IMPORTANT NOTE
My best man has been in the ICU for a month now. He has diabetes, and it seems that he either didn't know about it or chose to ignore the warning signs. When he was admitted to the hospital, his condition was critical. He was placed into a medically induced coma, his kidneys had failed, his liver was severely damaged, his blood sugar and toxin levels were off the charts, and one of his lungs was badly damaged.
He went to the hospital because he wasn't feeling well and could barely breathe. Someone could easily have assumed it was stress, anxiety, or even a panic attack. Thankfully, his wife didn't overthink it and took him to the hospital immediately.
I still remember that first week. The doctors put him into a coma and intubated him so they could perform dialysis and administer the medications he needed in the hope of stabilizing him and bringing him back. At the time, they told us to prepare for the worst. His condition changed constantly, sometimes improving, sometimes getting worse, and our emotions followed the same roller coaster. One day we felt hopeful, the next we were terrified.
I've known him since fourth grade. We've been friends for most of our lives, but honestly, "friend" feels like too small a word. He's my brother.
Because of everything that has been happening, I haven't been able to provide the tags many of you voted for, and I probably won't be able to for a little while longer. Right now, my days consist of home, work, and then the hospital. I'm struggling to keep up with everything.
The good news is that the doctors have now significantly reduced his sedation, and the latest updates have been positive. However, we're not out of danger yet. There is still a long road ahead of him, and we're taking things one day at a time.
For now, I've paused billing to make sure no one is charged unfairly. I will do my best to deliver the voted tags during June, but I can't make any promises right now. With the little time and energy I have left each day, I simply don't know what I'll be able to accomplish.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your patience, your understanding, and all the kind and compassionate messages you've sent me. Your support has meant more to me than I can possibly express.
You are all incredibly important to me, and I carry your kindness with me every day. Thank you for standing by me during one of the most difficult periods of my life.
With love,
Jenny
