Commando Public Release MiST(er)
UPDATE: attached zip files now fix the key remap issue in MiSTer. There were also some graphic glitches and gameplay errors that seemed to be caused by a low speed CPU. I have increased it from 3MHz to 6MHz, which goes against the Commando schematics. I'll measure the real board the next time I visit the arcade museum in Ibi. Note that the files are also in the github release folder.
Don't waste your time reading. Just grab the files at the bottom and insert a coin in your MiST(er)!
Notes for MiSTer users:
Please read the text files for instructions. Note that the core name has changed to JTCOM in MiSTer (previously a.com in the beta release) and this implies renaming the a.com.rom file to jtcom.rom and the folder name for the roms should be called jtcom.
You will not receive these files from the regular update system of MiSTer. These files will be stored here and in the github repository.
Keys are the same now for MiST and MiSTer. Please check the readme file. They are basically the same as MAME. Have fun enabling and disabling graphics using F7-F10!
Thanks to
Special thanks to the ROM master for preparing the BAT file and to Gyurco for the rotate controls option (check it out on the OSD!). Also to Hark0 for the nice JT logo I use in the OSD.
Enjoy!

Please read the post update.
Great Game very challenging, but satisfying
It's a minor thing, but I wish this conformed more closely to the standard naming and menu style of the rest of the mister arcade cores. Will a more standard version end up on the main mister repo at a later date? Any plans to map a start button to a controller instead of just generic buttons 1-4? I believe button 4 ends up being coin but as of now it seems like there's no way to start a game without a keyboard.
I knew about the buttons but I didn't think it was a big deal. I will correct it.
Hehe, and the next thing is, when selecting 5 Lives at OSD, game's over after 3 lost lives :)
You have to reset the game for the setting to take effect.
Is it only me who finds the screen somewhat garbled? I can't remember this on the beta core, but alas, I haven't it anymore. Have a look at the comparing picture MiST/MAME, both an VGA: https://i.imgur.com/wYFbvER.png
Sometimes the scan doubler doesn't sync correctly. Press F3 to reset the game (you may want to leave it pressed for a couple of seconds). It will normally boot up synchronized. I have three scan doublers to choose from. This one has this issue but has the smoothest scroll, so I prefer it.
Thank you very much! I've got a feature request. I would like to add the Coin Button to a controller. I've got an arcarde board with 1up and Coin buttons but have to use keyboard instead, which is pitty. But thank you very(!) much for your great work! It's good to see it preserved forever now!
With my cheap china usb controller I can insert coins with button "4" https://i.imgur.com/FJD6CGx.jpg
Wondefull and easy, thanks for this!! Now waiting for Popeye ^_^
Is it me or is the buildrom.ini is missing ??? from the MiSTer archive ... love the new interface and Logo by the way
Sorry, I zipped the wrong version of the build_rom.sh file. It is corrected now. The ROM script for linux is just the one I use for development so it isn't as complete as the batch file for Windows.
Muchísimas gracias, menudo pasote :-)
I'm super stoked about this! Thanks for the hard work.
The Man and The Machine. Thanks for all the hard work!
Legend! Many thanks.
Fantastic job, suitable to the weekend!
