Real Audio Tape on 8-bit CPU cores

I have written a module which once added to the 8-bit CPU cores (Spectrum, Amstrad, Commodore, Atari...) will enable direct tape connection to the MiSTer board. I mean, an actual tape or other audio source. Now other people are looking into finishing this, with proper support in the MiSTer framework and I/O boards to connect to it.

YM2160 is also ready. Maybe it will need some debugging, but it is pretty much done.

So I am moving now to preparing the release of 1943 arcade core with all the names and avatars of my dear patrons!

Just for curiosity, i noticed that the new little "audio-in" mister interface use two analog input, why, is one not sufficient?

One is enough indeed. Sorgelig choose to make the connection stereo just in case we come up with some other usage for it in the future. One could be the line input of X68000 computer.

Awesome! Can I make a special request for future work? I would LOVE to see virtual CD-ROM support (i.e. be able to consume cue/bin files) for PC Engine, MegaDrive, Amiga CD32, etc so MiSTer can finally support those CD games. Any chance that’s something you’d be able and willing to work on? The inability to play PC Engine CD-ROM games is particularly sad :(

I totally agree with you. I want to see CD-ROM done at least in one core so we can start re-using it. If nobody comes there first, I'll do it eventually.

Also am really looking forward to the 1943 release. Is there a rough ETA?

Seriously? This guy works on this stuff in his free time as a hobby, and you’re going to start applying schedule pressure by asking for an ETA? Poor form!

It's going to be very similar to the beta, but public!
