I just had to show it around here ^^
This is the reason why I think making 3D art for printing is so much cooler than for video games, animation and VFX. You get to make models that people print, modify, paint, manipulate and play with.
Daniel Herrero from 3D Printed Tabletop made a great video on digital kitbashing using one of the Owlbears I made for his Lost Adventures Kickstarter Campaign. The prints are super clean and the paintjob is really not shabby :)
I just need to see more pictures like this ^^

Last post, this was what drove me to try the water bath while curing. From an article on UV Resins. "Curing in a water bath can help increase surface hardness. It works because water contains considerably less free-roaming oxygen than air does. Air contains about 20% oxygen, but water contains less than 1% dissolved oxygen. Oxygen can inhibit radical polymerization of UV curing resins, leaving parts feeling tacky to the touch. Water does absorb UV light, the absorption is not significant at the wavelengths used to cure UV resin. So you don’t have to add much exposure time if you cure your parts in a shallow tank of water. There are really no “cons” to curing in a water bath, other than getting your parts wet and require drying. You should give it a try and see if it improves the surface hardness of the parts you’re printing."
I will be running the Photon on a workbench in my garage. I wonder if you could run a hose from the photon out of a partially opened window. Sorta like a clothes dryer via hose goes to the vent. Lol I made my own finishing kit with OXO Good Grips Produce savers. They have internal strainer baskets. One for the alcohol bath and other with fresh water. I live in Texas so I will UV the prints in the water bath under the sun light.
You could probably run a hose out of an open window. I've seen pictures of that kind of settings online, but I'd much rather do it outdoors ^^ For cleaning, I'll get a Ultrasonic cleaner and some powerful Mr. Clean. From what I've seen and read, it works much better than IPA. As for curing, I'll make a simple curing chamber with an old paint bucket and UV LED strips ^^
I did. Very nice work. I also picked up an Anycubic i3 Mega S for printing scenery. Unfortunately due to work I have not had a chance to open either one yet and start playing. Grrrr
Ahah ^^ Yeah, well, I've had the Photon for a week now, but it is at my parents' place since my apartment is poorly ventilated and I don't want to use those products indoors, so it's pretty frustrating on my side too ^^ I've already made quite a few models and still haven't held any of those in my hands ^^ All I've seen is pictures.
Ha! I am not the only one then. I bought a Photon last week after finding the Lost Adventures Kickstarter. I am a painter by hobby trade and am totally new to this 3d printing.
Yeah, 3d printing is getting more and more popular as quality increases and prices go down. So a lot of people are new to this hobby, including myself. Did you get the files for the Lost Adventures Kickstarter yet?
I've had a Photon for a little over a year. But the Epax1 is probably the best entry level resin printer now. It's the same electronics as the photon-mars-other printers in the price range, but with a linear rail for the Z axis (no more worries about z wobble), and a led array for better, and more powerful light distribution.
Well, ordered a Photon yesterday so too late for an Epax1 but it should be more than enough. The Photon still gets massive praise and I am always impressed by the results :)
Backed the kickstarter. Can't wait to get the files.
Hey Wil, how's it going? :) Can't wait to more prints of my models, Patreon models or not :) Those Owlbears were a great training. Thank you for your feedbacks on my models, by the way. I think I am making progress on the detailing side of things and I'm trying to make it my new standard. Definitely considering getting a resin printer soon to showcase my own models and paint them. Any recommendations?
