New HR Loop Poll: Relief or Torment?
Heya again,
Welcome to the new HR poll ;) the current arc has chapters left in the tank but the ending may slightly change depending on your choice so I'm posting the poll now (if you haven't ready today's chapter, I would check that one first considering the events there). As always, the poll will end with the last Vouivre Delenda Est chapter.

Nooooo llegué muy tarde a la encuesta!!!!! En verdad deseaba un Simon bardo jajajaja pero incluso si votaba no lograría cambiar nada, esa crestone de aventurero nos espera!!!!
While simon is off in the sky he should get to know the adventurer well, so in future reigns he can team up with her to explore the chest of worlds. Her class and personality are perfect for this and many other things like infiltrating the crafter's tower or trying to rob a lich.
It’s sad that Song of Bujan got so few votes. Out of all the options, it seems the most narratively interesting. Most of the votes seem to be split on whether Simon should chill or suffer, neither of which actually grows his character. Sony of Bujan would’ve focused on Simon finally getting a hobby. The only semi-hobby he has is spell making, which is also part of his job. And the hobby (Opera and music) combines with his love for spells, growing and expanding his miasma spell repertoire, giving him something distinguished from all his other more general spells, which, though powerful, are mostly simple in concept elemental spells or status effects (e.g., hell thunder, petrify, slow, etc.) that he learned from others. And most importantly, it hits on the core thing people want explored, which is literally included at the end of the description: “Simon faces much needed introspection and a question he had been avoiding for a while: what does he wish to do with his life?” I really implore people to vote for this for the next reign.
Poll's done. Simon needs to take a long break from the Magnos family.
The Santuary Then RIP Casaval
Simon needs a break in the sky
I came back to check the polls and . . . oof, it seems the Hoard is out for now. But I will continue to vote for more chances for Simon to suf¬¬¬¬—I mean develop character or something. Regardless, I came back to put down my thoughts on the reigns and then throw out a few crack reign ideas. 1. The Sanctuary in the Sky: Not my first or second choice, but it would be nice to finally get a “front row seat to the Zodiac Parade”. We’ve seen glimpses of it, but haven’t gotten far enough yet to see the parade itself. I'm still sad that the "future" reign wasn't chosen in an earlier poll. 2. Kingmaker: Oddly enough, probably my last choice. While I love the romance between Simon and Anna, I think we need a few dozen more reigns before Simon can just shrug off the death of a loved one (especially one inadvertently caused by him) and try to romance them in the next reign. Even then I’m sure that even without a soul wound at the start of a reign, Anna would still notice that something’s off with Simon. Funnily enough, I think this would make it harder for him to juggle their relationship, the NDA with his class, and his attempt at a peaceful reign. 3. The Song of Bujan: Void is just absolutely determined to get an opera reign at some point and I love it. If this shows up in the next poll, I promise to vote for it. However, for now I must vote for Simon’s continual suf—growth and character development. 4. The Crafter’s Tower: At first, this reign just looks like it came out of left field. However, after Simon gained “Devil Forgemaster V” I can see why it’s included, and it would be my first choice if the Hoard wasn’t an option. Gaining recipes for golems and airships, but also a mentor that I’m 100% sure would be the Crafter, would set him up perfectly to practice and refine them during a chill reign. It’s a pity to see it ranking dead last, but I have hope that it’ll return in the future. 5. The Hoard of Gargauth: My first choice, as I see it as the perfect crash out after betraying or (inadvertently) killing a lot of people he cares about. This reign being brutally short would just perfectly portray Simon’s attempts at (quiet literally) bashing his head against a brick wall as he takes on something he’s entirely unprepared for (level wise but also mentally). Although, I have to say it’s interesting that the “Book of the Damned” shows up for both this and #2. My bet is that it’s connected to Elios Magnos or his Librarian class. Now time for my crack reign ideas. A. The Baker: After coming to a cold realization, Simon figures out another way to save the world from complete ruin. He must become the greatest baker in all of Endymion. What follows is copious amounts of baking with soul infused equipment and liberal use of dreamshade to make up the difference. His skills? Questionable. His pastries? Addictive. His reign as the greatest baker to ever grace this mortal plane? Inevitable. (Probably the most "crack" reign idea as it entirely revolves around Simon baking goods with questionable quality with even more questionable methods) B. Family Reunion: With Simon locating the last Zodiac Fiend, he now has to contend with a threat he can no longer ignore. The Oracle. While he has dealt with the plot in Endymion, the Oracle has proven to have far more agents and plots than Simon anticipated. With no desire to waste reigns putting down every scheme the Oracle has prepared, Simon decides on an equally bold and insane idea. He will gather hosts for every Zodiac, bind them & the Fiends through rituals and brands, and use them to spearhead an assault on the elven homeland in hopes of finding a way to stop the Oracle for good. What follows is a humorous, and somewhat successful, attempt by Simon to make all of the Zodiac Fiends work together like one big family to take down that blasted Oracle. (A "family drama" centered around the Zodiac Fiends + Simon. Mainly following Simon's attempts to understand more about the Fiends while trying and failing to convince them that he isn't Mardok) C. An Escape: The failure of the previous reign had nearly broken Simon’s resolve. The sacrifices he made, and the price his retainers & friends paid for him all culminating in a pointless waste due to his own actions has left him sick. No longer able to stomach the sight of his family, his friends, his servants, or even his own Class, Simon runs. He runs from the castle, from Endymion, from the inevitable civil war, from the apocalyptic Zodiac Parade, from the schemes and backstabbing and betrayals. He runs from his failures. Commandeering a ship, Simon sets sail away from the continent. What follows is the story of the man underneath the mantle of Overlord, and a peek at a life he would have lived without it. (Simon forsakes the mantle of Overlord for one reign, and we follow him for the journey)
I vote for Sanctuary. Not because I care about the story, but because I'm more curious about the Sky Island, or more specifically about Eole and Bellzemine, than about Voivre and Casval. In my opinion, the best reing to proceed is Kingmaker, it should have been the one after the Overlord of Crime. Kingmaker should be a revelation for Simon, that even if the time rewinds, his time goes on, that he'll change inevitably into something unrecognisable to the world, and that his actions, while very meaningful for himself, are meaningless for the world until the last reing. Kingmaker would probably were Simon would better understand Balzam's actions and his character. In this reing, Simon would understand better Gargauth, because this reing is all about too much greed and the consequences behind it. By going for the Hoard, it means he didn't learn anything about the reing.
Death Star and Droid Army shiny with the Hoard reign.
Patience, young Padawan... you're not ready to "take" that power yet.
The last chapter showed us a very nice cannon... too bad it's at the bottom of the chest, and guarded by defenders who even badly wounded Vouivre... and don't think a silent infiltration will work... I'm sure that chest detects you even if you're outside... The sanctuary remains the best option
Hoard seems both bad from a character perspective and bad from a munchkin perspective. He has been repeatedly realizing this reign that he needs to do something more humanizing and just blowing that off seems weird, the hoard will still be there the next reign or in ten reigns and a few reigns from now he'll be strong enough to die fewer times and waste fewer reigns getting it. The nice thing about a time loop is that you have lots of time to get your head straight so you don't become someone you hate or waste your one limited resource like an idiot.
I think I'd prefer him to waste MORE reigns on the hoard for the story. I think it works perfectly as just that last breaking point. He's spent months doing nothing but atrocities in order to gather power. He knows he needs a break. But the hoard is his last attempt to try rationalise all of the sacrifices and if he can break through the hoard, then he might just be able to convince himself to keep pushing forward despite it all. Which is a perfect place for the hoard to completely brick wall him and shut down that train of thought.
Crafter arcs would be awesome a little more down the line. Kish and Hoard make more immediate sense.
Crafter's Tower and Bujan feels like too big a shift and doesn't fit the story's current flow. Same with Kingmaker, I genuinely don't believe Simon would be willing to face Anna right now after this reign. That leaves Hoard and Sanctuary. Given Simon's mental state, I think he'll want to keep pressing toward his goal rather than step back and rest. He's still rationalizing his choices to himself, still not ready to stop. Voting Hoard.
Exactly! I think the hoard will be the straw that breaks the camel's back as the saying goes. Simon needs to have a realization of his limits.
Fwiw I have switched to Sanctuary; Bujan is my preferred form of relief but I will go with the relief that has a chance of winning :)
Thank you for your support, Simon is tired.
Song of Bujan sounds like the most therapeutic reign. Simon deserves a break. But if not that, Sanctuary sounds like a good break as well. Just not the Hoard...
Kingmaker feels just right on the scale of Simon trying to heal and make up for his actions while still being him going about it the wrong way. Character growth babyy
I'd like to turn your attention to the fact that Void said in the comments Kingmaker is a path in the Torment category.
Please give him some relief... Being changed is ok. Thalas redemption arc is coming, but killing Anna is not to be thriffled With ... For him to destroy the overlord, Simon must come back to his sense and not be completely anesthesied ... Maybe it was his father changes too from sadist to the worst scum on this world.
Song of Bujan, based on the description, should be dropped entirely. Dunno if you’re just super into theater/opera lately but it seems lame and almost like filler
Har disagree there with you mate. id like it way more if Simon concentrates on Performenses than martial techniks.
Narratively speaking, I think Simon should cap off this arc of his character with the brutally short Hoard Reign.... and THEN take that much needed vacation to the Kish Island
That doesn’t seem like it would fit well. It would mean he had to take a break after failing in the dungeon but not after everything that happened this reign. It diminishes the losses from this reign. Also there is no guarantee sky sanctuary will be offered next time.
I think we should pick hoard because it's a better transition point. This arc is dark, but Simon still basically succeeds in achieveing everything he needs to. I think the vacation arc will be better going from the hoard, a point of complete failure that totally bricks Simon's progress and forces him to a halt. Better for Simon to think about whether the sacrifices are worth it or not from something that completely stops him despite all the sacrifices last reign, rather than the current one where it could still be argued that the knowledge obtained was worth sacrificing everyone.
If the failure is his lack of ability to progress through the dungeon, rather than the losses of this reign, then it will make it seem like Simon cares more about his insufficient personal power than he does about the people he claims to care about.
Sanctuary gets the best chance at exp boost, and also lets us FINALLY see the parade through and possibly plan for what happens during/after. For a while I’ve wondered if his father died during every parade or not, if he did then not even being high level will suffice alone and we need to take those lessons to future reigns
Yeah, but wouldn't it be better after the hoard of gargauth? Since it's extremely short anyway, I think it should be done before any other longer arc
Damn 3%, I always pick the least popular one… I like crafters tower. It sounds like if chosen, Simon would get enough information in THIS chapter to skip the suicide run that likely leads to the same journey. Plus a mentor is much needed. Sanctuary seems like giving up rn. I think he should push though this, but still take time to regroup. If he redoes this dragon path right after it blows it up so badly, it feels like it would be a waste. This next chapter shapes the end of current one, I think that should be our focus. Do we want a Simon with a solid plan to get extra intel, a depressed simon that needs to run away from everything, or a half crazed Simon who’s got tunnel vision on this treasure, ready to use a reign on a short run he can do later when he’s much stronger.
Void right now 🪑🍿🫢
Absolutely, he enjoys it a lot.
The Sanctuary is best done as soon as possible now that Simon is at a respectable level. The Adventurer is by far his best chance at an xp boost, which will be relevant for the entire rest of the reigns. The Hoard can wait. It will be relevant even into the final riegn itself, depending on the contents. Sanctuary is worth less every time he puts it off.
The Hoard will take more than one reign to complete so it's better to start early
There are three types of people in this thread: * What Simon *should* do, * What Simon *would* do, * And those of you who spontaneously break out into dance numbers when stressed (love y’all) 💃🕺 Should he go process on Sanctuary? Yeah, probably. Would he? Nah, I don’t think so. Imagine sacrificing your lover and your empire for knowledge and power to make a difference in the future. Right before you find out if it was worth it, you back out and run away? My take? Simon is trapped in a pattern of self-justified escalation: every sacrifice buys him permission to go further, not to stop. Simon constantly trades who he is for the power to get what he wants later, for better or worse. I think if he’s distraught over Anna and who he’s become, he would push one last time, praying it was all worth it, hence the Hoard. The only way he takes a step back is if the door gets slammed in his face. I hope he’s humbled by the Hoard, returns way down the road a better man, and hopefully with a team to tackle it. There are plenty of other long-term obstacles he’s working toward just the same. Simon probably can’t back out at this point, not just because of ambition, but because backing out would force him to admit all the loss (Anna especially) might have been meaningless. That’s a heavier psychological barrier than just stubbornness. So pushing forward isn’t just about power, it’s about avoiding that realization. If he wins → it validates everything (dangerous outcome for his character) If he loses → it forces the reckoning you’re hoping for EITHER WAY, Void will make it great. I just think one is the better prescription and one is the better story 🤷🏻♂️
“Simon doesn’t turn back because turning back would mean everything he sacrificed Anna, his empire, himself, was for nothing. So he doubles down, and the only thing that can stop him now is failure.”
Song of Bujan seems fun, it would be awesome to see Bard Simon
It would be fun with all the minions in dance numbers😂 maybe a musical troupe to infiltrate the elves?
What Simon has always needed, from the start, was to SIT THE FUCK DOWN and plan his reigns. He has been jumping and struggling, gathering puzzle pieces, meeting personalities, solving how to deal with opponents. But he never actually sat down and began to put together a coherent plan. To me it's no surprise he's breaking down. It was long overdue. He has time travel, but it just doesn't occur to him to act strategically. He wants to win everything at once as if it was the final reign, when he doesn't even know what he wants at the end. No, the Hoard wouldn't help. It's just another puzzle piece he'll have to juggle with no purpose. I'm voting Sanctuary for him to start planning shit instead of being constantly surprised when events blow up in his face.
You really get it, bro!
For all the long time Void fans I have but one thing to sway your vote. 🐉 FOR THE HOARD 💰
He can’t get to the Hoard now. The description says he will fail and have to try again another reign multiple times.
Did you see today's chapter? Simon is exhausted and broken inside... do you think that kind of person can beat a super dangerous dungeon? And by the way, if we were going to win the Gargauth Chronicle, I'd consider it... but it only mentions a weapons cache... what a waste! It's time to rest. We're going down a roller coaster from the Stone Muse. It's time for Simon to find some happiness.
The hoard one just seems too fun to pass up. The sanctuary will still be there later. Let Simon step on a few landmines before he goes on vacation.
We don’t know if the sanctuary will be available after the hoard. I personally think it won’t be because it would diminish the losses from this reign to take a break on the one afterwards.
$!Money!$
Slice of life is an abomination--it's uneventful fluff and stagnation. Please, no.
We need some reigns like that so Simon can focus on his magic.
Man I'm never gonna Get Bard simon am i.
Would be pretty f’d, and disturbing, if after all he’s done to get the location of the hoard, all those terrible things, he the ignored that knowledge just to ask Eole to take him away for a vacation. Especially after he used her _face_ for the entire reign as the symbol of slavery. A good, hard defeat by the dungeon would be just the thing to crash him to a halt after everything and _then_ try to put himself back together to see what he likes and dislikes about how he’s been doing things. To he decide if it’s all truly worth it or if he needs to set hard boundaries in the future (which I doubt, but at least he’ll know how to manage his own feelings about it better).
If the crash out comes after he isn’t strong enough it will make it seem like Simon cares more about that than all the stuff that has happened this reign. If we don’t take a break now we never will.
Also surely talking to the adventurer would be useful before delving the one of the most dangerous dungeons on the planet.
Not as useful as what he would get after a looksie inside the Dungeon first
I hope Simon doesn’t do the hoard next specifically so Void can show that the sacrifices this reign actually meant something to Simon and he took a step back because of them, rather than him just keeping on going.
Hoard for the win come on. It'll make the vacation more satisfying after going through all this nonsense this reign, finally reaching the hoard, and then just getting blasted to hell and back by traps before finally cracking and realising that he needs a break. I much prefer that as the transition into the vacation arc. Were only going to get this one chance for an in depth vacation arc, cause it doesn't make sense to have more than one or a second one near the end of the story. Might as well make it count.
Also it just doesn't make sense to leave the hoard now. "Oh wow I just destroyed my entire empire to figure out this hoards location. No I'm not going to even survey it a little, imma do that later". It just doesn't seem like a Simon thing to do for the current reign choices we've made since we've already built him up as fairly proactive. Also we have 100 reigns. So far, every single thing has taken Simon like, 1 reign to achieve. So I think it's alright to have something finally take multiple. Something for Simon to go in, get bulldozed, and realise he ain't built for this rn and to put on the back burner. Also think it's just an overall net positive for the pacing right now. Some people keep calling it a 'waste' and I really just don't see it that way.
It is wild that kingmaker give you access to libromancy and it is not picked sigh. Losing multiple reign on the hoard wouldn't be a big loss though hmm.
Kingmaker is the one that would hurt Simon the most.
No way am I sending Simon on another difficult reign without R&R. We’ve done this before already. He needs a break. I do not enjoy reading truly evil Simon.
I hope he never becomes as evil as some of the comments are requesting.
COME ON GUYS! Go for the last! We don’t want the Kish romance! Friendship yes!
It says friendship on the sanctuary path.
POWER!!!! ULTIMATE POWWWWWEEEEERRRRRRRR!!!!!! Edit: I chose the Hoard for a quick and dirty power up. THEN we can move on to some R&R Edit: Yeah, after reading the last two chapters, I changed my vote to Sanctuary.
He isn’t going to get anything from the horde it says it will take several reigns to actually get the treasure.
Most people are saying Simon needs to pick the hoard to validate his choices in this run but, I think it’s the opposite. Simon should go after the hoard to try and validate his choices, only to get crushed and realize he made the wrong choice. Then he gets that introspection reign. Feels bad saying it but I think it’s what he needs
We don’t need to waste a reign before doing introspection. Though we do need that. Also if Simon not being strong enough is why he steps back it will devalue the losses at the end of this reign.
Bujan for the win! Let him rest with strangers for once
Eole stans rise up!
I hope that the Sanctuary end with Simon doubling down. Simon need to steel his resolve and a peaceful reign where he see that he is a necessary evil is the most interesting option for his caracter developpement instead of regressing back to a good guy.
Him being a good guy who has to use bad methods is one of the most interesting things about the story. If he just becomes a bad guy the story would be so much worse.
Let Simon go FULL demon. No “let’s explore the world” arc right now. That can wait. I want chaos. I want him going deeper, doing worse, actually convincing himself this is the right path. No brakes. Then later, when he’s completely gone, that’s when you hit us with the “wake up” arc. Send him to Paradise Island with elo. She’s the only one who actually knows the real him, from before everything changed. He will see the difference immediately from her behaviour … and yeah, she’s the only one who can snap him out of it. Like a proper reality slap. And she HOT Trust me, let him be a demon first. That’s where the fun is 🥵
That sounds really unpleasant to read.
We know the hoard we must take it
The logical follow up is Hoard Hoard
It isn’t, we can do that after a therapy reign we can’t wait the three or four reigns it would optimistically take to actually achieve anything.
I got a taste of music Simon and I want more 🤣 give my my Disney villain story arc! It's not gonna happen
Vote for the sanctuary!!! Read the comments below to learn more about what you'll gain and avoid wasting one reign by dying upon setting foot in the world's most dangerous dungeon.
Hear me out, guys. I think going after Gargauth’s treasure makes the most sense. Not only will it help him understand and destroy Vouivre, but it will also validate all the choices Simon made in this reign, which would help him rest better when the Sanctuary in the Sky reign comes. Not all of his choices were in vain.
Of course it was in vain if he goes in only to die instantly... without achieving anything. Besides, how do you know the sanctuary will be available for the next vote? It's now or never!
I feel like not going immidiately for the Hoard is going to feel like this reign in which had to really sully himself and work with Vouivre was a waste of sacrifice. The Hoard will still take several reigns, but Simon doesn’t know that. He must first check it out to learn about its dangers so he can prepare better in an interim reign to go for it again later
It would be a massive waste to die immediately on finding the horde. Void only offers choices which Simon would do so it also makes sense for him to decide he doesn't want to try and do the horde next.
I am either for the Sanctuary or the Hoard. But I already decided last poll to vote for Heaven Paradise Vacation special including therapy, Zodiac Parade show, Adventurer and potentially useful resources.
Go full hardcore. C'mone boys, we will rest after this one, i promise. But WE NEED TO PUSH DEEPER!
Lies there is no rest only music
Sanctuary. Libromancy and gargauths hoard are tempting but simons definitely a bit too raw for kingmaker and he needs a break
I kind of want to see Simon get petty and shove it up his watchers' rear ends. Starting with the daddy lizard is a good starting point. But then... I didn't really enjoy the villainous villain Simon bits. Gets uncomfortable when he goes genocidal.
It's more interesting when he is trying to do good in the current reign as well as a hypothetical future.
Vote for the hoard. Simon hasn’t gone deep enough yet to deserve a rest. Gargauth’s dungeon will be the definitive push to that
Just want to say, I'm very happy to see another Aedemphia inspired avatar picture ;) mine was inspired by it.
No, not extremely short, he needs to explore it thoroughly when he has the power to do so! Sanctuary in the sky has been teased for so long, let's get to it!
You know what's best! Thank you for your support!
We can do The Sanctuary in the Sky after the The Hoard of Gargauth. Is short is sweet and it moves the plot, VOTE FOR THE HOARD!!!!!!!!!!!VOTE FOR THE HOARDVOTE FOR THE HOARD
The horde won't be finished that reign though, it will take multiple increasingly long reign to actually achieve anything.
Read the comments below, and especially mine.... there I explain everything you would gain with the sanctuary.... I already said that the Sanctuary unlocks a vampire reign and that we will help recover the poor Belzemine.... she has already suffered a lot.
Vamp and Sanctuary reign will both be very long. Vote for HOARD so he can actually work on that in his free time during said long reigns! HOARD will enrich all future plotlines
Preferably we do a relaxed run but Simon getting destroyed by the hoard reign might provide a better transition into a modern relaxed one if it does end up being hoard of Gargauth
He’s got a crash and burn first before he can be rebuilt
5) The Hoard of Gargauth is short lesss get it out the way pls
Bro... don't you see??? It needs more than one reign to complete, and that's if he's lucky... right now he's not going to accomplish anything except die and waste a reign!!! He'd better go to the sanctuary to recover.
C’mon guys quick 8-10 chapter adventure in and out, and then bro can get therapy.
It won’t be much of an adventure it will be him finding the entrance then dying we can’t wait until he actually makes it to the horde.
Blood for the blood God skulls for the skull throne. The horde awaits!
Long live the Emperor (Overlord)! Go to the Immaterium (Abyss), being of darkness! Come back whenever you want to vote for the Sanctuary!
I voted "Sanctuary in the sky", because unlocking fast travel offers the biggest power step up
He can learn a standard teleport spell at level eighty. Why waste a Devour Crestone on it?
He needs to be crushed to be rebuilt properly, more pain
If there's anything left to rebuild... it's vacation time, and with a hellish parade and popcorn!!! Vote for the sanctuary!!
Really looking forward to Vampire blood sorcerer Simon.
Blood magic could be very interesting. Particularly if it like MoLs and includes enhancement magic.
THE RELIEF IS AFTER THE HOARD DO NOT BE ASTRAY
The horde will take multiple reigns to reach. It’s an overarching objective like being a visionary was. We can’t wait that long. Also if we don’t rest now after what just happened we clearly aren’t ever going to.
FELLOW DRAGONS WE MUST HAVE THE HOARD
He needs a vacation but do the brutal dungeon dive first. Guargauth then sanctuary.
He won’t finish the dungeon though it’s a waste to die there now. When he is stronger he could actually achieve something when he tries to get it.
He needs some therapy, i think he could make it work with anna if he can get his head straight with a less evil reign first
I really hope so. These past chapters have made me like her as the final romance partner even more.
The song of bujan needs more love and vote ! It's perfect in every way : much needed holidays for Simon, a new spell tree, Belzemine development and no old companions to get in his way. The best set-up possible for some redemption after this mess of a reign.
I was going to vote for The Sanctuary in the Sky before seeing the other options but now I have changed my mind and voted for the Hoard of Gargauth. My reasons are: 1) The fact that it is a very short reign makes it very appealing to me after so many relatively long reigns, 2) the ending of the current reign can be impacted by the Horde of Gargauth reign in a way that reveals some power of Vouivre that terrifies Simon and paves the way for this choice, 3) It continues the story put forward by Mardoks advice to get Gargauths Abyssal Chronicle, 4) I dont think one reign of introspection is even to compensate multiple reigns of evil so maybe this reign can do it.
And what exactly are you going to achieve... besides dying instantly and without accomplishing anything, wasting a reign... think, Mark, think!! ! I mean... think, D.F., THINK!!! For more information, see ALL the comments below.... Did already said that the sanctuary unlocked a vampire reign similar to Castlevania..?
Simon needs a vacation. And Belzemine charcter development, at last!
I'm picking Sanctuary hoping everyone dies by the end.
Diabolical. I wasn't familiar with your game.
Should go for Gargauth’s hoard when Simon’s higher level. Going for it now just feels like a waste of a reign. Now, there’s isn’t strictly a reign where he’s going to power level, so I think the focus should be on a better himself, his spells, craft and some introspection. I rather we go for the crafter’s tower but I can see that it’s not going to win. So, Kish’s sanctuary it is. Hope it’s not too much boring. But I’m sure when he dies, seeing all of Belzemine’s progress going back to zero is going to be another devastating gut punch ;-)
Thank you for your vote and support!
I want a better opera option. Ngl. I'm voting for The song of Bujan, but I can see why its not going to win. King in Crimson was close to perfect , so we need something like that.
Mmm.... Muahahaha *laughs evilly* You know... I heard that the reign of the Night Throne is a reign where Simon becomes a vampire, and the great Void mentioned that it's a reign that's similar to what we'd see in Castlevania... What? You like vampires? Well, I'm telling you that that reign is behind the Sanctuary... You know who to vote for... Relax, that Hoard isn't going anywhere...
So wait... if we vote "wrong" (or better , "unoptimally") does that mean we are dooming Simon to run out of Reigns and fail?
Who knows, anything is possible with the great Void in charge... if you don't want to fail in the voting... vote for the sanctuary... I heard it's winning XD
The hoard is the way to go I believe, i know the sanctuary is the one that will end up winning, but i don’t believe the respite is whats needed quiet yet
And what exactly does he need, bro? To go to a super dangerous dungeon and die the moment he enters and turns the corner? Bro... Simon needs to rest... and see what happens to the world without him in it. And by the way, I heard there's a dungeon in the Sanctuary where the Zodiac Demon is... he could very well do it... with a recovered Belzemine....
Therapy for Belzemine!!! Friendship/romance with Eole!!! New friends, new allies!!! Access to two crestones!! Watch the Zodiac Parade front row with popcorn... what more could you want!!!! Oh... did I mention that completing that reign grants access to a secret reign... (????) You know who to vote for!!! Vote for the Sanctuary!!
I love therapy! But just to be a contrarian! What about breaking Simon even more? It would make therapy even sweeter!
Simon's about to break he's been pushing himself too hard he needs to slow down with the kish for a bit
More deaths in a horde makes therapy all the sweeter friends!
It wouldn’t though if Simon doesn’t take the break now and does after dying in the dungeon it will diminish the effect of these deaths on him.
Damn, from a story perspective i think the only one who makes sense is Song of Bujan, Simon needs rest and introspection without forcing himself to act normal around those he loves, so Sanctuary and Kingmaker are out. Having a calm reign to sort out himself and his priorities out will do wonders for Simon, not to mention this will be his chance to finaly do some serious leveling on another class(Bard) so its not even a waste of a reign on the progression side of things. But from a meta perspective its incredibly unlikely we will get two Slice of Life reigns in a row and if we dont pick Sanctuary now its very likely we will never do, and if my options are between backing the winning horse or letting the edgelords win with the worst choice possible then my hands are tied.
Nobody at the sanctuary has a pre-reign basis for how Simon should act. Eole first meets him after the reigns start, and Belzamine is/was apathetic about everything. So he doesn't need to pretend or act "normal" because they have no expectations for how he should be acting
I hope we get that introspection on the sky sanctuary reign.
We shouldn’t do hoard yet as Simon’s capabilities grow we will need less reigns to accomplish things. It would be a waste to do it now even if Garguath hasn’t created traps that specifically target overlords in case another tried to claim his stuff.
Exactly, bro!!! It's a waste of a reign to die stepping into the most dangerous dungeon in the world!!! Vote for the sanctuary.
"access to the Adventurer & Necromancer Crestones" does access means we get to absorb them or just see what they can do?
I'll most likely see what they can do, but who knows, maybe with luck Simón can devour at least one.
Either Sanctuary or the Song of Bujan. Let's do the Sanctuary first, then have a few reigns for inspiration and then do Song of Bujan.
A break... Simon just wants a break... "look what they did to my boy!!!" - Vito Corleone Besides, I heard that Belzemine, now recovered, is an excellent adventure companion...
Honestly I agree with most people that the logical conclusion is to go for the hoard in the next reign but in a emotional type of way I feel that Simon is better off having a good old peace of mind to reflect on his actions and to actually recover the goodness of what made Simon a paladin crest stone holder. It’d be nice to have him recoil specially with the latest chapter reveal where he gets Anna killed. Hence my vote will be sanctuary
Good choice, there's no point in entering a dungeon to die in the first minute.
Come on, let our boy chill out making some art.
Man as much as I want the bird plot it only makes sense to continue in misery and also immediately check out the hoard.
Exactly. Simon needs one final nudge before breaking and going on a therapy reign.
Oh damn, Crafter's Tower sounds sick as hell.
Why the hoard??? He's going to lose a reign and find a small cache of weapons... as if he didn't already have weapons or magic... Vote for the sanctuary!!!!
I think we should finish the dragon part completely and go ahead with the hoard run. Relaxing in the sanctuary should be done once the dragon secrets are out. Also maybe gargauths book contains info that could be useful to see the zodiac parade
That's the point... it doesn't say he's going to find the chronicle of Gargauth... only that he's going to find a few disappointing weapons... and die... wasted reign.
Sanctuary in the sky. EMDR therapy. Learning to crochet. Active listening. Give the man a second to catch his breath, he just watched his first love be incinerated
Yes, please. We need some MC maintenance. Don't listen to the edgelords and chuunis, hopeful stories ARE fun.
Which would you like to have? Another Perfect Run, or another Never Die Twice? Imo both are good books, but only one of them is great...
Whilst I agree with all of the people wanting Simon to delve into the Hoard instantly, I think finally going to the Kish sanctuary is exactly what he needs right now. The past two reigns have showcased just how much Simon has spiraled since obtaining the Overlord class and the lengths he's willing to go to in order to achieve his perfect rule. I think it's pretty obvious he needs to unwind, even temporarily (Plus we finally get to meet the Adventurer!).
Imagine that expe boost skill!!
Could we also get a detailed map of the world including the elf continent please? Or is that already done?
It's done, bro... Join the Discord server, everything's there, and while you're at it, join the MILF cult! Pray to Saint Remedia and Saint Euphemia! P.S.: If you want to join the Discord server, I can guide you.
Also sanctuary in the sky sounds incredibly boring, and it doesn’t really level him up, let’s get him to level 100 and than he can be as mopey and introspective as he likes
Well he would probably get to devour the Adventurer crest and get that teleportation perk, and check out the Necromancer. And the first reconnaissance of the Zodiac Parade. He has to spend a few reigns just scouting it out to know what/where stuff happens.
Greetings everyone, I hope you're all doing well! Do you really want to go into a super dangerous dungeon just to die in the first minute, without accomplishing anything? That's a waste of effort, time, and a whole reign! Simon needs therapy... and we also need to see the Zodiac parade front row... with popcorn. My vote goes to the sanctuary! FOLLOW ME!
Hmmm… you might have convinced me to change my vote. To Hoard, of course.
There is no point doing sanctuary in the sky now when he still has a bunch of evil stuff to do, get that all over with and then relax
I think this reign has shown really well that won’t work
Has to be hoard or bujan.
To start with The Crafter's Tower feels like something out of a left field. Simon has a lot on his mind right now and I feel like choosing that option would be too jarring story wise. The Hoard of Gargauth looks like a start to a new questline. Completing that dungeon should take at least 3+ reigns, considering what's written in that blurb and Simon needs a bit of a break now, so also not my choice. I want to get Kingmaker so much mainly because of Elios. But Simon needs more time before talking with Anna again because of what just happened. That reincarnation secret has to wait for now. So it seems like we are left with a mental health reign for Simon. From what I've seen of the poll next arc will probably be the Sanctuary. Which is fine I guess, doubly so because of Voltobauta and the Adventurer Lady. I have a feeling talking with them is something Simon desperately needs. But I prefer the ways of Evil Simon so the Song of Bujan it is from me.
Mr. Void Harold, Which of these will have the most dark comedy? (I want Simon to laugh though the darkness as that is the only option!)
FOR THE HOARD!
FOR THE HOARD
We need to reward Simon for being so evil! Let's go Hoard.
FUR DIE HOARD
I voted the sanctuary in the sky however i would swap to the hoard if it was short in chapters too though maybe it makes sense for him to wait and be stronger
I am sad it will be the Kish romance, I don’t really feel them together. And long slice of life will be jarring.
It might end up just being a friendship. They do feel better as friends.
Libromancy and the book of the dead sound so cool, but I think Simon deserves a bit of paradise. Will he be able to consume the Adventurer perks? I can only hope.
After spending so much this rain on looking for the hoard, especially after losing Anna, its either gonna have to be to make it worth it by continuing, or realising how much he's fallen, and all the things that are constantly changing beyond his controll, he spends a Reighton somewhere just hiding and collecting information. Seeing how long he can stay alive after the constellations to see who fights who, who does what, how do people like Anna, the palading and his siblings develop their power, etc.
Otherwise I'd vote for the bard run, but the dungeon run seems tempting and properly concluding the dragon arc. Music must be realized soon though.
Song of Bujan!
crafter's tower, all the way buddy, all the way!
As much as I’d love to see Hoard of Gargauth, we should probably do a few more reigns like throne of night so that Simon doesn’t die instantly
No hatred fueled genocide run? :(
Does the hoard one have... EVEN MORE VOUIVRE ROMANCE??? Asking for a certain kobold...
It doesn’t say so and sounds like the opposite honestly.
As much as i would like to see the Hoard, the Eole slice of life makes more sense for now and maybe as he grow in power he won't have to die in it.
He's already come so far for the Chronicles, he should go all in and then take a break. Plus take his rage out on the dragon and her dungeon a little.
Even if he recovers the Hoard there will always be another evil reign to do. We still have almost? 80 reigns left. It's fine to take a break now and come back for more dastardly deeds later. Especially as Simon very unstable now. Let him recover a little before he can't come back from this.
Noooo not the Kish goodfeel stuff hisssss
If you’re gonna do Kingmaker, it doesn’t really make sense to not do it now.
The music stuff was pretty cool and I’d like to explore it more, Song of Bujan all the way!
The Opera calls! It’s full of wins: Simon de-stresses, he learns more about Opera and leans into more music/audio based miasma use, beginning the creation of his own unique Overlord style, and Belzemine gets some more therapy and spotlight time. It also opens up the Throne of the Night, which sounds cool.
Picture it: Simon reassessing and thinking about things, determining his next steps, as he composes some amazing miasmic music/audio. The aura would be crazy. Add in some monologuing or dialogue, laughter, and people’s reactions while he plays *chef’s kiss* What makes horror media really scary is less so the visuals and more so the sound design. Think about popular horror movies or media and they all had killer soundtracks and audio. Simon having a focus on music or audio miasma spells would be terrifying.
The sanctuary in the sky is definitely necessary, but some introspection would be a good idea first. I believe it should be song of Bujan, and then immediately followed by sanctuary in the sky.
I hope he would have enough time in the long life of the sanctuary that we would still get the introspection.
I voted Hoard. I think Simon's mental state contributing to it being brutally short (in addition to the traps) is the capstone we need before a therapy reign.
Sanctuary makes most sense, front row seat to the apocalypse to remind Simon what hebis fighting for.
Simon needs to commit and finish what he started with the dragons. Kill Vouivre and plunder her hoard. Introspection and peace can come later in the reigns after he has spiraled some more. Nr 5 all the way
He won’t be able to in this reign it’s short because he will fail fast. We should come back when Simon is a bit stronger and more experienced.
At this point he should pull through and finish the dragon business. The Hoard of Gargauth before the relief in Sanctuary
But it seems like the Hoard is a kind of a huge dungeon that will take at least 3+ reigns to complete. And that 'brutally short' length means he will probably die soon after inflitrating it. So it would not be a last stretch to this mental health madness but more like a start of a new mini-arc.
Sanctuary or song, bro needs therapy
Relief options definitely torn between song and sanctuary
Simon needs a break, i picked 1
I think Simon would know Gargauths horde is beyond him now. He needs to be stronger than Vouivre before he tries that. Maybe even after seeing if the Rogue crest has anything useful.
Does Simon *really* know? That feels like meta knowledge only we have. Him going there once and promptly dying would inform him that its beyond him but at this point it seem perfectly feasible, *for Simon*.
I feel Simon should suffer and spiral a bit more. One does not simply step away from the Overlord class, and i feel he needs to be pushed a bit further off the cliff of despair before truly being ready for serious introspection and growth.
That sounds like it would be really depressing to read.
Not gonna lie the song chapter was one of the more epic ones in recent memory, so yeah give me more of that please 😂
I think Bujan has the right balance of therapy without the emotional trauma, plus I wanna see performance Simon
That damned MUSAN SNIPER made me laugh enough, even without context, to vote for it.
Simon needs a break, and as the voices in his head, it's our duty to give him one. Voting for Bardic Shenanigans.
As much as I want my boy Simon to have a peaceful break... I want librarian lore more!
I vote for the Sanctuary, for some time I wanted the introduction of the Sky Island.
Simon really needs a hobby. While I love the idea of 1, I think 3 is more peaceful for him
The hoard of gorgauth let him die some more before relief
Number 2 seems like the the trap that would make things worse. So I'm voting for it
Time to unleash an unstable Simon on some happy loving people for some good recovery
TL;DR - Loved the chapters so far. Vote for another darker reign. This has been a wonderful reign! I’ll admit I’m a sucker for the darker reigns, but I’m enjoying the introspection this one has provided for Simon. Now . . . I know that after so much character development, some might see the next reign as a good way for our Overlord to unwind and chill. I disagree. The introspection, the firm reality check, the slow & dismal understanding that the reigns have changed him. While a chill reign may provide our Overlord with much needed relaxation, it cannot force him to face the hard truth. Perhaps the end of this reign will let Simon peak at the true cost of the reigns. But he will need to suffer develop more to truly understand and accept the cost. Our Overlord will get his peaceful reign, in time. But I believe the best path forward is for Simon to learn more about the cost of being the Overlord. After all, suffering builds character.
To those of you who vote for torment…I will find you…
Teehee
I feel like finishing with the dragons once and for all would be a smart choice so ill go with 5
It feels more like the start of another arc like the visionary stuff which will be completed over several reigns. Not the end to the dragon stuff though.
The drug of happiness, there’s no greater trial than having everything you ever wanted, and all the things you never knew you needed, and giving it up for the greater good
Personally I think after some of the stuff he did to both Eole and Anna this reign, facing them immediately would just be a complete heartbreak. So I'm voting for Bujan.
Also, Void this poll is kinda badly designed; there are four "relief" options among which that vote can split, and 1 "torment" option, which *heavily* biases it towards torment winning Personally I'd have appreciated two polls, one with "relief or torment" being the option, and then another with the options available to the route folks choose?
RELIEF. I say number 1.
