JOTEGO's 2025

As we look back on this year at JOTEGO, it’s incredible to see just how much ground we’ve covered together. Thanks to your continued support, 2025 has been one of our most active and ambitious years so far — not just in terms of game releases, but also in technical progress and long-requested features.

We kicked off January with Ninja Gaiden, Gradius II, and Cue Brick, alongside the introduction of Multi-way Joystick Emulation, making shooter games more fun by controlling them with the analog sticks. February followed with Typhoon Gal, Rumba Lumber, and Victorious Nine, continuing our steady release pace.

In March, we expanded hardware compatibility by adding Sinden LightGun support, releasing N.Y. Captor, Wild Fang, Strato Fighter, and Dokaben 2 — a milestone that many of you had been waiting for.

April brought Bronx and Rolling Thunder, while May became one of our most packed months with Sky Kid Deluxe, Wonder Momo, Hopping Mappy, Pac-Land, The Return of Ishtar, and Genpei Tōma Den.

June kept the momentum going with Metro-Cross, Laser Ghost, Desert Breaker, and Lightning Fighters.

In July, alongside Ajax, we responded directly to community requests by enabling support for four Neo Geo Pocket titles, opening the door to an entirely new platform. Ajax was the first title to include rotation of an image layer. This feature was extensively used by Konami and is quite demanding to the SDRAM on our modern FPGA setups.

August saw the release of Surprise Attack, as well as important work behind the scenes fixing several audio issues across multiple cores. Surprise Attack was one of these unexpected cores. We had bought the PCB a long time ago, almost forgot about it and then realised that we had most of the required chips already implemented. We did the job well, extracting full schematics from the PCB and helping MAME solve a layer transparency issue that had been going on for years.

In September, we did a lot of maintenance work focused on stability and quality — resolving a large number of issues. It was also the month of Golfing Greats. This is another Konami title using rotation and other 3D effects, for which we shared technical insights. As with Surprise Attack, the work we did on the schematics for Golfing Greats has shown how the hardware processed where the ball is on the screen, which was unknown before.

Furrtek's RE work on the Konami chip has been fundamental too in order to recreate them accurately. Combining the RE for the chips, the PCBs and the power of FPGA, we have done the best possible recreations of this hardware.

October was another major highlight, with five releases in a single month: Turtles in Time, Clockwork Aquario, Where’s Wally?, D.D. Crew, and Hammer Away. In November, after months of anticipation, we finally delivered Run & Gun, fulfilling a promise many of you had been holding us to.

We closed the year strong in December by making System 18 publicly available, and bringing Run & Gun to the Analogue Pocket, expanding access to even more players.

There are some updates ready for the next JTFRIDAY, and a new core too, but that will have to wait a couple more days, until the 2nd of January 2026!

This short summary does not cover all of the new games and features published during 2025. It is just too much! And none of this would have been possible without your trust, patience, and encouragement.

Your support doesn’t just fund development — it shapes priorities, drives decisions, and pushes JOTEGO forward. As we move into next year, we’re more motivated than ever to keep improving, exploring new hardware, and bringing even more classic arcade experiences to life.

THANK YOU!

Fantastic 2025, much success and looking forward to 2026! Also - crazy how many arcade games there are, seems like the number is somewhere between thousands and infinity, and how even though some will use *almost* identical chips there are still enough differences and tricky edge cases to not let anyone get any sleep ever, almost no free lunches at all.
