Rococo Mirror - Quick Tutorial ^^

Hey folks! Started working on the scatter and mimic version for this month. Again, they shouldn't take too long to make, compared to a mini ^^ I'll resume my work on the next two Loxodons real soon ;)
I figured it'd be a good oppotunity to share basic workflows and introduce some of Zbrush tools and techniques :)

Hi @Jake Hutchings, I JUST saw this. I've found that there's a LOT of good stuff that's free on YouTube, but there's also a good number of paid stuff on like UDemy and stuff too. Not to discredit anyone who's working on making some money off of their work (we all gotta make a living somehow), but yeah, definitely check out some of those free ones. Different people have different ways of explaining the same stuff, or showing you what's going on and just do a better job. I lean a LOT more towards the printing side of things and while I would LOVE to learn to sculpt my own stuff, it'll probably be a while before I'm able to chunk down some real time to it, but that'll be the plan eventually.

Thanks again Manu; I'll check those out on my day off! :) With the money I've not wasted I'm closer to affording Z-brush Core; cheers!

That's fair enough! Back to Zbrush; not sure if you're aware of this already?: https://gumroad.com/caledoniaacademy - He has a KS going atm, where the course is $11 - to my noob eyes it looks like the $99 could be a good deal if he creates another course or 2. Thought it might be useful for @Dante Nava to consider. Could you give us your professional opinion on whether it's worthwhile for beginners or if there are other resources you'd recommend?... I know I'd be interested in learning from yourself if/when you're ready to branch out! ;)

I will branch out at some point this year ^^' Just need to take a month off my Patreon and I'll start producing the videos ;) I'm pretty sure a Zbrush beginner course can be found on Youtube at this point. Just a little digging gave me this ;) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMJFPXZnepE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yKGfcp2z3k Hopefully, my own course will be divided in three segments : Zbrush Basics to learn stuff from basic geometry generation to STL export Zbrush Intermediate to learn about the more advanced tools and techniques. Zbrush Advanced focused more on sculpting itself. Anatomy/Design/Composition So idk. I'd say try the free stuff first and explore ;)

Thanks man! I'm mainly a miniature painter when it comes to artistic expression so it really helps knowing which manufacturers are the go-to for your side of the art world. Speaking of which have you thought of doing painting contests for your minis? Ahh, the Nokia 3310, that takes me back; high praise indeed! :)

I have so many plans for the future of this Patreon I might as well keep them to myself and focus on the STLs production for now, ahah ^^ Don't wanna get too scatterbrained, y'know ;) But yeah, painting contests is something I've been considering, among other things :)

Great to see this sort of post from you Manu; thanks! Looking forward to trying out Sculptris thanks to your tip; what sort of hardware do you use when sculpting?

You're welcome buddy ;) Happy to share ^^ You don't need fancy equipment for digital sculpting. I personally use a simple Wacom Bamboo (CTL-460) tablet such as this one : https://www.ebay.com/itm/Wacom-CTL460-Bamboo-Pen-Tablet/254481626045

Does this type of technique also work in Blender or Fusion 360?

M

I don't use Blender myself but I know it was improved tremendously over the past decade. It's become as powerful and user-friendly as any other 3d package and I wouldn't be surprised if it could do that. No idea how, though ^^ Fusion may be able to achieve similar results, but I never really got into it so I can't really tell. I know Zbrush inside and out, and know how to use 3dsMax and Maya for the modeling/Uvs/texture baking parts, and that's about it ^^
