This was great. I listened to it on my podcast app but I came here to check the visuals. If you do another I'd watch it instead of listen. Great idea and a fun episode! However, I was a little unsure if this was a video or not (because I just listen to every episode automatically in my podcast player) so it would be nice if the post was labelled [BONUS VID] or something like that. Not important, just would be nice.

It killed me when Freddie was trying to run down the hall to see it for his next character and Will just giggling: “you can’t see, dude!” This would be awesome for an ongoing series like kingdom dad monster. Let us get some Will DMing, and it can just be a as needed when y’all need to shore up some content. Fun story: on roll20, there was an option for dynamic lighting so you can set the light sources and their range to show players how much they can see and where. I used it like ten years ago for an online game with some IRL friends. And it blew my mind how much less aggressive they explored when they could only see how far their characters see. The toons with our special racial vision were super timid. The one person with a torch went around a corner and left everyone else in near total darkness. They all kept together real close after that. It was beautiful.

No more OSr, esp without full cast. That being said, I will listen to anything you put out and your my fave crew ever

Love Will trying to be inclusive with referencing Gygax’s “guys gals and nonbinary pals”, but Anthony was right. Gygax shouldn’t be included there, he was a huge misogynist POS who directly wrote sexism into his games and would have thrown a tantrum at having women at the table. Much of what people enjoy about DnD didn’t even come from him; he was an enormously adversarial DM whose main focus was war game style dungeon crawling and who scoffed at the concept of role playing. Not saying we should write him out of the history of the game since he did play a huge role in its formation, but we don’t need to try and make him some progressive even for his time. Like you wouldn’t talk about Lovecraft being at the forefront of race relations. We don’t need to try and smooth out the flaws of these people. The diversity and inclusiveness in DnD is directly against what someone like Gygax wanted. The fact that it has become associated with those values is progress that the people in the hobby have worked hard to improve and shouldn’t be credited at all to someone like Gary Gygax.

Love Shadow dark! Definitely would love more OSR style games. I think lethal systems/games suit you guys so well, just look at kingdom dad monster. Also the visual component was very fun where you can mostly listen but occasionally glance at the map to clarify when necessary.
