HR Poll: Which Teleportation do you want?
Hello everyone,
We're approaching the arc's turning point, and the next one will focus on acquiring a Tier VIII Teleportation ability ;) though as always, I'm offering multiple paths to it. As always, the poll will end when the current arc does.
1) The Five Sovereigns: Determined to refine and master his existing gifts now that his leveling has slowed down, Simon decides to spend a reign practicing while forming eidolon pacts. As he goes on a world tour stretching to Fablan, Uyo, and many other places, Simon realizes the greatest threat to his sanity might not be his enemies, but the unruly brat tagging along…
Includes: Conjuration-based teleport, a big world tour with Belzemine, a Norbelle Summoner mentorship (to Simon’s chagrin), advanced Eidolon/summoning applications, first close look at various locations across the world, potential new eidolons, location of all five sovereigns.
Unlocks: N/A.
2) The Book of the Damned: Investigating a way to master a way to teleport around the world, Simon decides to put his new Perks to use and create a Grimoire capable of doing just that. Unfortunately, not only does creating a dark book of abyssal knowledge take time, commitment, and effort, but Simon is about to discover he’s walking into his predecessors' bloody footsteps…
Includes: Libromancy-based teleport, a deep dive into Libromancy and early crafting forays, a reign-long dark Grimoire’s creation, Biographer project research, a terrible Magnos family secret, and intel on a certain Abyssal Chronicle’s location.
Unlocks: The Magnos Legacy, ???.
3) Simon the Archmage: Seeking to master teleportation and acquire greater spellcasting power, Simon moves to Cocagne and approaches Remedia again with an offer: Libromancy secrets in return for her help in developing a miasmic teleport spell. As the Overlord and the Mage resume their affair and work together to gaze into the abyss of magic, Simon realizes that happiness always comes at a cost…
Includes: Diabolism-based teleportation and interplanar travel unlock, Simon and Remedia long-term romance (with a big surprise), multiple tier VII and Tier VIII spells, Phoenix-related events, Noble Crestones potential acquisition, a good and bitter taste of the Zodiac Parade.

Well I do see one upside about Sovereigns starting to pull ahead, at least we’ll get the boring eidolon stuff out of the way for future polls. Hopefully the world tour lays some nice seeds for future reigns

Random unrelated thought So I’m pulling a heist on the system. Here’s the plan: 1. gather every available person with merchant vassal levels 2. have the current merchant transfer all xp to one of them then they convert vassal into noble xp 3. then repeat as many times as possible accumulating xp as you go 4. Profit (or have the super high level merchant transfer it all to simon so he can either get a high level op perk, surly the merchant has some, or upgrade inventory like he did with the party system)

I very much like Archmage... Except the romance. I don't think that it is good at all to go back to a previous romance. It just feels wrong, Simon would be manipulating someone with the knowledge that they'd fall for him.
I could see Simon be devastated from Elsa relationship and thus look for a rebound in Remedia
Going from Elsa romance to Remedia's romance (maybe with children) would feel really weird for the story
For those voting archmage - remember, "massive spoilers" are unlikely to go away, as is something like interplanar travel - we will get this reign later, with all the goodies, so nothing is lost! And story wise, after the last reign with the heartbreak over Lauriane another heartbreak over a lost child (the likely spoiler) is the last thing Simon needs! Go out and vote Five Sovereigns! And MILF cult enjoyers, MILFs only get better with age, no need to rush it!

I'm more interested in the MASSIVE SPOILERS that are potentially unlocked from the archmage reign tbh Simon can travel the world with Norbelle AFTER he's mastered magic and can teleport freely. Besides norbelle is conveniently in there to court the prince (unwillingly) anyway, so it's not like Simon will be locked out of learning some visionary tricks during the archimage run

Norbelle is reliably the character whose interactions with Simon I enjoy the most. I really want a reign where he spends more time with her. Also, Sovereign has been ignored far too many times. I really think this is the righg time to pursue it.
The main problem of course is the fact she might pick up on the Reigns. Or make a Dark Eidolon Pact that'll carry over to the next Reign.

it obviously rushes the end of the story forward a lot tho. Like Simon cant have a fun and colourful world tour catching eidolons when he just experienced losing a child that he is obviously gonna have with Remidia the archamge reign. Not to mention the big spoiler will push the urgency ahead a lot.
guys we can always do the Archmage cocagne reign later on. If we do the archmage now the plot pushes forward too much at once and we cant get the other reigns anymore. We should let the next one be a more mild training and lore and worldbuilding arc
HEAR ME OUT, i love 5 sovreigns and it seems insane BUT simon is having an aneurysm each time he invokes an eidolon for more than 3 miliseconds because he alway does other things in the same time that also unse miasma ( spells, another eidolon,archfiend form,syncretic eidolons, buffs etc...). He NEEDS archmage in order to improve miasma and efficiency to fight AND use eidolons for more than 3s XD
That doesn't make much sense. If Simon can't use Eidolons and other stuff the logical answer is for Simon to get better at handling Eidolons not magic. Because the problem is very clearly in the Eidolon side

You know, even if it's kinda obvious that Void wants to implement the archmage reign, with how much he put it as an option, it's one reign I will never vote. Don't get me wrong, I like Remedia, she's a lovely character and Simon is a mage before he's a summoner or an adventurer, so they would make a great synergy. What rubs me wrong, it's that she's a married woman and in order to pursue a relationship with Simon, she would cheat on her husband. I mean, if Remedia divorced her husband and then started a relationship with Simon, I would vote for the archmage immediately, but it's clearly going to be an affair. Yeah, I may be a little of an hypocrite, I like harem novels but I hate NTR ones, no matter what kind, but archmage is a no for me.

Well Void, I can confidently say that I’m frustrated. You just have this uncanny ability to make it impossible to choose which reign I want next. I don’t suppose all 3 at once is an option? Regardless, the story has been amazing so far. For every reign that I think “this is my favorite reign,” you surprise me by making the next one even better. Keep up the great work!
Just a prediction but Simon’s going to have a kid with remedia and he’s going to go apeshit after this reign since the kid would be perma dead and he can’t cope with the perma death due to the nature of time loop.
1 and 3 both tempting, planar travel especially is a fun door to open for shenanigans. Norbelle getting a bit of screen time and eidolons sounds good too. Pacts with the sovereigns would be huge too. 🤔🤔🤔

My heart and soul say Remediapreg arc best arc, but Eidolon World Brat Tour sounds so fun. I almost voted for the terrible secrets of Elios Magnos but I want to keep that for later.
IMHO All options are equally tempting, though the moment I saw Norbelle I thought the winner already clear. It seems I was wrong and the promise of massive spoilers prevails. Or The Milf Cult.
Archmage makes more sense. It is the most obvious way to learn teleport, something Simon has wanted for a few reigns (libromancy tp is a weird thing to try first). Plus we can talk with Norbelle and learn more about eidolons. She can tell us their power/location etc (we don’t know if we are strong enough for all five sovereigns. Libromancy study with Remedia is a good intro to the field as well.
A argument someone on the discord presented was that Simon already has the Overlord Call as a Diabloism Spell and Perk. The other two give more unique options.

I have had a pet theory for awhile that having kids moves the start point of the reigns forward, cant help but wondering if that is the massive spoilers in question.
Chat quick question have we seen the Beast Crestone perks? 2nd question my memory isn’t the best is the monk Crestone a vassal to the warrior or a noble Crestone. I’m just curious what’s the next Crestone he will try to devour that isn’t the librarian or oracle which I believe he will have to pick between for the final slot. If I had to guess the former overlords would’ve wanted the oracle. I’m betting he will go after Librarian.
Yes we've seen the Beast's Perks. Edit: chapter 188 if you wish to review them. The Monk is a Noble Crestone not a Vassal to the Warrior.

Meta wise, Five sovereigns and book of the dammed are likely to be revisited later ( need the sovereigns for the abyssal gates and the Book for chronicles) while it doesn't seem like the arch mage will have anything to offer if Simon already has teleport from other means. So to not loose paths archmage is better. But story wise... Loosing a lover will be a massive loss, and it would be weird to return to a former lover after that, so the other two make more sense. And since we all love Norbelle, Five sovereigns it is
I disagree. Losing Eole could drive him into the arms of Remedia.
3 arcs I want to see in order after the archmage arc: 1. Monk training montage. I would like him to learn more techniques far more techniques. 2. Sovereigns arc. So far the summons has been kinda disappointing. Earlier in the story when his sister use them they felt more impactful. 3. A romance with the dragon and conquering all dragons for their treasure to show he is a worthy mate lol. Then a look through the chest.
I mean, you can't exactly expect Simon's performance with summons to be on par with the summoner class. I also assume regular summons can be summoned without being above their lvel, given they don't automatically go berserk. But yeah Simon hardly being able to keep up 2 summons despite taking the summoner perk specifically for that kind of sucks.
Norbelle is hands down my favorite character. chaotic gremlin all the way!

I feel like 5 sovereigns into arch mage is the best route 5S feels like the last necessary early game path to go I feel like Simon and remedia will have a kid so it’s best to be as strong as possible if he wants to protect his new family

All three are good 1.Five Sovereigns is good, Norbelle interactions always welcome and developing dark visionary abilities is pretty useful combined with new eidolons but conjuration based teleportation is sound the weakest. Another point is travelling around world this both good and bad, good because new secrets to learn and better knowing your enemy, bad because Simon delaying the inevitable and that is he has to change in personality and mindset if he wants to survive against his enemies. 2.The Book of the Damned is the best option in my opinion. First is Libromancy based teleportation sound like is the most useful. Second is grimoire creation which is add a new combat and utility to Simon’s ever expanding arsenal. Third is other miscellaneous benefits such as crafting, Abyssal Chronicle location, Biographer class, … . Only bad part is offers little character interaction. 3.Archmage is very good the only thing i didnt choose because offers Diabolism based teleportation other than it is very good thing is in involved Remedia romance, deep dive into spells and problaly Ranger class. But it is doesnt offer much as second option and it always felt weird to romance jump to jump. So my vote is second option.

I voted for book of the damned because it was the only option that seemed to use his new crafting perk. Simon talked about how great it was, but he hasn't actually built anything with it yet. It seems silly to work so hard for it, just to immediately set it aside for eidolons or magic.
Ha, I knew before voting that Simon the Archmage was going to win this by a mile. I will admit that it seems strategically the best since it unlocks interplanar travel and none of the other teleports do. But damnit, I really want the Five Sovereigns. It's been what, seven Reigns since he used Devour Crestone on the Summoner? More? And Simon is still just ambling along, stumbling across the occasional Eidolon. We need something to really make that use of a Devour slot shine. More summons, more fusions, more Norbelle. Hopefully one day.

Honestly, while the unlocks of both of the other options seem very very interesting, I really really think The Five Sovereigns reign will be so much fun, and a conjuration-based teleport also seem interesting, especially as Simon is a Dark Visionary, not a normal one. Also, I suspect if we go Archmage route, there's a chance the Five Sovereigns one will disappear (or at least mutate), as it already has no unlocks left, and the Phoenix will probably get contracted in Archmage, and I want to see more of Norbelle, which there might be a very limited chances for outside The Five Sovereigns
There's still the journey to do; Eidolon training as well as hunt new ones down all over the world.

I feel like the overarching plot has stalled quite a bit. We really haven't learned anything fundamental about what's actually happening in quite some time. Mostly Simon has just been hitting his head against a wall over and over in various gruesome ways. So, I'm voting for Archmage because it unlocks massive spoilers, which I'm hoping will lead to real plot progression. It's time. Plus, Remedia is a cool character.
Really an old romance right after the one just failed it is much better to go on a world tour for a change of pace and we just got crafter perk much better than magic attainment
If we vote for #1 we will eventually get #3 as well (and maybe 2). But, if we don't get #1 now, we may never get it. #2-3 feel like they will accelerate the end of the book while #1 feels like a nice joyride. It it going to be business or pleasure? We should vote for #1!

Although the poll seems pretty decided, I'd like to point out that Sovereigns with the brat stitches much better into Simons disappointment with Eole and the reign with Elsa. Lovey Dovey long term romance seems like a jarring break in where his mind is atm, I'd rather prefer a gradual shift through someone insane, but not as far removed as the Cobweb.

That being said we should for sure put some emphasis on Sovereigns, as we are entering level range where we can tame them and, eventually, fuse them. For sure something to consider for future reigns.
If it doesn’t win now (it doesn’t seem to be likely), it will for sure going to be the best option for the next reign. In the Archmage we are also going to be exposed to one of the Sovereigns, the Phoenix, and to Norbelle. So it is definitely going to be a logical continuation

Interplanar travel is extremely tempting but I want to see the rest of the world. Simon has been spending too much time retracing his steps. Any information he learns about the other countries will help him when he decides to rule openly. I am curious what the MASSIVE SPOILER could be but it can wait, Simon needs to shore up his weakest skills.
His weakest skill right now is that he has access to tier 8 spells and doesn't know any. To get the most out of Sovereigns he needs to be able to defeat the Sovereigns.

Yup. Welcome to the depressed club. But at least we got to see a couple new ones this Reign. But I'm gonna be annoyed if we miss out on the Crown of Predation when the Parade's. Right. There! Hell, if we're lucky though, Maybe the two new additions can be combined. They both share the Demon typing now, and the previous combination had the artificial typing. I don't think that's coincidence.
I'm so curious about the parts of the world we haven't explored with five sovereigns, but people want to repeat loops we already know because we are more attached to those characters already. But every favorite location and character was once an unexplored option, please give new things a chance :(

Bros and gals, let's go for the sovereigns, Simon needs to be able to follow "hit it till it dies" tactics in case of emergency when magic and everything else doesn't work, and sovereigns reign would give exactly that.
Hell, the best thing to come from Sovereigns would being able to actually maintain his Dark Eidolons while using an intensive Miasma Perk.

I’ll just choose the archmage because I want to see mommy remedia again and because that horrible secret from the magnos family will most likely be that our favorite scheming demon is their ancestor. Which idk is pretty fitting. Half the family is crazy and unhinged even if it was almost all due to Balzam.

After the last chapter indicating just how badly Simon’s previous romances go given how much he’s changed, I can’t wait to see just how much he’s messes up with the Archmage reign
Oh I am certain romance will bloom. Void wouldn’t have included it otherwise. What I am truly interested in is the big surprise. Right now I am conflicted between a glimpse of the true workings of the reigns or an unexpected child. We already know remedia opinion on that matter and void already said we would watch the Zodiac’s parade, so that makes me think that the inevitable apocalypse will only help fuel her choice.
