Early Access: B-25 - Tank Gun Bomber With Extra Firepower
I was fortunate to find a B-25H armed with a 75mm tank gun at the New England Air Museum recently. Let's talk about why this bomber was converted to carry some heavy firepower!
Looking forward to your comments,
Chris

Sort of solving a problem that does not exist? I'd say it was a good investment in matching technology (radar) with a 75mm gun mounted in an aircraft. Plus how the crew positions were reviewed and eliminated. The evolution of a repurposed ground/sea attack. The good news is that production was limited to a few aircraft. Those crewmen, I'd say had permanent ear damage after a few sorties.
Something something Tze Fly something...
You mean "Tsetse Fly"? No large-bore guns on that, just lots and lots of medium-sized ones!
A natty hat A jaunty spring jacket Leather dress shoes Looks like he just finished his shift at the hardware store, and then reported to the airport
Just love the guy handing-up cannon shells for loading
