Kobold Artificer - WIP#1
Hey folks! I took your suggestions into account, made the guy skinnier and started sketching clothing and accessories to make him into an Artificer ^^
Found great references for that class/job online, and figured it'd be a nice opportunity to make a character reminiscent of GW Skryre clan Skaven, like Warlock Engineers and Globadiers ^^
Can't go much further on this sculpt this week, given with my current setup (low-mid end laptop), so I'll start sketching out the other Kobolds instead. Still unsure what class/job I'll do. If you got more funny/exotic classes like the Artificer, let me know :D

Kobold Sorceror - https://www.oort.nz/dnd/wiki/kobold%20scale%20sorcerer.med.png Kobold Dragonscale (in reality it is a Dragon Shield) - https://www.oort.nz/dnd/wiki/kobold%20dragonshield.Kobold%20Dragon%20Shield.jpg Both of these were released in the Volo's Guide to Monsters
Cool! Thanks ^^ I already got the Dragon Shield Kobold in my reference folder, but I didn't know about that winged sorcerer :) I'll keep those for when I make more Kobolds ;)
a Kolbold dragon sorcerer and a kobold dragonscale would be great! they could be used as both the volo's guide statblocks and PC classes
I've researched the Kobold "Dragon sorcerers" and "Dragonscale" and wasn't able to find anything ^^ Do you have reference images of those things, or even text descriptions I can check out :)?
Oh. I was just linking to the picture. Didn't even see the page. It's homebrew. Not official content. The picture is of a Kobold Inventor: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.aidedd.org/dnd/monstres.php%3fvo=kobold-inventor
Also, what is a blood artificer?
Alright then :D Still, I feel the urge to put a scorpion at the end of his stick, now ^^. Also, there's some room underneath his back canister for a cage with a skunk tail sticking out, and the rest ^^ I read about blood artificers there. Just followed your link ^^ : https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-LvrY7BVQkgUTiRwIgX4 It'd be cool if I could somehow hint at the fact that the guy's blood is being pumped out and stored in the canister or something ^^
I think he will look great for a playable character artificer. The Eberron setting is pretty popular right now, which is higher tech, and there are a lot of signs that Spelljammer may come out in the near future, which is also higher tech. I don't think you should restart him or anything like that. It would also fit well into a setting like Ravnica.
This is great (like you said, Kobolds are a playable race!)! I would also love some more fun enemy Kobolds though. Too many are so plain! For example: https://images.app.goo.gl/qcAkgA2XAgJQbJtM8 Kobolds armed with that mightiest of mighty weapons, a scorpion-on-a-stick. Here are some bits from the stats for the Kobold inventor: Basket of Centipedes. The kobold throws a small basket into a 5-foot-square space within 20 feet of it. A swarm of insects (centipedes) with 11 hit points emerges from the basket and rolls initiative. At the end of each of the swarm’s turns, there’s a 50 percent chance that the swarm disperses. Rot Grub Pot. The kobold throws a clay pot into a 5-foot-square space within 20 feet of it, and it breaks open on impact. A swarm of rot grubs emerges from the shattered pot and remains a hazard in that square. Scorpion on a Stick. The kobold makes a melee attack with a scorpion tied to the end of a 5-foot-long pole. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1 piercing damage, and the target must make a DC 9 Constitution saving throw, taking 4 (1d8) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Skunk in a Cage. The kobold releases a skunk into an unoccupied space within 5 feet of it. The skunk has a walking speed of 20 feet, AC 10, 1 hit point, and no effective attacks. It rolls initiative and, on its turn, uses its action to spray musk at a random creature within 5 feet of it. The target must make a DC 9 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target retches and can’t take actions for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. A creature that doesn’t need to breathe or is immune to poison automatically succeeds on the saving throw. Once the skunk has sprayed its musk, it can’t do so again until it finishes a short or long rest. Wasp Nest in a Bag. The kobold throws a small bag into a 5-foot-square space within 20 feet of it. A swarm of insects (wasps) with 11 hit points emerges from the bag and rolls initiative. At the end of each of the swarm’s turns, there’s a 50 percent chance that the swarm disperses.
Since I read a little bit more about the "blood artificers", I'm wondering whether my current version of the artificer looks too high tech, with the goggles, coat, weaponized gauntlet and the rest? Yet again, there's only one illustration of the blood artificer out there...
By the way. ...how can I post images from here ?not possible? ??
No... there's the community section but nobody ever goes there (except me, obviously ^^). If you want to share an image, you can still paste the Url in a comment, though :)
Hi guys....I do vote for shaman Kobold as one option ....
I think these are great. There are already plenty of Kobold Mook miniatures around. Kobold PC's is another matter. Now wouldn't it be funny if the Kobold Artificer had a Gauntlet of Giant Strength haha.
I learn so much new English vocab here ^^ "Mook", huh? ^^ Ahah! I think Kobolds Miner and Trapmaker can be relevant for both PCs and NPCs, so I'll go there for now, but Kobolds are really fun and I'll definitely make more of them in the future! Plenty of concepts to explore with this creature ^^
If you want different what about a Kobold traveling merchant (Big backpack, with odds and ends hanging off), Could be interesting to weave this into an Underdark adventure or something of the sort.
Good idea, too! Damn, there are just so many possibilities with Kobolds and so little time to explore everything ^^
Bard...not nearly enough bards. Small horn (bugle maybe)
Or bagpipes ^^
Kobold Cleric? Maybe a heavy armor kobold?
Kobolds can have class levels too! #koboldlivesmatter
When I think of Kobolds, I think of low CR trash mobs. That's what I use them for. So, they would literally have tattered clothes, shovels? Pick axes? Not spell casters.
I perfectly understand and agree. The thing is Kobolds have recently become playable characters, if my sources are correct. Since I probably won't make a few dozen Kobolds, I figured making them stand out would be a good idea.
