I don't freak out with my blood. Too many childhood memories of FLAYING the bottom of my feet and toes after riding a bike with no footwear... or slipping on seaweed atop giant rock outcroppings at low tide on an island in MAINE, knife-like rock slices aiming upwards, blood spilling onto angry crabs.
The description of your childs birth had me throwing up in my pants.
Bleeding doesn't really bug me, but I can think of two instances where I wanted to throw up into my pants. Many years ago I fell asleep on the floor, on my side with my head resting on my arm. I also had a relatively fresh ear piercing, because I was super cool. When I woke up, my earlobe was swollen and painful, and when I looked in the mirror I noticed that the stud had been pushed back inside my earlobe. It was very difficult to keep from retching while I finally got the stud shoved back out of the bloody, stretched-out hole. The second instance was a few years later when I started to get what I thought was a wart or something on the crook of my elbow. I started getting kind of grossed out by it, so one night I decided to perform surgery on myself. I thought it would just be on the level of taking out a really deep splinter, so nothing would prepare me for how deep this thing actually went. It wasn't so much the blood itself that just slowly oozed out of this gaping hole as it was the fact that I had to basically rip what amounted to a small cork out of my arm. Imagine if you pulled a drain plug out of an empty sink and then it started overflowing with blood. I haven't thought about this in years, and just recalling this is making me want to hurl!
in 1996 trout fishing. 16 years old on a steep embankment full of giant rocks/boulders. buddy joked around and said "yo my bad i just stepped on your new rod" when my back was turned. we had a sick form of messin with each other so i was gonna run him down with my hunting knife. he took off, i start leaping over rocks chasing - missed a step and fell head first into the water - knife in hand. when i popped up, buddy said "yo you okay man?" i said yea i got wet im good. as he said "your head ..." a gallon of blood poured down my face blocking my vision. i felt my head and my hand instantly looked like i dipped it in a can of red paint. apparently my head landed on the blade when i hit the bottom of the water. i didnt feel a goddamn thing though. zero pain.
It's so true though, the last day of vacation is filled with dread
An A/C unit will work, but it'll work a lot better if you insulate the roof first. Also, great advices as always!

Im sorry to hear about the tree being removed. Never understood why people would cut them down since they provide much needed shade in the summer months.
