Herd Goliath - Just around the corner! (August billing cycle paused)
Hey folks!
My apologies for not posting earlier. Things have been quite busy and stressful for me lately.
With June and July being synonymous with serious heat waves and loads of personal stuff getting in the way (funerals, among other things), production was badly delayed, and being unable to finish the current model in due time stressed me out. And you know how all these things can snowball into something quite debilitating (for me, at least).
This model is currently over 135 Million polygons, and counting up..!!
Just to give you an idea, before prepping and final STL export for 3D printing, most models I make don't go past the 15-16M polygons threshold. That's how big and detailed the Herd Goliath is.
In any case, the model is now very close to completion and will finally enter the presupport stage some time this weekend.
Since August is already under a week away, I have decided the pause the August billing cycle. That way, hopefully, everybody will have all the time they need to download the Herd Goliath when it's available!
The model will be split into four parts (lower body, upper body, left arm and right arm).
This is to ensure it can be printed on the smallest build sizes (two printing session will likely be necessary), and lower overall printing time, which also lowers the failure rate.
Imagine printing this almost 15cm beast as one single object and seeing it fail halfway through.. hopefully spliting it into four parts should mitigate this potential issue.
So, again, no worries, nobody's getting charged for August, since production on the next batch of models hasn't even started.
I'll make sure the Carnival of Chaos vol.2 set will be available in September.
October will probably be another set of Ratfolks, including a Rat Ogre ;)
Again, sincere apologies for the delays.
I hope many of you are getting enough rest and some very well deserved vacation :)

Bro, no complaining here. I think we can all agree we would rather you take care of yourself first and foremost (i mean lets face it, if anything happened to you, we wouldn't get any cool models anyway). If it's any consolation, it was 2 degrees Celsius here yesterday at the arse end of the world, so no 3D printing likely to happen anyway :-). Looking forward to the goliath and those ratties when they come out.
Thanks man :D Damn, 2°C? Where do you live? I should be there ^^
Yeah, sorry you're dealing with all of that - the model looks great despite it! It's 105F (>40C) here today, so I feel you
Damn, man... those temperatures are just awful. And my apartment is right under the roofs, which makes it ever hotter. Thank god I am still able to relocate to a cooler place for the summer, but it's always cumbersome. Glad you like the model. Hopefully it should be all done in a few days now :)
Don't apologize Manuel, art takes time if you want to do it well. Don't worry. Pausing charging is fine so take your time and breathe. Sorry to read about the funeral... Best wishes. Cheer up! I'm already looking forward to seeing those ratiillas. Great job on this great guy. A big hug from Barcelona :)
Moltes gràcies, amic! How hot is it in Spain right now? Must be terrible on this side of Pyrenees. Things haven't been too bad in Lyon these past few days, but before that, it was awful. This time again, I had to relocate to my parents' house for the summer just to be able to turn on the PC and get some work done. In any case, thanks again for the kind words, I appreciate it :D
