Space Harrier/Enduro Racer
Early update this week to bring up a new core: JTHARIER. Available for MiSTer, Pocket and SiDi128 and developed by Chris Watson in close collaboration with Jotego.
After several weeks of going back and forth through several reviews, and a final edition by Jotego, the core got well aligned with both the hardware and the JT framework so I am very happy to have it in the project. Thanks Chris!
I think the games need no presentation, but the usage does:
Space Harrier
Look in the DIP switch menu for these options:
Stick Direction: selects airplane-style control, or regular up-is-up control
D-Pad Control: select console mode to have the character stay at the current position instead of gravitating back to the screen centre
V Glyph Fix: this fixes an original bug in the game. Off by default, yet probably better to enable it
The recommendation is to use an analog stick to play, but the console mode works quite well with a d-pad too.
Enduro Racer
No special DIP switches here, but the control deserves an explanation. You need a gamepad with three analog axis. My recommendation is to use a dual-stick gamepad.
Left analog stick: use left/right for steering and up/down to lean the bike back and forth. These two elements combine to set how the bike turns left or right
Right analog stick: use up to accelerate and down to brake
No support for d-pad yet, sorry. I have to decide how to map these analog controls to a digital-only controller and still have a playable game.
Enduro Racer is hence playable on the Analog Pocket, but only if you plug it to the dock and connect to an dual-stick gamepad.
Other Updates
Not much since last Friday yet, I was able to set CPS1/1.5/2 to use the same improvements that other cores in the framework have for managing SDRAM contention. This translates to the user as having a more accurate CPU speed.
These first CPS cores are the only ones in the project that bypass some framework features to do some "low level" things and are a bit harder to update, hence they were falling behind in some features.
The attached files are labelled for this Friday's date because this will be this week's update as I will not be able to upload an update on Friday.
