, my vote is for CPS3. I'm pretty keen to get the final CPS system implemented.

Voted cps3 for "warzard" reasons and complete the 2D era of street fighter saga, capcom vs snk series i think is hybrid mixed spin off and second part has more polygon background art.
