Tortle Pirate - WIP
Hey folks! Here's my progress on the Tortle pirate ^^ Still a lot to cleanup, but I think it already gives a pretty good idea :) Should be done in a couple days and ready for early September, along with the wizard.
Let me know what you guys think!

I like him and pirates aren’t really my thing :) Just comparing him to the wizard is there a specific choice you made about the eyes? They seem really different in each model!
Thanks, man ^^ Yes, I have decided to make each model from this range into a specific turtle species :) The wizard is really a regular easter box turtle, nothing fancy. The pirate here is based on an alligator snapping turtle. Very different face indeed, especially the eyes ;)
There is great expressiveness in this, I can almost hear the “Onward..to ADVENTURE!” This model would look amazing in a diorama, standing on the masthead of a ship leading their crew to danger and riches. I think this model would look great with its leg up on a treasure chest or a barrel or something like that :)
Thanks, buddy ^^ Granted it's not the most original pose (I recycled an old Hill Giant to make it XD), but I just couldn't think of a better pose for a pirate captain. I picture him saying something in the lines of "All ABOOOAAARD ya bunch o' MAGGOTS!!" XD At some point the leg up on a barrel or treasure chest did cross my mind, but I'm not too comfortable having that kind of character/scenery/prop interaction yet. Gotta get better before I try that kind of fancy stuff ;)
Wonderful thank you
Love the models. The wide stance can make them hard to fit on regulation bases, was wondering what you use.
Thanks :D This is a 25mm base. I know the Gnolls were a tad hard to fit on regular bases, but they're quite big, and even a slightly wide stance would cause issues with the bases. They should still fit on 25mm bases, but with a lot of overhang. There shouldn't be that kind of issues with the Tortles. I'm making them DnD lore-friendly, which means they're roughly the size of humans. They should all fit nicely ;)
What size base is that?
Thank you for posting all of these in-progress images! I love that your pirate tortle has a snapping turtle inspired head. much more aggressive. I was wondering what a tortoise or sea turtle-headed pirate would look like. Will his feet also be inspired by the snapping turtles'? Great work!!
Hey man :D Thanks! Glad you like the WIPs ;) I may try to make his feet claws a bit longer, curvier, pointier, just to see what it looks like ^^
Arrrrrr Matey that is one amazing pirate!
Ahah ^^ Thanks buddy ;)
Love the wodden leg, my gf approves of the hat. Now that is a pirate turtle!
Thanks, buddy :D And thanks for the suggestions ;)

Thanks man :D!
